Here is a useful tip: IF you are tempted to buy whisky when abroad on holiday, then carefully scrutinise the label! If it says: "Genuine Scottish Whiskey. Distilled at Buckingham Palace under Royal supervision.", then treat it with some suspicion as it may not be completely trustworthy or genuine!!
Hi I would like to engage regarding spotting a fake by observing the beading. Is it not expected that prolonged bubbling/ beading when EBV is above 50% ??? Also why did you not talk about expected evaporation of older bottles AND sedimentation esp. sherry casked older bottles??
I dunno what happens at >50% ABV. But a bottle of 40% Aldi whisky (I have one on my desk) doesn't froth. If the scammers used cheap whisky instead of whatever they used that is not whisky at all then it would be hard to tell the difference.
