I was stationed in Karlshrue from 88-91. We would take road trips to Sachsenhausen a couple times a year. Many many memories at the 4 story bar and Dwyers Irish Pub. Talk about memory lane. Great video!
Feeling so nostalgic! Lived in Sachsenhausen for 6 months respectively in 2000 & 2001 ! Fond nostalgic memories of my promenade in these Strasse ! Thank you for the beautiful video !
I was stationed in Höchst in the later 80s and these old haunts bring back a number of unclear memories and others quite vivid. I remember the proprietor of one shop near the McDonald's on Paradiesgasse would take orders after the official closing time and surreptitiously exchange cash and food through the street window while keeping an eye out for police like a drug deal. We got late night food and an adrenaline rush as part of the package.
I went to Paris to watch the end of the Tour and one of my sons got to go to Frankfurt and Munich with me while we were in Europe. Frankfurt was very much the same with so many more downtown buildings. The area around the Hauptbahnhof seems stressed and less kept up than it had been. 65 miles walking over the eight days was too much to video, but your videos show it well.
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 At the 10:00 mark, when you're facing the "Four Stories", the old Irish Pub would've been directly behind you, maybe slightly left. We were stationed at the smaller barracks next to McNair.
I am grown up in a little ivillage. in the north-west of Germany, now living in Wuppertal, near Düsseldorf. Two weeks ago i was in Frankfurt. It was my first visiting Frankfurt. Your report reminds me positively of my stay there. Despite the many bars closed due to Corona. Many Thanks. For me it is like looking back and I wish that you and I can experience Sachsenhausen as a lively place again in the future. Warm greetings
cool video. I was born and raised in Frankfurt. Moved to Florida 25 years ago. I used to party there a lot when I was young. That bar with the green shutters in the Klappergasse was my hangout called "Casablanca". Thank you.
Wow. Brings back memories! Was stationed in Hanau 99-01. Frequented Alt Sachsenhausen very often! Mainly O’Dwyers Irish Pub. There was another Irish pub next to the Schwenker place and an African bar called Kyalami next to O’Dwyers. Also used to be an Australian Bar called Downunder. There was an awesome Doner shop there as well! Place looks pretty run down now and lots of graffiti.
I was in Frankfurt from 87 to 93. When you spotlighted the Four Stories bar, Memories came flooding back. The Grayish, Black building right next to the Four Stories bar was an Apartment I lived in!!! Back then, The bottom floor was a Apple wine bar. My apartment was the 3 floors above it. There used to be a fountain out in the court yard, And also the Irish Pub was just to the left of my apartment. I loved that place. It was noisy as hell most nights, But the apartment was cheap, And it was cool. That building is about 600 years old. It is Beam and Mortar construction. Looks like it has been covered up. It was at one time an Apple Silo for the apple wine industry that flourished there for hundreds of years. One cool thing about the place was, Once you went through the modern front door, You actually had to climb a steep set of 600 year old stairs,, While holding onto a rope, And go through a trap door in the floor to get into my Apartment!! It was so cool!! Thank you for the video!!
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 Yes! I had a cannon 35mm the entire 6 years I was there. Tons of Photos. At the beginning of the Video, Just after you pass the Gas street lamps, you walk by a little pub , That was on the left side of the road that used to be called the Cottage. It was owned by a very Pretty young Irtish lady Named Patti. That pub was my second home in Frankfurt. The owner Patti lived upstairs. On busy nights, I would show up early, And she would drop me the keys to the bar from her window above. I would go in and swap out all her empty kegs in the basement, for fresh ones And she would hook me up with free drinks throughout the night. I Loved living in Germany. It was a blast.
I lived in Frankfurt in the mid-80's and remember Four Stories quite well. There was also a bar/restaurant called The Licherstub and think it's now the Brazilian place you mentioned.
@frankfurtonfoottours2361 Yes I was amazed how much has changed. I'll always consider Frankfurt my second home.I lived on Gibbs Kaserne the moved to Kirchhainer Strasse
Nice guide, I look forward to visiting this Christmas.
Hope you come tour with us when you visit.

@@phoenixgolf18 I think the Irish Pub is still there. I need to go look at McNair to see what is still left.

Fond memories of the Nacht Eule disco 1973

@@okreally9963 The city has changed a lot since I moved here in 86.
Have you done a video on the Abrams Complex ?
Yes, there are 2 of them. Look under the playlist - American sites in Frankfurt
I used to dj at 4 Stories 86-87.
What an interesting job that must have been! Do you have any cool stories?
There are lots of them but I was drinking, most of them are a bit blurry.
I would like a view from the front and back of Tucholskystrasse. This street exists in Sachsenhausen Süd. Thank you.
I will see what I can do, though it may take time.
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I appreciate your help.
