Wonderful video! You did a great job explaining the pros and cons to these methods. You also have a great camera presence! :)
Thank you so much for the kind words! Your channel is a huge inspiration and one of the reasons I started a channel of my own. Thank you for the great content and for shedding such a positive light on these amazing animals that we all love!
Snake Discovery omg hi I can’t believe you know him a bet he was so happy
Snake discovery is why I watch this channel 😂
Hi emily
Awww a comment from one of the best ppl in the world and probably the single person making hog nose snakes a must have pet💜
I'm a 16 year, and I've been keeping reptiles since I was 6, and my first reptile was a russian tortoise, that I still have today. Now I have a rescue black albino cornsnake, and a tegu. I'm obviously going to continue growing my collection, but for now I'm working on making my own reptile room. But recently I started a business called Sagebrush Pet Discovery, where I travel around my state (MT) and educating kids in preschools, birthday parties, and events. I pay my own tax, have all my permits, and have my business listening. I have a second job as well, but for the most part I'm getting 500 bucks every 3 months just from my business alone. Keep in mind I'm only 16, my parents aren't rich, I sometimes help pay the bills, and ever since I was 6 I've been paying for my animals myself, all 15 of them, 3 of those being horses. So all this to say, is that educating, and owning a business pays off. I get to do what I love every day! I've made over $500 every 3 months and I live in a town with 5000 people, and I only travel 2 hours away from my county. Don't let anything hold you guys back! Your dream may not be as far out of reach as you think!
w
Yea its good energy. All the best. We need ppl like U ! :)
I don't have a reptile store in my area so I hope to start one.
that would be great
You can monopolise the industry in your area
@Scaly Mates yes more reptiles available in Wa the better
There isn't even such thing as a reptile store in my country, I'd love to build one
Here you have to juggle general pet stores and fishing ones to get what you need, plus hardware stores for... hardware
How is it going
I’m actually a licensed vet technician & only worked with four legged animals until I started working for exotic vets & found what I really love & now 32 snakes 6 lizards & 5 frogs later it’s addicting like tattoos!
My girlfriend is a vet tech too, she's collecting axolotls like you are reptiles and frogs haha
LOL that’s awesome!
Lol I like your account name
@@godlovesmysnakesandtattoos5084 I have a question I’m 14 and looking for a job that involves reptiles but I know I’m young but I’m just curious, how would I become a vet tech and just be with like reptiles
s e r i o u s l y make sure you have space 😂 I’m knee deep in gecko babies!
hahah same!
😹😹😹
What kind of gecko babies?
@@venomite7458 Last year I bred leos, this year I’m focused on african fat tails and tarantulas lol. Breeding leopard geckos was just practice, wouldn’t do it again...wasn’t worth it Imo.
My dad got 2 snakes when I was around 5 and then they passed away because of old age but that was when I got interested and so a few years later my dad and myself decided we wanted a snake again so we had the 2 enclosures from the previous snakes and we got 2 ball pythons both albinos and then someone asked if we were breeding them and we had never even had the thought of breeding them but then my dad started researching and found it very interesting and since my dad had extra money he decided to build snake racks and now we have 24 ball pythons and 5 boas and have invested over 20k into snake breeding in hopes of it becoming a job for both of us
We had a guy who came to my elementary school every year until he unfortunately passed. He would go all over the world and take pictures and videos of awesome animals, really inspired me to love all animals.
I would love to hear about how to make money breeding reptiles.
sounds good!
Same, I would love to hear what you have to say. I am in the process of setting up to breed tortoises. Which is REALLY a slow wind up, when nothing breeds earlier than 6-8 years.
would love to see you interview Emily at Snake Discovery as her primary income is from putting noneducational shows with her reptiles you two could talk logistics hearing a real brass tacks type interview about putting on shows would be cool
I would love, absolutely love to talk to Emily about that!
Non educational shows??
@@janemh5866 That was my question too.
I love you Adam,, pls make a breeding video next week to talk about the fiscal and management sides of breeding as well as the pros and cons that you personally experience from it.
you got it!
My hope is to have a shop that also doubles as a platform for local breeders to display and sell some of their animals, and a rescue and rehabilitation location. I have an egg-eater project and other plans so it’ll be a nice way to integrate my passion and business
that's awesome!
I’d love to do programs, especially for kids and to clear the stigma around snakes. Make it more of a side gig to have fun and educate people on proper care and recourses. I also want to breed hognose snakes. Not to make money, but make them more accessible for people who are interested. They’re so hard to find around here but such beautiful snakes
this is an awesome way to look at things!
