Absolutely beautiful! One question. At about 1:42 in the video you show the battery tray being mounted to the bottom, but I noticed a decent amount of wobbly from that even when it was clamped down (as they plugged it in). Wouldn't that be really bad?
After you plugged it in you close the clamp and its going to be rock solid. This is a piece by freefly and used on all sets for movies and other payloads, so its very solid even it seems so. I was also skeptical :)
Looks a lot like the drones I built a year ago for Nascar. Nice to see more people actually engineering structure into frames instead of just drawing shapes and playing Tetris with the components like most of this industry. Well done.
@@EllisvanJason It's not available to the public unfortunately, but the core structure of the design is a similar concept and it works extremely well. Okay so I see you have used Chris Rosser's truss design style to base your design. Sure intelligent hot swap batteries and a metallic camera mount are good design choices for professional customers. But frames that have been tried and tested are already out there which support a red komodo. It will be a lot more convincing once someone compares your product with those.
Did not copy chris at all. Why should we 😅 I believe our design is more advanced and has much more than just a truss. Truss is a basic structure. If you think chris invented it, you are wrong 🤓 vertical arms is not something new, and so truss. Also our truss is different and soon will be more complex so we move fast and we dont beed to copy others 😎💪 well then bu the other frame if you want to get 4-5 min flight time and lots of sag 😂👌 just flew 9 min with a 90-100km/h so in my opinion this changes so much 🚀
@@EllisvanJason impressive. Well yeah I know Chris didn't invent trusses. I didn't say you copied per se learning from his findings is nothing wrong. Did you mean to say your setup has no sag ? Very interested in obtaining this Startruss Drone , but my only question is if with a cine camera it lasts 9-10 min , how long will last with a standard gopro 12 ?
We seriously need better battery tech yesterday. That's the only thing holding back a lot of technologies being developed so far. But then again, i think it's the military that will have access to those a few years before consumers can obtain them.
0:00 You have a red foam on your Goggles 2. Can you link to that? I've been pretty unhappy with the fit (nose mostly) of the original foam and the replacements I've found to date. I haven't seen that particular one yet. Can you provide any details or is just a different color of the OEM thing? And...Sorry to drag this a totally mundane direction. Amazing stuff.
The capability of your drone is amazing. Congrats. What about a video collaboration where you are going to catch us in-flight for an Air2Air shooting in our single engine Aircraft? One more question/comment and I might have no idea what I am talking about, but I noticed you are using the Lumenier 4 in 1 ESC instead of separate APD ESCs. Most other cinelifters that I have researched seem to be running the APD ESCs. Is this set up better, the same, or worse?
Apd was almsot the only one. Now new players enter the market. Bl heli32 based esc are so easy to setup and well integrated in betaflight. Also flew the lumenier for couples of weeks and no issue 😎✌️works perfectly on startruss 🚀
its to save on money, installing separate escs would make it easier to fix any problems that may arise from a hard days use, but 4 in 1 escs are cheaper than individual escs
These 2 look so nice! That’s sick mounting the gimbal. just throwing out an idea to look into helicopters that follow wrc cars (world rally championship & inside the helicopter are a pilot & a camera operator controlling the gimbal mounted camera).. similar speeds(+200kmph), similar stage times (battery lifetime).. many drivers though, so you'd need many drones ready to go and multiple fpv pilots.. mountains, valleys, dense forests, night time environments, rain, storm, are an issue though, but maybe you can figure something out
Think of the time of a typical shot…. seconds. Ten minutes is a lifetime! It is not best to wait in the air where one can’t swap batteries or SD cards while the rest of the crew resets a shot. In tightly timed sequences, the pre positioning of assets (camera rigs of all types) is critical.
