I can’t have any more children, and I’ve worked with special needs kids, before. I do feline rescue, and only adopt terminal or disabled cats (I only have 2…don’t panic). Because I had an addiction in the past, was in foster care myself, plus have major health problems, they would never let me adopt, but there are people who check all the boxes who would adopt a disabled child, too. I’ve had two neighbors who did. I’m sure I could do foster care, because my foster parents were felons. Some people love it, and maybe it would change her life. When it doesn’t, I think it’s either because a parent didn’t get parenting skills or bonding from their parents. They want someone to love, but the child has to know love, consistent, responsive care, and nurturing from the parent to become a loving person. Otherwise, they develop an insecure attachment, avoidant behavior, and become more difficult to love.
