I've been a huge fan of Meshell since the 90's. I've seen her perform live 3 or 4 times. She always seems sad to me, but her music/art is always great.
I wish she only knew how many times her music soothed me.. Plantation Lullabies and Bitter live inside my soul. I'm so overjoyed I am discovering more of her melodies and that her voice gets to soar on Queen Sugar.
Me’Shell is my favorite artist of all time. Her music stretches in so many brilliant directions. It speaks to me in my current understanding yet has so many meanings and layers that I have just begun to process and really know on a deep level. It keeps me alive during the dark times in my life.