I am going to have my son watch this video. He is 11 and loves animals. I am encouraging him to learn as much as possible and share his enthusiasm and knowledge with other kids. He wants to do some breeding projects, but doesn't realize how much work it's going to be. i want him to use his current collection to do some outreach. And we started a RUclips channel. Not so much to make money, but to have fun and learn (of course if it ever does become monetized so much the better). In regards to social media my biggest fear is the internet trolls and the possibility of saying or doing something wrong and then getting the fallout from all of the other "experts" out there. And what you said about a new skill set is very important. Our first big video took me 12 + hours to edit! A feat I could now probably accomplish (18 months later) in 3. Keep up the good work. - Colin's Dad
that's awesome! thanks for watching !
I was so happy to see you and your son’s channel is still going strong 3 years later! That’s a level of dedication you don’t see every day. He’s a bright, personable and articulate young man, and it’s so wonderful that you support and encourage his interests. I predict he is going to be a fantastic educator or animal professional some day, and I wish you both all the best. As a veterinarian, I admit I wouldn’t be mad if he decided to become a wildlife or exotics vet 😄. I just subscribed to your channel, and I look forward to seeing it continue to grow.
@@DocBree13 Thank you for your kind words and the sub. He (both of us really) has certainly come a long way since I made my comment. Since making that post he has done a handful of local outreach programs, successfully bred his Chameleon Geckos and plans to breed some snakes this year. He is only 14 so a definitive career decision is still a ways off, but he has talked about becoming an Exotic Vet. Whatever he decides I am sure it will revolve around animals and he will be happy doing it which will in turn make me happy. Thanks again, - Colin's Dad
I decided to start making my own Hides, and I've already got 2 orders. I super stoked.
Love the concept of doing something lucrative based on our weird families.
I like the idea of doing demonstrations with them. Most owners of any exotic pet I know end up learning as much as they can about their animal's behavior and such just because it makes them more enjoyable to keep and lets one know if something isn't right. Most also enjoy showing their pets off to others who may not have seen them before. I don't think I'd even care if I got paid to do it because it would be fun.
100%
I used to breed lovebirds and I made enough to ALMOST cover my cost but had to stop when i moved for school. As far as I'm concerned, that was a success. It paid for my breeders as well as my non breeding pet cockatiels.
I'd like a video about breeding snakes because I'm considering doing that. I want to know if its something I want to do, down the line. I still have a lot to learn about general husbandry.
very cool!
The bio dude probably comes to mind for everyone, and he deserves the free shoutout every time lol.
I have liked his videos since way before I started my own channel :)
Great video Adam. Would just like to add breeding feeders also helps with the cost of keeping reptiles whether it be breeding mice, rats or super worms. I was thinking of breeding horned worms one day.
I want to start a reptile store that isn’t pet smart or Petco and takes good care of their animals
If you are near Denver, I will be your customer and volunteer cleaning tubs....
that would be great
If I got the opportunity to do that, (which I hope to), I would LOVE to start something like that!
I’ll volunteer to clean and help!
I would love to be the owner of pet smart or petco to shut it down
I've gotta give it to you mate, your clearly very smart putting ads in strategic spots like right before the number 1 spot on your lists. Keep up the great work, your very underrated.
If you're artsy or crafty you can also do decor and stuff to sell for pets and reptile enthusiasts
Like terrarium decor, or reptile sculptures, photos on canvas even, paintings etc
Sky is the limit when there is passion
I guess the most important with all these points is your locality. It effects your income, spending and all that.
I have a video idea, I noticed you haven't done a video on reptile health problems but it probably would mess with your video aesthetic. Great video man!
not a bad idea! thanks
This guy needs more subs his videos help others in the industry you can be compared to Snake discovery or Clint’s reptiles also were I am from we had about four reptile shops but now there is only one left! Which is sad because I loved to see them when I was young.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
You don’t need to thank me it’s just a fact
Thanks for the wonderful video! We started doing educational programs this year and it has been so amazing. People love learning about our snakes and taking pictures with them. We're hoping to grow an audience on this channel as well! :)
very cool!
@@WickensWickedReptiles Thanks! We recently got a surprise clutch of eggs from our ex-breeder ball python. They should hatch in about 10 days and we are anxious to see the babies! I am not a breeder, so this was quite the surprise.
I would like to see that breeding video! Also, Love your channel, keep up the good work! And I hope Pikachu and Medusa's clutch come out well!
thanks!!
One other thing I do on top of breeding is I started an online reptile store, then buy from reputable wholesalers so I can then supply breeders and other pet stores. But as a breeder and not an idiot at petco, I know the care needed for each reptile bought and sold. So it’s not crazy money; but it helps during the off season.( I have an LLC as a reptile store, so everything is legal.)
cool!
