Rarran, RegisKillbin, Zeddy, trump, thijs, kripp and other hearthstone youtubers all play different hs gamemodes. Duels, Battlegrounds, Standard, Arena and Wild are in the game that can new cards from new expansions to climb and win HS games.
Hearthstone is a card game based on WOW, it is also a digital card game.

I really enjoy that you let your guests talk. You only jump in when Reynad is done talking what makes viewing your videos a very chill experience. You two are such a good combo, i want to see more of that.
fun fact about Bane of Doom: there was a bug in the Majordomo Executus fight in Blackrock Mountain where if you killed Majordomo with Bane of Doom the demon being summoned would interrupt/replace Majordomo being transformed into Ragnaros, ending the fight and handing you the win immediately.

5:09 Kripp was pretty ticked off at the implied "random" in the effect of Dark Cultist, so there's one example at least.
I mean I know Reynad could be a bit of a meme in the day... but the dude was definitely knowledgeable. Honestly very curious to see how his game turns out.

The whole thing with the ogre effects is still one of my favourite little in-jokes in Hearthstone. It's only on very few cards, but a pretty clever implementation of glass half full vs. glass half empty.
Also in the couple of expansions where they did double negatives, they did it with an ogre card

The hearthstone community is really missing the mood Raynad brings. It's apathetic, yet somehow still conveys the necessary emotions. A strange confidence that comes from wisdom but also very obviously a cheeky bit of cockiness. It's very hard to describe the Reynad vibe in its entirety but it's unique to say the least.

One thing Reynad got a tiny bit wrong: Dragon tags have been in the game since vanilla, they just didn't do anything until Blackrock.
Yeah, I remember joking about this with friends because when a card was a murloc it would do certain stuff and dragon was just... there.
For those wondering why Reynad thought Webweave was 4 mana, it is because when the frozen throne was realeased blizzard told the community that originally they test it internally at 4 mana but was too broken. I just perfectly remember it like him lol.
Seems like thats one of the cases where 1 mana is the difference between broken and unplayable

@@Legendendear I remember it vividly cause I always thought it was surprising to have been busted at 4 because it was really shit at 5.
Several old cards definitely did lack the word 'random' early on, and had it added later. Believe Kripp called out one example in his video - Dark Cultist.

13:56 He's sort of right. Weapons used to indicate their class with a thin colored line around the text which is why he thinks it's much redder now. They changed it to be the full card when they introduced dual-class weapons.
I remember hating the old weapon border because it was so hard to figure out which class a weapon was from, especially with the K&C legendary weapons.
Rarran is my favourite hearthstone content creator because he never disappoints with his content. He upload as frequently as possible and he is nice and funny
It’s crazy to me because he provides the type of content that makes me think
“yeah, this is great. But he’s gotta keep coming up with new ideas, so who knows how long this can last”

I haven't even played hearthstone since Whispers of the Old Gods, and I still watch all of the videos, it's somehow fun on its own.

See the best part about Soulfire/Bane of Doom was not just styling on them by summoning a demon, but by also having the sheer confidence that Soulfire won't discard it
and as Reynad said you HAD to do soulfire first because, you know, it's not about winning, it's about sending a message

Coldlight Seer buffed ALL murlocs. Reynad was correct!
Demon Hunter has demons because Illidan betrayed the night elves, joined the Burning Legion, and transformed into a demon to fight the Legion from the inside using their own powers. The Illidari followed his example and used demonic powers against the demons. Then when Illidan defeated Magtheridon and took control of the Outlands, Magtheridon's demon army swore allegiance to Illidan.

Didn't know how much i missed Reynad until I watched this video, wasn't really ever a big fan of him but I respected his knowledge of cardgames in general he knew what it was good or bad without having to actually play it
Deadass just rewatched the first one a couple minutes ago and then this drops. My joy is immeasurable and my day has been made.
I love the fact you can just play along, and the fact that because I played till nearly the exact same set as Reynad makes me all the more impressed with the stuff he remembers.

I don’t think deathrattles specify “random”, because you can never select targets of deathrattles anyway. So piloted shredder doesn’t say random, but the minion is random
Lightwell, in this very video, heals a random character without saying it's random. I actually thought that it was the Rarran change at first !
@@Darkprosper because end of turn effects (and I believe start of turn as well) never let you select a target anyway. So it follows the same rule as deathrattle: if you’d never have a say anyway, it won’t bother mentioning random because it’s implied.
@@KlutchAndJerel Yeah but most deathrattle do specify random. Hearthstone card text is just really inconsistent sometimes.

Theres actually another mistake with the coldlight seer if im not going crazy. In the video it didnt have the murloc tag. As far as i can tell in all versions of the card it is a murloc. I couldnt find another comment pointing this out yet

When Reynad popped up again last week on Twitch for 2 days of Classic, I was super pumped.
All of this series is very good. Hats off to you Rarran. But reynad specifically... amazing stuff. Excited for us all to get behind him and show our support for Bazar later this year!
I recently got back into Hearthstone and had no idea who you were, but you're easily one of the most entertaining creators on here, keep it up!

