As a trout fisher, about the bugs, the ones that have died off aren't the ones that annoy us. There's plenty of large Americans and farm animals for mosquitoes and gnats to gorge on. It's the bugs that hatch in massive waves, spend most of their lives as larva and die quickly after finding a mate that have severly died off due to farm chemicals and natural habit destruction(mostly chemicals), those bugs also provide lots of food for fish and birds.
