Only missing: edit in action. Tweaking the patches during performance, every now and then, would have make sense
There is some special magic in the UF series boards with this module, especially when you crank the chorus full blast and reverb half up. I only wish I could midi or cv in. I have since obtained a Korg M3 (now sold), Radias and Waldorf Microwave XT. I am drawn to play the Nano more than anything and will likely never part with it.
Here's some sort of summary of my opinions: +Better (heavier) touch than on typical lightweight keyboards +Low price +Quite nice synth sounds -You cannot save sounds -Changing banks and programs isn't very fast -When used as master keyboard pitch bend doesn't tend to do proper glissando -Organic sounds aren't very good
The bank select problem isn't really a problem at all. The Nano responds to the bank change CC '000', which was the original factory default assignment for knob 3. Simply choose which knob or slider you want to use for bank select, assign controller 000, and change banks to your hearts content :~)
please can you tell me in lamen's terms how to get the nano sounds working, i have a UF7 with the card fitted and having no joy getting much from it. Also which output do you connect tp the mixer from the back? sorry for all the questions
Actually it's quite good for it's price. There's little metal bars below each key, which gives them a bit heavier touch than typical keyboard. Still it's nothing like piano-weighted keyboard.
Use Shift and go to the left side of the Keyboard .... there you'll find the "Bank MSB-Select" - Function push the black key and have a look at your display. Now it shows "00" this means Bank 1 .... Bank 0-7 = 1-8 /// only for shure .... after you've chosen the Bank, with the Selection-Knob .... push "Enter" .... You have chosen your bank! After this step, just turn the knob and you can switch between the sounds 0-127 = 1 - 128 for each chosen Bank .... I hope this will solve your problem ....
@412rocs I haven't use any of Presonus products so I don't really know. But you can attach the keyboard with MIDI straight to your audio interface or via USB-cable straight to your Mac/WinXP/Vista. There's also available alternative CME UF-400-E firewire audio extension board.
@ChristopherBoothOz There are some, but this is supposed to be a some sort of a virtual analog synth so not much of those. The complete sound list is of course included to the sound board. It is a good stand alone synth, but i wouldn't take it to a gig, because of a bit too complicated and slow preset and bank changing.
@BlackGnosis It's a part of Super Mario World castle theme as I rememberer it. Now when i listened the original one again, I noticed that it goes a bit differently.
@Pwndtiac On the screen there's always numbers 0-127, but there's only 8 banks. I've already sold this thing so if I remember correctly you just have to switch bank like it's guided on manual and then a wait for a tiny blink on the screen. The screen won't still let you know which bank you're using so you just have to hear it :( I think changing a bank is one of the biggest drawbacks in this synth. If I'm correct, it works a little bit different on UF60-series.

@backshortly There's 4 different modes on velocity curve. For me synth sounds works pretty good, but of course with piano sounds for example, you might face problems. To be honest the curve could be a lot better, but like I said with synth and organ sounds it'll work just fine. I usually used the first setting which allowes widest range for dynamics.
Hi, first of all great video! i have a cme uf-80, wich i use with an ipad. what i need to do is to have a way to create and switch really fast between presets(like on one i have split on key 50, botom channel 1 and up split channel 2; in the midle of a song change to other preset with split on 70, channels 3 and 4). i don't know if i can do this with banks or programs?i've tried to create banks following the instructions but i'm not managing to do so. could u help me please?

It's impossible to change BANK (0-7) using SHIFT key, becouse CME UF7 does not have shift key. So my question is, how to change sound banks using CME UF7 keyboard?

hey, maybe you could help me out. I got the same setup (cme uf6+nano extension) and I couldnt switch the banks. I tried knob func.+kn3/4 as it stands in the manual. but it only changes value from 0-127 instead of 1-8 and no bank switching is happening. what might be the problem?
changing the sounds is done via vst instrument software the keyboard have no sounds since it's a midi controller not a pieno like a controller is not a console
Thanks! One of my personal favourites as well, sad and sentimental. Unfortunately I managed to find a driver only for Windows Vista. On Win7 CME worked with Windows XP-mode, but I guess that won't help a lot :(

You need a power cord or an audio interface that can power up your device. There's plenty of softwares that you can use. Main thing is to get MIDI-signal to your computer. I'm sure that there's plenty of tutorials how to do that.
You see, I have an additional sound board installed inside my CME which makes it a full synthesizer. So I'm not using any music software in this video. Unfortunately I don't have any software synth recommendations, but like I said, there's plenty. You may try out some of these: freesoftsynth.com/
There is a Piano expansion board for the CME, just as there is a Waldorf card. However, i'm not certain how possible/impossible it is to find nowadays. (A similar dilemma I have with finding a Korg DI-TRI expansion card for the Korg TR-Rack.)

Nice to hear that you liked it! I also have full length Korg M3, which I mainly use as a master controller. Nowadays I prefer synth apps on an iPad.

Curious to know which NES game Preset 87 is from. The M3 is very powerful, just picked up one with a Radias as well.

Yes. The UF series can incorporate the card. The card is at outlet price, more/less 125€.

I do not have CME keyboard anymore. I would check out Akai or Novation for a cheap midi-controller. Personally, I use nowadays Casio Privia PX-5S.

Yes it does. I have used it with multiple different softwares. You might face problems when using it with 64-bit Windows.
