In my opinion, Byther Farm is one of the best examples of how you can produce a huge amount of food whilst being on a tight budget. This is self-sufficiency in the truest form. Find out how Liz went from being bedbound due to illness to now being self-sufficient as well as feeding 20 other local families in just a few short years. This is what permaculture is about, this is proof that dreams can be realised no matter how little resources you may have available. Liz started with creating a raised bed vegetable garden and now has a full small-scale homestead featuring a maturing food forest, poultry, undercover growing and much more.
Order the book directly from Liz for a signed copy: bytherfarm.com...

With huge thanks to Liz Zorab for her time and patience: / @lizzorab

Today is a very special day. It is the launch day for Liz's fantastic book Grounded, which is a biography of turning her field into a thriving small-scale Permaculture Homestead in only 4 years. It is such an inspiring story and I know this because I was fortunate enough to read it a few months ago to write the foreword for it. You can order your copy of Grounded here: shop.permaculture.co.uk/grounded.html Or check the description for other places to buy. Happy watching🌱😀

That is so true! My garden gave me a lot of comfort this past year and helped me feel not quarantined and isolated too much. I felt I could still go out into nature and the growing veggies and flowers reminded me that nature and time does go on - even if it doesn't seem like it these days!

Fabulous! I so loved this. I would love to meet Liz one day. She is such an inspiration. I’d happily get lost in her garden. I’d probably be near the ducks and the cat a lot of the time lol. I have my dog and my rabbits in my garden along with all the little creatures which are expanding as my soil improves. I know what she means when she is alone but doesn’t feel alone. I talk to the frogs the bees the worms and centipedes. All the little creatures fascinate me and I think about them making their living and leading their lives alongside mine and hopefully I don’t harm them as I go about my cultivation.

Worse thing is people with comments like yours live in cities and eat "organic" thinking they're saving the world! Save your dollars and make a change. Organic in the store is a farce. Those that preach change can't or won't practice it. This type of farming is hard work, but easier in the long run. I've bought my land and got a well. The dream is real. It was and is no easy feat. One year to build, now saving all my pennies. Together we can make change and perhaps one day or year this will be my video and not my comment lol! 😉

I’ve read eating lifestyle can can correct the issue but doctors will down play this. They all believe only meds can help. 🤦. I’ve corrected other things with eating lifestyle and have been interested / curious if I could in fact alter my thyroid issue by my eating lifestyle.

Such a lovely idea. It is a shame we we don't have enough land to do this to feed the whole of the UK.
Evil monoculture? We would have mass starvation if we didn't have it. What is evil about that? It is a blessing and a curse. I aim to have my garden like this but I have to work full time as well. Being able to cooperate with others in the world (i.e. being living to our neighbours) is what has made humans thrive. Monoculture is not ideal and we can learn and improve but let's all work together rather than create another divide. Let's promote permaculture and look at the benefits. I'd love to see it on a mass scale competing with monoculture

I simply love Liz. She's an inspiration . Loneliness existing only if you feeling alone. How is possible to feel alone with such a life around you. I wish her all the best with her book. Thank you for sharing Huw. 👍😍

I've been supporting Liz' channel for the past months and I had no idea of what she had been through. I'm 25 now and I discovered my hypothyroidism at the age of 6. It is a *** condition, but you can start treating it right away and, at least here in Brazil, is a very cheap treatment. Get your exams done and go to the doctor at least once a year!!!!
    Great video!

Huw, thank you so much for sharing Liz's beautiful story. Her place is so gorgeous. Whenever I've watched her videos before they are very focused and tight so it was really wonderful to see more.

This is just lovely and so good to hear how Liz's health has improved. That just inspires me to work at my small veg plot and try and grow something this year. Last year was my first year trying and it didn't quite work out. Nothing grew but I now know my soil needs a bit off work. But with the help if Liz. Huw and Charles I think I might make a better job of it this year. Must get that book.🥕🍅🌰

YOU are my inspiration!! As at the age of 59yrs. I've embarked on the challenge of starting a non-profit garden on the LOT next door to MY church!!! And been doing it all alone by myself!! BUT with my bad heart I have to pace myself so right now the LOT looks like what is she doing!!! BUT!! I know that I'm starting with a grass and weed filled lot! So lasagna! Lay cardboard then hugel culture!!! Very hard but enjoyable work!! BUT! This! You SHOW me that it can BE done!!! Thank YOU!🙏💝

Liz is such an inspiration; she seems like such a lovely, warm, thoughtful, down-to-earth person. She's going to be a big influence on both my thinking and my new half-acre. I was delighted to get my email that my copy of Grounded was on the way.

I'm trying to grow my own foods. I just went out at 11:00pm to get afresh cucumber and tomato for my salad. I'm trying to grow completely organic and its been hard work keeping bugs away. But its also satisfying knowing where my food came from and that I have now even created the soil myself this year. I also feel so much better getting away from processed foods and tv dinners I was living on with some home cooked meals. But my diet was for shit. So much I had health issues that they could not figure out. I know now saving myself it was my diet. We have to change because the old pesticide ways are killing us and our planet.
