Watching this three years after your upload, but had to thank you for showing how to make English muffins. I have wanted to make them for years, but thought they would be way above my baking skills. Thank you for the lesson!!
Good morning ! It's 9:52 am in Rio. It doesn't matter how old or young someone is. I respect and admire people who somehow help the next ones. And, Kevin, you'll always be young, you're not old, but experienced !
Kevin, I just started baking bread this year, mainly to save money and learn a new skill. My husband loves English muffins and found an English muffin bread recipe for me to try a few months ago, which is my go to recipe, because it is no fail and delicious. I would love to surprise him with some English muffin "muffins" and these look awesome! I see a muffin ring purchase in my future, and mountains of muffins on the horizon!! Thank you for showing me how easy and un-intimidating these can be to make.
Just made these. This is the first time I've tried making these and of course I burned the first the side of the first six. Used a ten-inch skillet on an electric stove which is tricky to guess the temperature. (Also had a bit of trouble guessing the amount of batter to use; some are higher than the others.) The second side turned out perfect. For the next three, I used a smaller skillet with a better glass lid. They turned out perfect. At any rate, they are all delicious toasted and buttered!
Kevin. Have been doing some homework this afternoon and after looking at other recipes for stovetop muffins like yours, the others do not compare in the easiest of putting together as yours do. Congrats on finding the best one out there that works. Will be cooking these up when I can. Thanks again!
These were so impressive. You're right. No store muffins could beat those. They looked unbelievably soft and the air pockets in the dough after baking looked like pastry, even better. Imagine serving those to people. I think it would be a first time experience for everyone to try muffins homemade.😮
Amazing!! I've always wondered how English muffins are made. Now, I do, thanks to you! 🙏I much more prefer English muffins for breakfast than regular toast. There is something about the taste that is very comforting. Also, I really appreciate the great effort you go to in order to create great recipes and videos that are easy to follow and very enjoyable to watch. Thank you so much! Cheers! 🙏💖☺
PS: I'm loving the fact that I see your Subscriber numbers continually increase. You do a fantastic job, and I am delighted in seeing your success increase. 💖💖💖
Good evening ! Thank you for sharing this recipe. I've been making them two, three weeks in row ! My daughter just fell in love with them ! Thank you !!!!!!
Love your recipes. We are serving overseas right now in Northern Japan and can’t get English muffins. My son has discovered he could use a mini waffle maker to put an egg in it, then a slice of ham or Canadian bacon for a simple egg and ham on an English muffin. So your homemade muffin recipe saved the day!
Yours turned out lovely..... I tried of course immedietly...because I adore them.....but since I do not have those small baking ring-forms....I used one big one.... The texture turbed out super I followed your instruction with the 100 folds.. that made all rge difference to my former attempts before I discovered your channel.. So ...another progress in my culinary life....Good night from Germany...
I'm quite amazed by these English Muffins. They look really delicious. Over here we also call them Crumpets but it's the same thing. I've never thought of making them yet they are so simple. I will look out your link for yeast and I need some muffin rings. As an aside, I've never come across anyone who splits them in half to add loads of butter and jam so, as it's a great tip, it will be interesting to try that. Thank you for another delicious recipe. Perfect for Afternoon Tea as well I'd say. Lots of Love, Steve & Noggin, Manchester UK xxx
This is great because I don't have a bread mixer. Old fashioned here with my Mom's Hamilton Beach mixer from the 50-60's? We made a heck of a lot of cookies! This is great. Just made the dough so I will see what happens later.
New to your channel Kevin- What a great recipe! I wanted one that utilized rings. I am also hoping to make sour dough english muffins. We have been sheltering in place on our working farm in New Hampshire for the past two years and continuing into 2022. I should be getting better at Hatha Yoga and hopefully english muffinds! ~ Diane
Kevin, you could have gotten much more batter if you had used a silicone spatula . I am anxious to try this because my Daughter Loves English Muffins. Thank You for the recipe & demo.
Hello, Kevin once again. I have come back to let you know about your recipe. here. I have changed it up a notch to 1/2 cup whole wheat flour instead of the regular all the way and it is a little better I think. Also, It rises with the Rapid rise yeast in 2 hours instead of 3 when put in a warm place. And as Mr. Food used to say, Oooo it is soooo good! Love this and will keep on making it as long as I can. Later! ~Mo~
I’m English and these look like crumpets and the recipe is the same as crumpets here. English muffins are more bread like Either way the look delicious and I’m now hungry lol
Hi Kevin. I thought it would be great to get bulk flour or yeast when I heard you talk about it, but I have no idea what video you made "yesterday" (two years ago), so how about providing an actual like to the Mennonite store, instead of a vague verbal reference?