I would love to see a video about breeding
I've done quite a few, check them out :)
Great video!!! I love ur channel u give soo much good information out💯
I’d love to do some custom enclosures or something but lumber prices are way too high right now it’s something like 50 bucks for a single sheet of plywood just a couple of years ago it was like 10 bucks hopefully it goes back down soon
In Canada it's $98 a sheet...... bro
I’m just getting started on my enclosure business/animal youtube channel and this video boosted my confidence about it so much
Awesome vid as always, such a great yt channel! Would be curious to see an in depth guide on the supply side that goes into breeding and selling mice, fish, frogs, insects as reptile food. Thanks for putting your knowledge and passion on video for us to enjoy!
My son wants to start videos. Just downloaded and purchased editing. He is so determined. He’s 11. As a parent you this video was great. Always enjoy watching
Your awesome!! Thank you for the ideas!!!
Glad you like them!
I’m just starting this channel one of my plans is making wooden hides and climbs along with perches and chews for other exotic animals as well I’m looking forward to the learning curb and putting my work into it
Another thing you could do is build your own mini zoo if you enough variety in your reptile collection. And also the tons of money you would need to have to sink into building or renovating an entire building plus all the enclosures to fit each animal’s needs.
I worked as an assistant for a reptile education thing one summer. I learned a ton and made a decent amount
That’s good legit info. Thanks for the video Adam.
thanks!
It would be awesome if you could find the most expensive snakes or reptiles you could possibly get.
not a bad idea
Thx
Ms. Corvino, the real OG
Found out she taught my mom in Highschool too.... true OG
The slow zoom is so dramatic 😂 currently trying to figure out where to start in starting my own reptile shop/education program so this is a big help 🥺
I love your videos!! 💚💚🦎🐍
Milking hots would be a cool video, many cons but the pros are just as fulfilling!
for sure
I liked the add placement. Nice one! 😄
haha glad you like it!
Good info. I learned some things.
glad it helped.
I was considering looking into pet-sitting for reptiles (like how people go out to houses to check on cats and dogs), but then the virus happened and I doubt people will be taking many vacations anytime soon.
There's also related arts and crafts, but that is a skillset too.
for sure!
I’m 16 and pet sit reptiles in-home and it’s great passive type income. I work a 9-5 and come home to take care of the reptiles. It’s truly a great way to make side income
Well done man💪🏽
thanks!
how is this channel not bigger than it is
hoping it grows one day :)
Id love to help you with those shows one day!! Ive got some reptile experience so I think id be good for the job
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLZ!!
ok
We dont have a reptile store in my area, but my husband and I are trying to get into breeding ball pythons and leopard geckos. I think another good thing to research and learn is morphs and how to tell which morph is which. I'm glad we have time to learn that part because that can be the most difficult part in my opinion. Itd be great to see a video about how to identify morphs. 😁
Learning morphs is the easy part. Running the business is the hard part.
I want to not only breed snakes, but be a sort of ambassador for snakes and other reptiles. To show people that they're not scary and should be respected. I want to educate kids mostly.
that is very cool!!!
I would love if you would go full depth in breeding cause I am trying too and would love your deeper thoughts
Another way: if you're good building stuff then build enclosures. Good at growing plants? Grow vivarium plants. Like bugs? Breed bugs. The line for bugs at the exotic pet shops around me have tons of people buying bugs. From isopods to wingless fruit flies.
Great video brother!
thanks bros!
i want to personally start a reptile program so i can educate little kids on reptiles and invertebrates:)
100%
Another thing you could do: with the popularity of bioactive enclosures only seeming to go up, breed isopods and springtails. It's not super difficult and there is a large demand. Also feeder animals or breed hard to find niche feeders like quail eggs of snails.
Great video
You just reminded me to turn my ad blocker off for youtube.
Three seconds before he said having an ad right now, I had one just then
Such helpful info! :-)
glad it helped:)
I wish they’re was a reptile business that’ll buy from breeders and still be able to flip it. Because I would love to partner with a reptile to sell my Ackie monitors so people have a chance to buy ackies in person
I'm actually working on getting into education with them I'm raising up a couple diff species and am sooo excited about it can't wait for this covid stuff to b done
that is so awesome!
I would love a detailed video on breeding for beginners or something like that
great video!
thanks!
I personally would never breed because there are already so many but I would rather open a shop that takes in rescues and unwanted animals then rehome them to proper homes and sell repte supplies and feeders.
that sounds awesome!
