Among Beethoven's shorter contributions to this genre, Sonata No. 25 in G major, Op. 79 has sometimes been referred to as "sonatina". A clear and simple opening movement leads to a pastoral G minor Andante and a rapid finale.
The Grammy award-winning pianist Daniel Barenboim has been active on the concert stage since the age of seven when he made his stage debut in his hometown of Buenos Aires. Well known for his work with the East-Western Divan Orchestra, a group of young Arab and Israeli musicians, he is currently the director of the Berlin State Opera, La Scala (Milan) and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Barenboim is described as "one of the few musicians in the world today who could accurately be describe as legendary".

Beethoven had such a big heart. One knows that when listening to the slow movements of his works, such as this one. Simply beautiful.
I found this piece's sheet music in my grandma's piano stuff and decided to give it a listen.
Your grandma is a virtuoso pianist.
Trevs This piece is not thaaaaat difficult, but it's beautiful :)

Only one is better than Barenboim, it't Barenboim. The golden age of Beethoven sonates.
i think Barenboim is the only person in the world who has done the full set of 32 sonatas twice. This recording when he was younger is better
Absolutely superb! So much expression! Bravo.
The articulation, dynamics and phrasing are perfect, I love this rendition!
So beautiful 😍 Beethoven sonata must go with Barenboim
Love this piece ... especially the 2nd movement
Beautiful beyond description!
素晴らしい❤
Definitely going to try to perform this marvelous work! As soon as I master both 19 & 20. I hope it will happen before 2022!
WOW!!! 😯 This is the best from all the other videos! 👍🏻🙂
Currently struggling with this one :,) Watching videos like this helps me understand what a piece is supposed to sound like and look at other musicians' point of view... Hope I'll pass my exams! 👍
O L Y Good luck on your exams!😊
@@kyunghwankim47 Thank you so much!!

Same here, I am playing this piece too for the ABRSM exam...

Комплексная красота. Музыка, помещение. Вот может же человек, когда хочет
Simply Perfect!
Absolutely sublime interpretation of the 2nd movement, I prefer this one over the other Barenboim on youtube
@Jože Ws i think he meant the newer performance by Barenboim

Thank you
Barenboim 41 years old . Also very well recorded !
Quelle merveille !
Brilliant
Is it just me that the beginning of the 3rd movement sounds like Chopin’s etude op 25 No.9? 6:28
Not at all! Chopin's etude is based on this part. I'm actually learning the etude and came here from Josh Wright's tutorial as he mentioned the reference!
This is one of beethoven's only chill pieces XD
Anyone else hear chopin op 25 no 9 in the beginning of movement 3?
yes 😂
I’m currently playing this piece and I can say that it’s easy to play when slow, however the precision and interpretation is fairly difficult at this speed
How does he use pedal without making it muddy. I’m really struggling with it
5 years ago I payed this for my ABRSM exam
3:25
just for ease so I know when the 2nd movement is :)
I am playing this piece on July 2nd and if you search the name Andy Wang I will be 5th. I feel like this piece is so well composed but somebody else is playing the exact same song as me out of 5 people😂😂😂😂 edit: the competition I’m in is the bccm music festival