Well, it might be confusing but those are crumpets (due to the milk and everything. Americans don't know crumpets and call them English muffins. Btw, never ever split a crumpet in half, that's only for muffins. 😉
Kevin, I just went through your whole video with Word on the side and made a printed copy of this whole recipe. Do you not have the directions for this printed too? Don't see it here. Thanks!
Those English muffins look fantastic 😍 it would be wonderful if your measured ingredients were in grams as I am in Australia and we work on the metric system. Our cups and spoons as well as mls are different. Thank you
Hi,Kevin. Good job...your English muffins look just like store bought ones. I bet they taste alot better than the ones from the store, though. I am going to make some. Thanks for the recipe.
These look great. I bought 2 rings years ago and they are still in the package, now I can try them. I'm curious what brand is your electric skillet? I need to buy a new one and I like the size and shape of the one you used. Thanks. This was my first video, now I need to check out your others!
Hi MrsSeaHag - Let me know how the muffins work out for you! I love my electric skillet, and use it often. It's a Presto 16-inch skillet. Details here: amzn.to/2M3QBtd
For fool proof beginner's... I use the microwave. I run the the microwave for 50 seconds "with nothing in it". The once it goes off and still warm... In goes in my batter/dough. Let sit and poof!! Done! 🥰
Never use a microwave totally empty, it can damage the microwave. Put a cup of water in it. The water will heat the inside and provide a load for the microwave. Moisture helps proofing also.
I made the English muffins today, I made them too large. I only made 4. Also I greased the rings with veg oil and I had a hard time getting the rings off the muffins. Does a spray work better?
Kevin, you've outdone yourself with these homemade English muffins! And I haven't even made them yet!! HA They look sooo good, I think I can almost taste them! I can't make them yet because I'm going to have to get some muffin rings. I'll have to let you know later how good they are and how easy they are to make! Thank you!
Thank you, nitrous dude. I do have a good crumpet recipe. Just go to my RUclips page (i.e., click on the picture of me) and type, into the "search channel" box, "Easy Homemade Crumpets." The recipe should pop right up. Hope you enjoy!
OK I have just found your channel. And a very interesting video and I have been looking at videos on English muffins to see which one I want to try. But I do have a question does it really matter all that much on which direction you stir the dough and how many times. I’m serious I’m not making fun I really want to know.
Hi Reta - Stirring in one direction works really well here. (Remember that a dough hook moves in only one direction.) I hope you will give these English Muffins a try!
Dude... Those look great. I ordered the rings and will try this out over the weekend. I will let you know how they turn out, I have a complete All-Clad set, an electric griddle, and also a cast iron griddle in the center of my gas range. Any idea what might work the best? I will probably use the electric if I don't hear back before I try them.
Hi Matt - You can bake these English muffins in any skillet that has a lid. I like to use my electric skillet here, with the temperature set to 300°F. I hope the muffins turn out well for you!
Well, I did it!!! I studied the texture of your "batter" and added nearly 1/4 cup extra of warm water to match what you had, best call I ever made! Actually fun to make, cleanup was a breeze too. Thanks for taking the time to share this technique, this one is a keeper for me.
Hi Kevin, I made your hamburger buns an they were excellent !!! Now I will try this one , Cant’t wait to report back. Um so is that a Kitchenaid Oven that has the proof feature?? ( Pretty cool )
Hi Chris - You might be able to use rapid rise yeast here. Instead of using 2 1/4 teaspoons as for Active Dry yeast, use only 1 3/4 teaspoons of Rapid Rise. Let me know how the muffins turn out for you!
I let my bread dough rise in my microwave oven using just the heat from to incandescent lamp. Yes you may have to leave the door open a little bit. This does a good job too.
Kevin, I noticed in the video you state 2.5 Cups flour but in your written ingredients in the Description it says 3.5 Cups flour. Just curious which is correct? I don't want my batter to be too thick. :)

I used a heating pad that is used to start seedlings for the garden. It has a temp control to it. You can set any temp. Worked perfect for it to rise.
