If it wasn't obvious, this build originally used jolly time because I finished this video right before they made ale very expensive and buffed chest loot. I had to quickly replace jolly time with wanderer's luck and fix the video accordingly to fit the new patch. Please let me know if you have any questions
It's sad that beats of alacrity is nerfed, but I'd still run it. I'd also still run the chest opening song. We already stopped using harmonic shield after the patch before this one, so I'm surprised they nerfed it again. Definitely don't run harmonic shield, haha. @@Maer-si I haven't had time to play yet post-patch, so I'd have to see if drums are still worth running, but I'd imagine they're still worth it I was messing a bit with aria of alacrity before this patch and decided to add it back into the build, but now I have to see if it's still worth using since they nerfed it so hard. So my current songs (still need testing) are Rousing Rhythms, Beats of Alacrity, Ballad of Courage, Aria of Alacrity, Tranquility, and Unchained Harmony. Make sure to put on Unchained Harmony last, because with base knowledge, even after using Rousing Rhythms, you will be 1 knowledge short of being able to cast unchained harmony. That means with base gear, you won't be able to unlock locked chests anymore, but just having +1 knowledge or +1 all on anything will fix this
Some of this information is now obsolete but a large amount is still valid, being that stat changes were made to all of the gear but it works! Thanks man!
I immediately added this to a playlist for me to keep because I love bard but was really struggling to figure out how to play them against other players. This video really helped me out I loved how it covered everysingle aspect of how to improve, even gradual gear improvement so not to lose money; I find that no dark and darker content creators do this so your especially unique. Thanks for the great video
@@GaroShadowscaleBold yes I would love a video with some advice on how to kill cave troll as bard, I really want the magnificent chest at the end with big luck
Oooh, cave troll on bard! I actually haven't fought the troll at all post patch. It might be a bit tricky to refresh bard buffs midfight, but I'll see what I can do @@erodoujinshilover2811
I've been scouring bard guides for a bit and without a doubt this is the best presented one I have found. I don't know if it's the best build or not because I'm not great at the game, but I am following this guide to a T. Appreciate the thought that went into making this guide!
Thank you! Happy to help! Only thing I'd add is Will can be helpful because it also raises buff duration like Resourcefulness does, in fact even more so up to level 15. Though there aren't many bard armor pieces that raise will, but just something to keep in mind
This is how guides should be. Perfectly simplistic explanation of each aspect of the class that you're learning as time progresses. Too many "builds" just shoot you into the stratosphere, without explaining lower level perks and reasoning for why. Subbed and liked. Great video dude.
The Storyteller perk is honestly worth taking over rapier mastery or reinforced instruments (depending on playstyle) for the extra 3 will and knowledge buffs which further increase your buff duration and spell capacity up to 20 with rousing rhythms song buff. Some bards prefer to take reinforced instruments with this setup and just bonk people with their lute while wielding 2 crossbows to help burst people in fights. It's very powerful.
I don't really feel that I need more knowledge, but admittedly the +3 will would be nice! Just not sure it's worth using an arming sword over the rapier for that perk. I like the rapier quite a bit! That being said, I haven't actually tried the lute as a melee weapon. Is it actually good? Might have to give that a try, thanks!
This is actually something I overlooked, and @napstablooky corrected me. For buff duration, will is actually better up to will level 15, then they are equal. The challenge is that there's not a lot of gear bard can use to raise will. However if you really want the storyteller perk, and feel comfortable with a weapon like an arming sword, you can drop rapier mastery for it
Funny enough I've actually been trying aria of alacrity again haha. You can still have 3 drums. Left consumable slot, 3 drums. Right consumable slot, Lyre -> Lute -> Consumable Keep flute in inventory for when you situationally need to open locked chests
@@GaroShadowscaleBold woops i deleted my comment. Because i found out on the wiki that aria of alacrity gives %20 action speed now. And the reason it lasts short than other songs is because each song scales differently via resourcefulness. Aria of alacrity scales only 30% while other songs scale 40-50% thats why its feels lower. But at a 20% boost. Its worth putting back on The way songs work are buff base duration * (bard's persuasiveness * song's persuasiveness scaling) * buff receiver's "buff duration"
@@GaroShadowscaleBold ye i saw that comment after asking and its right on par with what the wiki says. 15 will then after that resourcefulness and will = same. But idk if that calculates the scaling of persuasiveness that each song has. 🤔 but the wiki says the same and wiki accounts for scaling. So i think thats still the correct option
Resourcefulness affects song buff duration, and if you stay at base resourcefulness and will, your song buffs will not last long, and these buffs are VERY important. What I say in the video is to figure out exactly how much resourcefulness you feel comfortable with, then focus on strength and/or agility after that. Though Will does also affect buff duration, so keep an eye out for opportunities to raise that instead of resourcefulness as well
It's a nice perk, and it definitely makes a noticeable difference, but I feel there are better perks to take unless you're very specifically doing mining runs or looting gold loot piles
Sadly no. They didn’t reduce the knowledge cost or the amount of notes in the song. It’s not worth constantly recasting it every minute or so for just 15 armor and magic resist
@@GaroShadowscaleBold Yea if they do nerfs that heavy handed idk why they don't just delete the song, it's useless now. If they want to cutdown on buff ball then just make the song less effective the more targets it effects, 15/30/55 - 3/2/1 so bard solo and duo isn't fucked by buff ball association.
@GaroShadowscaleBold speaking and subtitles. CP is a pretty loaded abbreviation on most of the internet, wouldn't want the algorithm to associate that.
I believe wanderer's luck does work with unchained. A bit of googling suggests this, and I consistently get very good loot from Lion's Head chests and Golden Chests, but I don't have hard data to prove that wanderer's luck works with unchained
I actually think for solo play giving yourself more Will is going to be way more impactful for keeping your buffs on you longer than Resourcefulness. Each point of Resourcefulness (Persuasion) gives +1% song buff/debuff duration, so at a base you actually have +20%, the reason they don't feel like they last the full duration to begin with is because Bard has 7 Will at a base which is -20% buff duration, and certain songs actually don't last as long as the tooltips. With Will it's giving you +3% buff duration for each point up until 11, then +2% for each point up until 15 then It'll be equal to Resourcefulness, BUT Will also gives -% debuff duration, +Magic Resist, and also Magic Power if you're a weirdo that uses Din of Darkness for damage (or have a named weapon that deals magic damage). I find those stats heavily outweigh the benefit of resourcefulness giving better interaction speed. It's more difficult to get Will on gear than Resourcefulness as Bard obviously, but when making the decision between the two I'd heavily suggest Will. (EG. blue Leather Gloves vs Rawhide)
Ahhh, I thought only resourcefulness affected song buff duration now. I wasn't aware will still did so. That makes a lot of sense, and thanks for the heads up! I agree, agility gloves over rawhide, definitely With that in mind, it's a shame that will is a bit tougher to stack with bard gear restrictions, but I'll keep a sharper eye out for will now. Thanks again!
keep in mind that taking will only will makes the buffs ON YOU longer, not in your teammates, so ye, if u are going solo, maybe its worth taking will more than resource or take a bit of both instead of rushing resource, although playing with a team of 1 or 2 more will makes resource much more effective@@GaroShadowscaleBold
Wait really? So it says 8% ingame but it's actually 14%? Oof, I might have to make room for it then. Shame that action speed doesn't affect song playing speed anymore though
@@GaroShadowscaleBold The action speed actually never buffed song playing speed, since pre-patch it was buffed by spell casting speed (after patch it's now with manual dexterity).
