Norma went on to own 'Maxwells and Associates'/'The Great American High Diving Team'. College springboard divers worked for her in amusement parks around the world. I dove for her in Hong Kong at 'Ocean Park' and in Vancouver at 'The Big E' (an exposition, kinda like a county fair).
I just listened to a podcast about her life and my impression was that she wasn’t the first but was arguably the most famous. The crew with which she performed existed for awhile before she joined
For WML's production staff, this job was too good to be true "do you move about in your work?" " do you work with animals?" -- and on four different occasions, they booked various cute young things who worked the Atlantic City horse-diving circuit. Heigh Ho.
@@justafanintexas7913 Certain quiz shows from the 50s were indeed rigged, such as Twenty-One and Tic-Tac-Dough. But panel shows like What's My Line were not. There would be no point, there's no financial incentive for the panel winning or not. Also, on many episodes, panel members would disqualify themselves because they personally recognized the guest. Why would they bother doing this if it was rigged?
@@justafanintexas7913 You are so misinformed. Shows like Twenty-One were taken off the air because of a scandal. What's My Line however, was canceled in 1967 because of low viewership. It even had a brief revival in the 70s. There was never any scandal involving this show. You're just making stuff up!
If you find the movie, they made about this young lady and the diving horse , on the steel pier at Atlantic City . She is along for the Ride, it's the horse that does the diving!!!!
I have no idea. I've looked through almost all of these, celebrities as well as regular people and they can't answer the most simple questions in a correct way. Were people more stupid back then?
What a WONDERFUL SMILE!!!✨😊

Dorothy Kilgallen was really very pretty when she smiled.
Thank you!!! LOL i love Arlene's face when she first discovered she had figured out that woman's occupation :)
You could reflect light off her smile.
Had I been born earlier in the century I would have been horse diving girl!
Poor Dorthy. I’m fairly certain she had solved JFK’s assassination (yes, really) and was killed before she released the truth.
This clip comes from the 1959 broadcast in which the new WML set was unveiled.
This was the year my mother was born.
The original lady that dived was Sonora Webster In 1931, Sonora was blinded by a dive but continue to dive on the horse

Tom Poston was so cute and funny.
Thanls for the fun videos and your channel. The people clapped and gave it away. Will be back to watch more.

Arlene had the best expressions, particularly when she realized she had figured it out!
They just don't make 'em like John and Arlene any more...
Especially when they were tipped-off in advance and had Daley walking them into the answer with inane references that weren't needed.
How in the heck does Arlene just guess things by blurting them out! I love her
Because it turns out it was rigged and they got caught.

4:15 Oh SEXY, SEXY (nevertheless CLASSY) Dorothy! ✨
I was going to watch this but when I saw her line I didn't go further than this. Can't help but think it ended badly for the horse.
@fikr0401 Doesn't she look like the actress in the movie?!
She never answered the question of whether she entered the water from out of the water
Leave it to the audience to give it away again
Dorothy honed in on that a little to readily.
That's what I was thinking.I get sick of animals being subjected to human foibles.
"Do you dive?"
"No"
She's dives with a horse but she doesn't dive???

@@dwightlyon3643 agreed but the movie was made about Sonora Carver, not this lady. There were a few ladies that rode diving horses.
From a time when wolf-whistling wasn't considered 'harassment'.
From a time when abusing animals for amusement wasn't considered immoral.
@@LearnAboutFlow What about horse racing?

The panel knows beforehand.
thank god they don't allow this practice any longer.....poor animals.
It's not allowed because the insurance companies refused to write insurance policies covering the value of the horses.
I agree and would like to add that abortion is just as cruel.
What strange planet are these humanoids from?
This lady kind of irritated me.