You might want to check out GoHerping, who runs Emerald Scales, which takes in animals and rehomes them for people, much like what you want to do
I think programs are a great idea. It's something I hope to do when I have a few more reptiles and when my reptiles are older. My beardie is almost 8 but my corn snake and my soon to have carpet python are juveniles. Once they are older I might ask to do a program for reptiles at my elementary school and library
seems like such a rewarding thing to do
Good video, thanks. I would like to see video about how to socialize (make tame) snakes. Is every snake able to be socialized? etc..;)
ruclips.net/video/OidNTUbYVLc/видео.html
I honestly don’t think people put a lot of time in to thinking about Braden It takes a good five years just to break even and even after then your margins are razor thin you can make money but it’s gonna take a lot of time and effort great video as always
yup!!
FYI I think you can start an education program with the collection you have now. You and quite a few other channels have inspired me to want to start an animal education program. I don’t quite have any animals currently but Im planning on getting some reptiles gradually and other types of pets. ❤️
I guess we'll see soon ;)
Do a video about Leachianus Geckos aka Giant Geckos! 💯 Love your way to explain the aspects of keeping reptiles. Shoutouts from Germany bro 👌
Thanks for the idea! Love from Canada!
I would love to go around with various animals and teaching kids about them and conservation! That’d be so cool
right!
I made a substantial sum just growing leopard geckos. I raised them from tiny babies to adults and tripled what i paid for them. Did that 1 summer with butterfly koi too- less profit but still.
Could you tell me more details about this? I know I’m never going to make a killing breeding reptiles, but I’d love a self sustaining hobby
I have been watching since 500 Subs 👍🏼
You the real MVP!
Very awesome info! I’m going the education route! Just waiting until I have enough $ to purchase the insurance 😁
yes the insurance can be expensive
I would like to start my reptile room first
having one is pretty sweet
Breeding feeder insects is easy and making shed skin jewelry is something I would like to start monetizing.
Im 17 and Im starting to get into reptile breeding. I only have 2 gargoyle geckos, but I plan on expanding and getting more animals. So far I’ve just been getting cheap tanks on craigslist lol. There are just basic pet stores near me,none that have different/unique animals so I hope it works out:)
very cool!
Near me there's a reptile rescue and I want to volunteer there
I would love to see that vid
for sure
the background crinkle is weird lol could you do a video on breeding and selling feeders?
Please make a video on making money with breeding, and about what it takes.
good idea
Could you do a video on breeding hognose snakes? I'm planning on breeding my pair but want to make sure I do it right
ruclips.net/video/5xxHWn8mz6s/видео.html
I would love a video of the ins and outs of breeding reptile's pls
ruclips.net/video/sJa6hc_bKdU/видео.html
Video idea: Adam roasts all of his reptiles
Kidding lol
Great video as always!
Research is very important a few years back I got 11 baby dumerlis boas for $150 because he couldn’t move them and couldn’t afford to keep them
I held back 2 and was able to move the rest but wasn’t easy wasn’t overly in a rush to move and made sure everyone went to a good home be careful who you sell to as well I gave 2 to a friend and she went on to sell them after having her baby and the guy she sold to sold them for double I recognized Atkins and ekins head pattern off the hop and bought them back so they didn’t end up in a dry plain box to live the rest of their giant lives in
I'd love a detailed video of breeding! I got a small collection of snakes and all.
I've got a few already, hogs, Leopard geckos, etc. :)
I've been waiting for this one
You got it :)
Do a whole vid
someday i would love to "rehab" and rehome beardies lol
I think I want to try breeding in a particular niche. The goal would really just be to recoup the costs of caring for my pair/trio. I wouldn't upscale unless that was especially successful and demand was proven.
100 thou yeah boi!!!
We had been talking with my school about coming in and doing some educational talks with the primary grades. I guess we will have to try again next year (thanks Covid!).
That is awesome! post covid will be awesome for you!
10:40, We need to get this man a huge following.
that would be a dream come true
I like this video, cause it changes it up but still involves our passion for reptiles. Have you made a great for handling reptiles list, cause I’d like to see some reptiles who are good for handling
Top 5 best handling coming soon!
I agree with your #1, The absolute best way to make some good money is to build custom enclosures. People who build them are far and few inbetween.
agreed!
U would b great going around and educating 👌 u have the personality that makes everything very interesting 👍🏻
Thank you so much 😊
You made great points. All my dreams are dead now
ooh another video
ohhhhh yeahhhhh
I have a questions what is the most popular reptile that maybe anyone would buy and what morph is popular??
