The strip of fabric could also be kevlar or other durable materials. Doesn't need to be as big, either. Each company does it differently.
In the UK; a wood handle would never be accepted, it tends to be foam wrapped in leather or an injection mold (as shown)

When making something not metal look like metal with paint (especially shiny metal like chrome), a smooth undercoat of gloss black makes it look so much more like actual metal.
Never expect a property sword are made of foam.. that is just a cool work!

nah you can get good quality ready for battle weapons from epic armory for under a hundred.

yeah, a good portion of this brand in the video ( nemesis ) are over 500 bucks. nemesis is a tad on the expensive side as far as larp weapons go.
epic armory is another high end brand, most of their swords are in the 100 range, i dont think they even have any weapons over 300.
Nemesis makes some good swords, but they're expensive as fuck.
There are way cheaper, and just as good options out there.
Wow, I just looked at some of their stuff... Considering they're hand made, their prices are justified!

Those weapons look like trash. Only low budget films would use those.
Why would you buy a latex sword. I know two actual blacksmiths, if I buy a sword that's where it's happening. Not to mention if you want to swing a sword around, use the real thing (preferably learn how to use it first).
To use in larp combat. Since they are made of foam, you can hit someone with them relatively safely with minimal safety equipment. Real steel swords are only good for full armour combat, and still are prone to causing injury.
@@damiansforge Exactly. If I swing a sword at someone I want their head to role, not be slightly stingy at the point of contact.
But that's just me, if I'm violent I'm violent for real, it rarely happens but when it does there's a possibility of grotesque things being done.
