While recovering from the grief of a miscarriage and a dry, dying farm,
Mabel and Abraham are visited by a strange traveler who offers them a
chance to wager their true love for each of their deepest desires. Their deal leads to the magical growth of a suspiciously bountiful baby from within their own farm, and a torrent of much needed rain. Upon these miracles, the two are suddenly plunged into a slow growing nightmare of their own creation, eventually finding themselves pitted against one another and forced to face the visceral consequences of the question: how far will one go to get what they desire?

This captured the feel of a real folk tale remarkably well. More horror needs this kind of rawness.
Mabel is beautiful and I must say, it’s nice to see an all black cast for a change.
Extremely well put together. There's such an odd connection between cabbages and orphans. The Mind Unveiled channel has hours of deep dives into this. But this was a really great short.. MORE PLEASE!
Stories like this one have always lingered in my head. Personally, the thing that makes me uneasy is that there is no winning or being safe.
Either you deny the weary traveler entry to your home, and they curse you for your uncharitable nature, or you do the right thing by offering them your home and food and kindness, and they still trick you into some miserable outcome.
I thought the same.

This was an amazing film. Just beautifully done by all those involved on this project. This reminds me of all the little stories my great-grandmother used to tell me when I was a child down south. Love this!

Our own “rain man” aka production designer Luke Cahill made a rain machine from scratch using PVC Pipe, a handful of sprinkler heads, and an IBC tote that we used throughout production - it felt just as miraculous as it looks when it worked ☔️☔️☔️

Very well shot. Editing and great atmosphere throughout. Was he crazy and its like a folie au deux, spelling is bad but yeah, both nuts or was there a combo happening there at the end orwhats up!!

Great job, even when things were looking up, it had a pall hanging over it. But I feel as if I missed something. The stranger asks if he can partake in their love, and it looks as if he's groping Mabel under the table....did her allowing that lead to the Monkey Paw type deal?

I find myself waking up many times throughout the night thinking of all the things I have to get done the next day.
was waiting to here it thru out the film but to my surprise i didn't hear it and i thought to myself a black film setup of our folks in those times not having that in it thats a switch but then there it was the humming of sweet low sweet chariot in the ending credits
