    The Raider's defense, which was #1 in scoring once AP took over, is intact from last season. The offense is learning a completely new system, and they just started pads. Just watch the highlights from AOC last season. He's got a good arm, is accurate, reads defense, and does just about everything that you need a QB to do. He's not a runner like some other QBs, but who cares? He was told to stay in the pocket. You guys are going to be shocked when you see him play this season. If they don't win at least 9 games, then it would have to be due to injuries.

    The raiders were not hoping for a very injury prone lefty. As a raiders fan I'm glad we didn't reach or give up multiple 1st rounders for the 3rd or 4th best QB in the draft. Next year is a good year to be looking for a vet qb or If adian is the guy ala Brock Purdy or tb12 (who was really bailed out by team ball his first few years and didn't really look elite until about season 6) wild card is probably ceiling but the chargers are going into some rebuild, and the Broncos might pick 1st except the panthers might be the first team to finish last 3 times in a row. We have good personnel to keep kermit15 running and gunslinging and putting him in position to make errors. The media loves the jets and Chargers ... Prepare for disappointment there...

    The Chargers had the worst offensive line and the 28th ranked defense last year. Did they do much to remedy this? A coach and a new facility are not enough to move the needle that much. They have a solid QB, but the oline, yeah they did a few things but Oline are rarely plug-n-play. We'll see if that oline holds. Their RBs are Edwards and Dobbins? Wrs are McConkey and Palmer? Who's their TE again? 28th ranked defense, so Bosa and Mack are cool, but did it work? Unless Harbaugh is suiting up himself, I dont think he's enough to think of the Chargers as anything but 'building'.

    • @brianhenry7983
      @brianhenry7983 Месяц назад +1

      Ever wonder how some teams can go from bad one year and the next year make the playoffs. It's usually because of coaching and different schemes not talent, most teams have enough talent but the coaching is the problem. The chargers also added some key pieces for depth which is what they lacked last year

    • @throwthe9route92
      @throwthe9route92 Месяц назад

      @@brianhenry7983 In football? Nah, it's usually a great draft and a free agent or two that change the script. A coach can help but Harbaugh alone with that defense and those skill players? (Minus Herbert). I'm guessing you are a fan, temper your expectations.

      @@brianhenry7983 It was a solid draft. They needed Alt in the worst way and McConkey is going to be a solid player. They are definitely moving in the right direction. However, 1 rookie tackle isnt going to be enough to fix the last-rated o-line in the NFL. They got a couple of decent defensive players, too. Particularly the LB. Their defense should be improved but again, it's still a work in progress. There is no such coach in the entire world that can fix a team this broken in his first year. People are deifying Harbaugh, and those people (Chargers fans) are in for a very disappointing season if they think this is now a good team because of a coach.

    The thing with the Raiders offence last year was the run game was not suited for the lineman playing on the scheme. Id say all were better suited for a zone blocking scheme vs the power they ran from JMD. Jacobs as well.
    One thing Getsys offense does is bring that back. Parham was also a RG all through college and made the switch in the pros. Hes back on his natural side. Good shout on giving Miller his props tho!

    Raiders have better skill position players, Chargers have the better quarterback. The Raiders defense pushes them up to 2 for me. Chargers have a lot of questions on defense. Broncos lost a lot of their core players and have nothing but questions on LBs, D-Line, QB, RB and WR at the moment, but also have the most interesting squad because of the unknowns. I think the Chiefs offense has the potential to be scary good and their defense will be pretty solid if the front seven is as productive in generating pressures as they were last year. Would kinda love for Chris Jones to get his 20+ sack goal.

    One big key for the Chargers defense: Staley preferred pattern match versus Minter tendency to play pure zone. Whether the players weren't capable of it under Staley or they weren't taught well, I have faith in Minter's approach. Players will be able to make faster, more simple decisions presnap. Derwin was bogged down by pattern match schemes under Staley, for example.

      @3rdandForever868 Месяц назад +4

      PFF is basically football turned into analytics, there’s a site you can check it out, they use more advanced statistics. DVOA is “defense adjusted value over average”, which is basically grading how a team plays by taking into account the defense they’re playing against, it’s usually a percentage. A team with a DVOA of 5% means that they’re 5% better than the average team.

  • @ranger9991
    @ranger9991 Месяц назад

    Thanks for the great analysis, Mina.
    You're right, the loss of Sneed is a big deal. But after watching Spags' defenses since he came to KC I can tell you he's not going to try and shoehorn McD into Sneed's old role. He's going to use various players to play different aspects of what Sneed was doing. Same as Justin Ried; Spags didn't try and have JR replace everything that Tyrann Mathieu was doing before. Jr would've had a hard time doing that, since he's not nearly the coverage guy that Mathieu was.
    Instead, Spags used JR like Mathieu in situations closer to the box and used other players to handle the coverage responsibilities deeper downfield. In short, Spags will rotate players/coverages to handle the loss of Sneed. It won't be a perfect solution, but along with all of his disguises, it'll probably be enough in most games.
    But the loss of Sneed probably means that KC's defense won't be top-3, or even top-5. But tey'll still probably be in the top-10 conversation, which is more than good enough.

    Defense is key for the Chargers and though it may seem like there are lots of holes I would argue that to be false. Staley’s inability to scheme based on player’s strengths made the Defense as a whole look bad and great players look meh. But there are some dang good players on the Defense who are going to succeed in Minter’s scheme. You know, It’s astonishing that the Chargers still had a chance to win nearly every game they lost even though the Defense relinquished, what, 24pts per game on average. In the past 2 years alone, the Chargers lost 13 games where they scored more than 20 points. That’s all about to change. This culture shift and gaming mindset will surprise many analysts and will see the Chargers contend for the West and the AFC championship in Harbaugh’s year 1.

    Mina, I'm a big fan but we need to let go of the Sneed talk. Not only were the Chiefs worry about his chronic knee issues but it wasn't financially possible to re-sign him. Chiefs will be paying Creed Humphrey & Butker in the coming weeks, you can't pay everyone!

      Sneed had to take regular days off every week due to his knee. Also, the Chiefs drafted and groomed him and they have a couple other DBs waiting to get their chance. This year’s pass rush should be better and the very young defense has another year in Spag’s defense.

    Until the Raiders realize they weren't an overpaid WR away from a Super Bowl two years ago, they'll continue to exist in mediocrity. First Randy Moss, then Antonio Brown, and now Davante Adams. How they didn't realize that before the monumentally huge failure trade for Adams is beyond me. Mark Davis needs to sell the team in order for things to change for the better.
