That office room easter egg, Is a reference to 'The Stanley Parable' a very funny 4th wall breaking game originally made in the source engine. The office is styled exactly how it appears in game. You should definitely play it if you haven't already!
I have played The Stanley Parable (loved it) and i recognised the office aesthetics as being from Stanley but i felt like there was going to be more to that hidden room then that, quite a few maps use assets and style from Stanley now for the BTS or office like areas so i guess i kind of just expect to see it without expecting it to actually be a "Stanley Parable room". Thank you for watching and for commenting too, and sorry for the late reply :)
Thanks for playing our map! So the 2nd secret (which is a part of gm_construct, one of the two default maps from gmod) you found does sadly lead to a softlock once you try to turn back, i didn't fix it because i was scared of breaking the puzzle, so i just made the solution of getting back just dying and respawning, thinking about it now, i could make the cube respawning button disable the fizzlers which would be a good fix I want to explain 11:47, the animated musical is infamous for having... a not too great quality of animation, i was planning on adding the animation too but the logic i created for the video did not work so i just placed a screenshot of it to make up for the broken video The 4th secret you found is a reference to the stanley parable, that's it, just a reference, nothing deeper to see there The reflection cube getting stuck at 28:47 can happen in many other portal 2 maps, i'm not sure what causes it, it's most likely just source jank like usual
Hey thank you so much for making and sharing your maps with the community and of course a big thank you for including my logo like that, i really appreciate it and it makes me feel honoured that people would actually want to do that so thank you again for that. That makes sense about getting back 2nd secret, and yeah since it's for an easter egg the softlock doesn't really matter, but that would be a good idea, if the cube button did turn the fizzler off, maybe just for few seconds so there's time to shoot a portal into that alcove the other side. 11:47 fair enough, only very vaguely understand using logic in hammer and i can't imagine how complicated that would get, also hammer being hammer would likely have a fit if you tried to force it :) I did recognise the 4th secret room as having the look of Stanley Parable but it didn't register in my head it was actually a reference to Stanley itself, i think i have just gotten used to seeing Stanley aesthetics used in BTS scenes. If i may make one suggestion for that easter egg? put the "Door 430" sign on the door in that room, it would be instantly recognisable and the fact that door 430 was actually open but still lead nowhere would be kind of funny. 28:47 yeah i've seen the laser cubes do that in a few maps now, like you say, it's source being its usual weird self. I think it maybe has something to do with that other weird source thing where you can suspend a laser reflection cube in mid air if there's a laser going through it, probably something valve didn't notice and never fixed since. Great map, you guys did and awesome job and it was interesting to get some insights into the development of it too, including a view of the original chamber was a really nice idea. Thank you so much again for sharing your maps and recommending it and of course for the hidden logo and for watching too! (also apologies for the late reply, i'm just catching up now)

4:50 - New category: Wednesday videos, for the middle-of-the-road maps between normal and crazy :) 4:57 - That was like one of those "cats failing to jump" internet videos 7:49 - Whoa, you literally phased through the handrail. Nice job! 11:12 - Ah, yes, Garry's Mod 12:23 - Nah, that's hardly beyond average 13:47 - 🎉🎉🎉 23:14 - Portal 1, and most Portal 1 mods 24:10 - Ah, yes, The Stanley Parable 28:16 - God, I wish I could release my new laser aiming system, would make situations like this infinitely easier (literally, you would just click to where you want the laser to go) 28:50 - This happens because of custom-model laser cubes being in a laser. It's a very specific bug with a very specific workaround that not many people are aware of :P Great video as per usual :D
4:50 wednesdays will hopefully, eventually, ideally, time allowing-ly, be for the bigger "Stand alone" kind of maps like throwgun and nullpoint crisis or parts of bigger collection series, when i actually have enough time to that one day. :D 4:57 lol cats are better at hiding the embarrassed look on their face afterward than i am though. 7:49 yeah that one bit of railing doesn't seem to physically exist, Chell is way too big for that tiny gap at the end. 11:12 ah yes gmod, the bastard son of the source game world. 12:23 hammer does tend to shat itself fairly easily though doesn't it? ;) 13:47 always so cool to find that, and that people would actually even do that in the first place is awesome. 23:14 i don't really know why, but i don't like the idea of them being barefoot, it doesn't seem right somehow. 24:10 i did recognise the style as from Stanley but i think i'm used to seeing Stanley style used in BTS now that it doesn't register in my head that it may be itself a reference to Stanley Parable. 28:16 that does sound interesting and cool for the more intricate laser puzzles or when it's over a long distance like this. may i ask what keeps it from being released? could it be implemented with the Community Edition? 28:50 oh interesting, i thought it might be some remnant of bug to do with that thing where you can suspend a laser cube in mid air with the laser going through it. All the love as always to you dude ❤
@@ngeruma 28:16 - It is indeed something that I've moved over to Community Edition. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to make sure that our campaign had unique stuff while also being super user-friendly with our laser puzzles :P
0:09 - That moment when you forget to set *_drawinfastreflection_* to *_1_* in the entity properties. (For those who don't know, that's a setting that can be applied to most entities, such as models & brushwork for example, which allows them to be rendered such as on water surfaces in this situation.)
this map is awesome, i love the secrets. also portal: revolution released a few days ago, it's an awesome mod, highly recommend playing it! great vid as always
I will definitely be doing videos of Revolution at some point, hopefully soon, it's just a case of having enough free time really. As always, thank you for watching, glad you still enjoying these :D
Wow I actually played a map before you made a video on it...usually you introduce them to me and I have to go and find them to play. This one is pretty fun!
If you ever want to play the map before watching one of the videos, i always put the workshop link in the description so people can get straight to it, actually searching on the portal2 workshop can be a nightmare lol As always, thanks dude!
I couldn't find anything between the laser fields with noclip, so yeah i think your'e right that the 4th one was a Stanley Parable themed room, i did recognise the style was from Stanley but a lot of maps use Stanley style in BTS parts now that i kind of expect to see it, and i guess it doesn't register in my head that it is actually a reference to Stanley Parable itself. As always, thank you for watching and commenting!
Always awesome to find it in maps, it's so cool that people actually do that, i feel honoured when i find it :D As always, thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah a few of those doors did turn out to be a lot weirder than i was expecting, it could of worked for a Friday video too but had a good amount of puzzle anyway. Thank you for watching!
Agreed, it was fun to play/explore and yeah the lighting was very nicely done in the main chamber, makes such a big difference to the feel of a map. As always, thanks dude!
i just had finished this chamber after found your channel easter egg, and wonder if you had played the game. so i go to youtube, research the game name, found your video, watch some seconds, wonder how old the video is. look description and 14 HOURS AGO?????????? i'm verry surprised. i'm going to finish watching the video
