Grew up there use to go to East Stroudsburg high school and I used to live in the worst town in Pennsylvania called Pittston. Now, I’m so glad I live in Florida.
Haha! I grew up in E.STBG and went to Pocono Mtn High. I lived in West Pittston and loved it, back in E.STBG now (stationed in FL for 2.5 years, too hot!)
@@hudster80 OMG 😳 I lived in Pittston most of my childhood and hated it. There is Christopher Columbus statue still there in Pittston? Then we move to East Stroudsburg and I went to East Strasburg high school. Now, I’m married and live in Sarasota, Florida.
There is a Starbucks located at 845 Main st, a 2nd Starbucks is proposed to be open within 1 mile in 2024. There's also a DD and McDonald's on Main St.
I've never been to this town, but you've inspired me to check it out. The historic district is idyllic and looks like a good place to walk around. I love how the town encourages mom and pop shops- something that is definitely waning. The petting zoo, indian museum, and country store look fun too. What an amazing day out and thanks for showing us as always!
4:56 - 5:14 I live in stroudsburg, and actually, there is a Starbucks, Duncan donuts, and McDonald's on main street!😅 but everything else I agree with!❤👍🏻
Haha they're looking for a way out of 1,000,000+ less than 1500sf apartments. NYC is way too overpriced and many seek the calmer and more affordable life within a relatively close distance.
@@stevent9179 Interestingly enough, when we came, there were a lot more improvements made and things to do. The town has progressed significantly since more of us arrived. Our presence IMPROVED THE area, all the while having our style copied while looking down on us at the same time. We added so much more flava to the spot and yet still get no credit for it. We are copied for our style, music, dialect (like it's a costume), yet treated with prejudice at the same time. That's hurtful! Let's tell the complete story instead of just one aspect. There's a lot of prejudice against us NATIVE New Yorkers while benefitting from us at the same time. It's interesting to have been severely ostracized for my strong NY accent when I first arrived (and denied employment because of it), then fast forward to see these Pocono Babies (as we call them) emulate our style, swag, eating preferences and more. Because of us New Yorkers, there's now street lights, restaurants, arcades, and much more things to do in this town!!! You're Welcome!
Yes but at least they keep the central part of Main Street more free from mass commercialism- something that most small towns have failed to achieve. Thanks for watching!
I lived in Pittston most of my childhood and hated it. There is Christopher Columbus statue still there in Pittston? We moved to East Stroudsburg and I went to East Stroudsburg high school. Do they still have the “little brown jug” football game between Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg everything Thanksgiving? I use to to work at Patterson-Kelley after high school. Now, I’m married and live in Sarasota, Florida.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, @SilverHonda0767. The Christopher Columbus statue in Pittston, originally dedicated in 1969, was damaged in a vehicle accident in December 2016. After repairs, it was returned to its location in July 2017. Regarding the 'Little Brown Jug' football game between Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg High Schools, the tradition began in 1945 and was typically held on Thanksgiving Day. However, due to scheduling conflicts with playoffs, the game has been moved to earlier in the season in recent years. For instance, the 80th edition of the game was played on October 13, 2023. If I’m not mistaken; wasn’t there a famous murder trial in Monroe County a couple years ago with the murderer living in Florida and got caught in a Poconos?
Thanks for your comment, @SilverHonda0767. You're correct; in December 2022, Bryan Kohberger was arrested in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in connection with the murder of four University of Idaho students. He was apprehended at his parents' home near the Pocono Mountains. This case received significant national attention due to its complexity and the extensive manhunt that led to his capture. Kohberger was a PhD student and teaching assistant at Washington State University at the time of the incident. If you have any more questions or need further information, feel free to ask. Not a very nice place. Been there, my girlfriend went to E Stroudsburg. I think they try to make it sound good to build it up, otherwise it would be considered a depressed economically area

The worst town in Pennsylvania is called Wilkes Barre
@ I agree, and Scranton too where Biden lives.
@@SilverHonda0767duh born there has lived in DE since 1960’s
I used to live off Main Street. Beautiful town.

So beautiful! So much history in Stroudsburg. Another great coverage in your series! Thank you.
I never even knew about this town. He shows you a lot of places you wouldn't have though to visit.
Yes Stroudsburg definitely is a nice and quaint Mountain town in PA- for sure worth a visit. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad I could inspire you to visit these places!

it has mom and pop shops because it cannot draw anything else. ITs pretty depressed.
At 5:01, no Dunkin or McDonalds. Not true they're both on Main street. ( the street he was walking down)
Nice vesio I didn't know stroudsburg is beautiful until I watch your vedio

Yes it is a very quaint and attractive city. Thanks for watching!
Awesome place ! Great to know this place !
Thanks for watching! Stroudsburg and the surrounding areas is truly a unique place and maintains a strong Main Street vibe.
Coming for a visit from Dutchess County NY. I'll be walking those streets tomorrow..
I hope you enjoyed it and hope this video tour of Stroudsburg gave you some inspiration of what to do and see in this part of Pennsylvania.

Stroudsburg use to be a nice town then all the NYC people came there and it got overpopulated and things got high in price.
Haha they're looking for a way out of 1,000,000+ less than 1500sf apartments. NYC is way too overpriced and many seek the calmer and more affordable life within a relatively close distance.
And turn it into the dump they just fled, awesome!
Looks pretty nice to me
correction: it used to be a hillbilly shit hole and now it’s an urban shit hole

"No Dunkin' or McDonald's in sight." There's a Dunkin', McDonald's, and Starbucks right down the street.

Don't forget the Walmart over on the one end, and Wawa that's been there for years at the west end of the street...
Heyyy my town! I was born and raised there
That’s my home. New Yorkers have invaded and ruined it.
more like Jerseyans, also it always sucked bro. this is coming from someone born and raised here.
How did the NY'ers ruin it? I'm seriously asking (never been to Strousburg but thinking of buying there).
I posted a Pocono vlog bc u inspired me!💙
Very cool I'm glad. I'll check it out for sure and thanks for watching!
Visited Stroudsberg in the late 80s
Yes it is a beautiful city with an authentic main street vibe. How is it different now than in the 1980s?
