Hi, thanks for the insights into your probability calculator. What about all these RUclipsrs that do speedruns? At the start of the run they're like +2000. Although the gap keeps on narrowing, they get winning streaks of well over 100 games. Just an idea for content...

Yeah I am actually interested in learning more about how to calculate these odds for different scenarios-- might consider it!

Great statistical video. But you can not take only 9 streak win

    • @squareonechess6939

Yeah, the odds of a 9 win streak SOMEWHERE in 74 games is different

Kramnik has said nothing about Carlsen. Why drag him into it? Please take a look at Nakamura's 59-game win streak if you'd like to talk about improbabilities. I don't think Nakamura cheats, but at what point do the results raise eyebrows? 59, 100, 1,000?

Just poking fun, I think he is a bit overzealous in his (implied) accusations

oh will y0u QUIT with the 'god' thing? I watched him get beat, along with several others by kids not even past puberty!!! ... yes, he's still brilliant and even Magnus has the humility to understand that every day is a new day and won't even call himself so.....actually the secret to his brilliance (and adulthood)..I hope the puberty crowd learns that some day but they way they behave it worries me. Otherwise... you will discover your intellect is quit variable and FRAGILE, even subject to criticism rendering it sociopathic or even psychotic!

I think most people realize its a term that means he's playing extremely well... and of course I don't mean "The GOD", just "a god", you know like Baal... One of those bad false gods that is only there to destroy you.

Your attempt at statistical analysis is really bad. You did some extreme cherry picking. This was not a 9 game match. This was was a much longer sequence of 44 games, where you very deliberately chose to consider a run of 9 games. You could have chosen any run length, from 1 to 44, so there are 44 alternatives to choose from, but you chose only one of them, namely 9. Also, you very deliberately chose to start the run at one particular game, discarding 34 of the 35 different possibilities. Comparing this to a 9 game match is strange. The results from a 9 game match have little relevance to this 44 game match. Your reference to a very basic binomial distribution is of very little relevance.

VERY TERRIBLE. This guy should stick to poker and not do chess. This is the absolute trashiest analysis I've ever seen. What a joke. He's breeding stupidity, tbh, trying to pawn off what looks to be correct, and is absolute trash. I'm not going to even go into why the odds calculated are absolute idiotic, but suffice to say, even if they played an event like this, 30 days in a row, there is an extreme high probability that Magnus would get a 9 game winning streak due to human factors. Extremely high as in maybe 80%. This dude is a hack with the math. Retract this or add a disclaimer about the stupidity of the claim.