Somebody has to point that out, but considering that he hasn't played HS for years, haven't really "came back" and has been developing other game for 4 years now, compared to other regular professional players, Reynad managed INSANELY well. Maybe straight up best so far. Thorough people like Trump (no offense, also a very good player) had surprising incomparable results. I guess different people are very different when it comes to unusual situations.
Reynad has actually been playing a bit of Classic. He tried climbing to Rank 1 in Classic mode the other day, but I don't know if he managed to get it or not.

Reynad invented Hearthstone. Technically he was 100% correct in every guess.
I do believe that in classic hearthstone murloc buffs were universal so Reynad was right on one of the things wrong with Coldlight Oracle.

These hearthstone OGs will always have the imprints burned into their brains. It’s sad to think the changing meta ultimately drew them away while also adding new things. This is a great little series Rarren. Go get Ben Brode next to see if he remembers them all!

i just quit HS 2 months ago, but i also played since it began like reynad & kripp, i got over 250 golden legendaries, over 40k wins, etc, but i also thought these were pretty easy

It's funny Reynad had this idea that the dragon subtype didn't exist until later. It was always there on the cards but didn't have any synergies until blackrock so I guess his brain just didn't consider it important since it had no mechanical effect.
Rarran too young confirmed. Lance carrier was a great card in zoo. You are going super easy on these veterans.

The idea of the demon hunter is that he uses fel energy and demonic influences to fight demons, like fighting fire with fire. It's a common trope of the hero corrupting himself fighting the antagonist, but it being the only way to win and protect others or something
Yeah, and notably they don’t hunt all demons more specifically the burning legions. They’re more than willing to treat vilehounds like regular ol warhounds, and work with any demons who want to help.
Yeah, they practically turn themselves into demons in order to better fight demons. So "demon hunter" has a nice double meaning.

Actually impressed how well Reynad remembered stuff from that long ago. My favourite part was the Ogre Warmaul, I actually got that one correct because I remembered they made Optimistic Ogre xD

Haven't played Hearthstone in years, but I played it for hours a day back in 2014, up until Frozen Throne I believe..? I know for sure I played A TON until Whispers of the old Gods. Kinda stopped playing after the Standard and Wild split came out.
Anyways, lovely seeing all these old cards I recognize knowing how the game was at the time

Gnomish Experimenter is one of my favorite cards, I played it for a long time after it released.
It's great because in my paladin deck:
I wanted to draw spells, and most minions were very high cost, so when this turned a 10 mana deathwing into a chicken on turn 3, not only did I get one card closer to my spells, I also got a chicken.
If this man makes a game, I want to play it. Feeling great hearing from Reynad and getting excited about the Bazaar at the same time.

Whelp, this video is over a year old and I've never heard of The Bazar in my life... so I guess I know how that turned out.
okay guys i know this is old but the fact you dont know about the demonhunter lore itches me to explain it. the OG demonhunter is Illidan and he is a nightelf who hunts demons but got tempted and corrupted by their power and became a half-demon himself and in order to become even more powerful, he made a pact with kil'jaeden, a demonlord from the burning legion. thats why his army is made up partially of demons.
Illidan initially fought the demons of the burning legion during their initial invasion and when Sargeras tried to walked up from bottom of the well of eternity in the middle of the world at which is now the maelstrom after the pangea continent cracked in two, maybe northrend was part of that I don't know. Demon hunter is hunter of demons but then he became one and trained others to be what he was.
If you read the original lore before they had much of a plan, Illidan is blind because he's kept in darkness for ten thousand years after the sundering.
I could actually tell Dwarven Defender was a fake card solely because for some reason Blizzard never fucking makes any card dwarves. You'd forget dwarves were even a race in WoW with how they never show up. Like we got two dwarven heroes and a random legendary or two, but random minions are almost never dwarves for some reason. I know this because dwarves are my favorite fantasy race and it makes me sour that Hearthstone never seems to have any.
This video was actually really fun. It's great to get insight and tidbits of history from the mind of Reynad.

No cards that have a random effect that don't use the word "random"? I think there's this old bad priest 0/5 minion that heals a random minion at end of turn that doesn't use the word "random". Can't remember what it's called though.
I stopped playing hs at around Uldum, but man are your videos entertaining and makes me remember some cards of old. Keep up the great work!
No they are Hunters of demons but they just use demon powers. Very common media video game trope. Blade is a half vampire Gray wardens etc etc. You become what you hunt to hun them better.

Demon hunter is not part demon part hunter, it is in fact a hunter of demons. The reason that this class includes demons is that Iliidan - the original demon hunter- consumed a demonic power source in order to be able to hunt down demons. Fighting fire with fire.

Reynad is right. The Lightwell is random but doesnt say random. Random wasnt always stated back then.
