  • A look at the fabulous British Leyland Day 2021 with the help of some of the owners but also Gordon Birtwistle - Triumph's High Speed Development Engineer - who takes a look at the single surviving Triumph SD2 in the museum as he was the man responsible all the chassis ride and handling development work on this fabulous car which was cancelled just prior to production and replaced by the Triumph Acclaim. George Johnson adds a little exclusivity to the assortment of fabulous British Leyland products with his locally produced Aston Martin Vantage of 2018 vintage.
    A great day at the British Motor Museum that has hopefully been captured for everyone to enjoy in this video.

      Thank you for taking the time to say so Brian. We have another BMC/BL day coming up soon so I might just take a camera or two along again. John.

      Thank you Paul. Hopefully it will get a bigger audience as this sort of thing isn't a five minute job but I always enjoy taking a good look at the video I've shot. Couldn't see much in the sunshine and so got a few things wrong but one of the cameras is new and I hadn't used it outside up until this. Next job will be better. John.

    A fantastic video John and a very knowledgeable car guy you are with a very lovely presentation manner
    I have had loads of bl cars from the 50s 60s 70 s in all shapes and sizes it all started for me when my dad had old cars the first one I remember was a fordson van a rover 12 14 and 16 my all time fave was my two land crabs second one was the 2200 really spacious and powerful in the day and unusually reliable

      Nice to know you enjoyed it Malcolm. I did a video of the same show two years ago and that one has proved to be popular over the intervening years so I did this one a little differently just to add some variety. I should be getting to the Pre-1940 Triumph Motor Club national in a few weeks so you can expect to see some of the most beautiful pre-war cars ever built in Britain in that video. I'll probably put a longer version out on disc for that one too. John.

    Love the look of the cars! my favorite car is a 1970 Chevy Nova, its the same car from a film called "death proof" by Quentin Tarantino. Great video! Clark.

      @JohnGClancy  3 года назад

      What???? A Chevy Nova!!! Well, you need to see the beauty of the Triumph series of cars from 1924 until 1984 Clark!!! Then there's all the Rovers and a whole bunch of MGs, Austin-Healeys and Jaguars too. Then again, how about 1 1977 Lotus Esprit as in The Spy Who Loved Me? Let's face it, British is best.... unless you fancy an Italian in the form of a Lamborghini Countach. I've take one of those too please! John.

      @@JohnGClancy I am not at all a car person but I rather enjoyed seeing the cars in this video. I am not a person that knows a lot about cars IN movies but I definitely agree that british is best. Clark.

    Lovely to see all the cars John - you’ve captured them well (incredible turnout and fantastic weather)! Fantastic to see so many cars of the BL and Austin Rover era have survived. Great also to see the discussion with Gordon Birtwhistle next to the prototype Triumph SD2 - such a shame it didn’t make production. Good to see Mike Humble has finally sorted his minor Rover 75 gremlins - a lovely looking car and well worth preserving.

      Thanks George. Your own car is a thing of beauty and I'm really pleased to have been introduced to it [and yourself]. Gordon and I have spoken about the Triumph SD2 often so I knew we had to do a session next to the car. And I did get permission to shoot it so all was above board. I think the Gaydon people were just pleased to have someone there who was responsible for that model. They know very little about it of course.
      John.

    John any news on replacement tr7 front wings

    • @JohnGClancy
      @JohnGClancy  3 года назад

      Not yet Graham. We currently have a joint project with Robsport International to get the currently unavailable door skin reproduced. The other door skin is going to be okay for a few years I think so once the door skin is a goer that will leave the front wings and the sills and that will put us back where we were before the BMH scandal. John.
