This is one the greatest albums ever. I have been a rabid music omnivore for 20 years and nothing, absolutely NOTHING sounds like this album. The first time I heard two-headed boy pt2. with Jeff's plaintive cry "Daddy please hear this song that I sing" I wept like a child. Stunning.

I think, that while it may sound happy, the sadness from it is inescapable. The happy sounds always sound pained, at least to me. And maybe that’s all he can do, the happiest he can be; and that hits harder than anything I’ve ever heard.

I don't normally watch reaction videos but I've watched this at least 4 times. This album is very special to me, and one that can be very tough to get into. You approach the sound and the strangeness of it with an openness that I find truly admirable. The way you key into the 'spirit' of this album is a joy to watch. It is almost impossible to know exactly what the lyricist exactly means by all of this but it really does make you "nostalgic for something that never happened to me." It perpetuates and beautifies a kind of indescribable but immediately knowable sadness and joy that I think you make room in your listening to catch. Thank you for this!

History lesson - this album is the most popular to come out of a group of musicians called The Elephant 6 Collective, based in Athens Georgia outside of Atlanta. They all played on and produced each others albums, all lo-fi tape indie music. Other bands include: Apples in Stereo, the Olivia Tremor Control, The Music Tapes, and a few more. I have met several of them as some of them still play and my old band played with them sometimes. They are all really really nice and creative guys. A couple have passed away. I recommend checking out the other bands too. Really great stuff.
