Puyo Puyo Mega Drive: Final of Puyo Puyo

- O-cha! This music plays during the final battle with Satan! This song was later used without the intro for the 2 Player mode of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, and it was also remixed for the panic theme!
It's funny how 20 years later, this is still the most intense puyo puyo track.
Jim Cunningham ikr
I think Sonic Mania managed to just top it.
mayborneflower
Specially with the Micheal Jackson WOO every 5 seconds
Tectonic Tetro at War from PPT makes some nice competition, but I still think this one's more intense.

Puyo tetris pc hype!
I had Mean Bean Machine for years before Sonic Mania came out, only I'd never tried 2 player mode up until a few weeks ago. I didn't recognise the tune in Mania, so I assumed it was a new composition. Imagine my surprise when I finally played Vs mode with a friend years later to discover the tune was hidden there all along. And now, I've just finished Puyo Puyo for the first time ever and I am even more stunned to find out it wasn't even from a Sonic game originally. This track rips hard in all three games though.
I just ripped hard on the toilet.
I remember in my childhood that i would sometimes load into 2-player mode JUST to listen to this banger on Mean bean. The years have just flown by.
One of the best boss themes I have ever heard. They didn't have to go this hard on a puzzle game.
Nah fr it could've just been some generic track. This on the hardest difficulty makes me tense.
“They didn’t have to go this hard on a puzzle game.” The exact same thing could be said about 4000 Degrees Kelvin, You Haven’t Escaped, You Know & Still Alive in Portal, Bombs for Throwing at You & Want You Gone in Portal 2 or Flip A Switch in Quantum Conundrum. That goes to show how effective such songs in this genre can be, especially if because it’s a puzzle game you aren’t expecting it.
For real. And it’s STILL a banger.
I feel like this could be a boss theme for some sort of turn based rpg. It’s so good
I can't believe this hasn't been remade recently in modern Puyo Puyo besides Sonic Mania.
Satan's theme in 15th anniversary is actually a remixed version of this theme though.
EDIT: I should also mention that both his theme in 20th anniversary and his song on the Puyo Puyo Vocal tracks CD is loosely based of Final of Puyo Puyo.
Should I mention that this song you are listening to was remixed as the 2 player theme in Dr robotniks mean bean machine which is probably why it got into sonic mania
@@netako the 20th anniversary was 10 years ago lol
@@melo-7904 Pretty much common knowledge.

What makes it is that even Sonic is like, "Am I in the right game?"
After listening to Unbeatable, I guess that means Bowser's a Puyo Puyo fan.

I mean, Eggman’s about as goofy as our good friend, the Dark Prince...
Memelord Mccmidget Everyone knows.
This music is so intense makes my heart beat fast listening to it.
30 years later... still a banger final boss theme.
This song has no excuse being in a puzzle game.
all versions of this track is legendary, I wonder if it was because this game was on mega drive, never played a game in this console that does not have at least one epic track
I was so surprised to find a god dang puyo puyo boss in Sonic Mania! What the hell?! Honestly I wish it lasted longer.
And there's a Puyo Puyo mode! I can die happily.

Anybody else think this is better than the Mean Bean Machine Version?
I prefer the MBM version myself but this is higher quality
depends
I like Puyo Puyo for competition
I like MBM for N o s t a l g I a.
NO
Yes. Haven't played Mean Bean Machine yet but I'm sure it's version is still OK at least.
Mean Bean Machine has better drums though
This song rocks, I first heard it in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Every version of it seems to be equally headbanging.
Who's here after that remix in sonic mania?
yup
Me.
Lol that's actually a remix of a remix.
Brick Dad aHA
here
oh, so that's why the multiplayer music in mean bean went so hard, like a boss fight. That's because it is a boss theme
Man, for a second, I thought I was listening to E1M1 Doom theme music. I got excitedly ready to kill some demons.
I mean, this IS the theme of Satan.
If you need a song to get you in the zone, this is the one.
This song makes me feel like I should *continue* .
So this is the great original. From this to mean bean 2 vs. and now to sonic mania. This track is insane.
This theme has been remixed at least 3 times to my Knowledge. Kirby's Avalance, Dr. Robotnik's Mean bean machine, and finally the boss theme in Sonic Mania.
This isn't in Avalanche
For Remixes there is also the one in 15th anniversary, Puyo DX and pretty much every port this game has.
I wish this was in Avalanche lol.
One of my favorite gaming music genres are songs that go unexpectedly hard and this song is a perfect example!
surely this wouldnt go on some song called unbeatable

if we make a drinking game out of how many versions of puyo puyo exist
than we will all die out of alchohol poisoning
How many are clones of the first one, specifically. Well, the first arcade one. Though even counting how many games Compile put out, especially if we’re counting the dungeon crawlers that came before, as well as all the spin-offs, including one where Arle goes on a Pokémon-like adventure...
Yeah theres so many puyo puyo clones it makes me wonder why mean bean machine didn't get hated on lol

By far the best song in the game.

Never knew I was fighting Satan himself in the chemical plant.

God i love the 3d effect on the beginning
A shame this game never came to the states until the 90’s when Sega released Mean Bean Machine and later in 2019 when the Nintendo switch made its day view.
Honestly, hearing the Sonic Mania version of this song was the first time I heard the song. I heard the original version of the song when I watched a gameplay of the English arcade version of Puyo Puyo, but apparently I forgot that I heard the song, I was liking the sound effects that played on that stage too much.
Apparently (like a lot of sound effects in the game) they come from M.U.S.H.A Aleste.
@@davidvaldez1093 After playing that game, I heard those sounds, even that iconic "thump" sound came from that game... and was used in every Puyo game since...
Y'know, I know the Puyo connection for a while, but I didn't actually expect that music track to actually be from a Puyo game too.
The arrangement used for 2-Player Mode in Mean Bean Machine is a heavy metal Sega Genesis remix of this song.
Sonic mania and Mario Madness V2 references
Interesting... I played Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine as a kiddo... never knew before it contained Recycled Music. :)
Also never heard of Puyo Puyo... wonder if it was an interesting game...?
Joshua Gano Same gameplay, so yeah if you liked Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine then you liked Puyo Puyo.
VERY interesting
Mean Bean WAS Puyo Puyo. Probably wouldn't have made enough sales with the original theme in the 90's.
Music wasn't the only thing recycled, mostly the whole game is puyo puyo:AOSTH edition
I wish the rest of the games in the series had music as intense as this.
I think the problem in the modern games is the instruments they use
@@davidvaldez1093 While you're right at the same time I disagree because I think the problem is that modern games nowadays sound too generic
Mean Bean Machine version has more intense DAC percussion.

@yoyobass100 I have listened to it way before I knew it was Puyo Puyo with AoSth slapped on it. MBM borrowed a lot of music from Puyo Puyo but sound slightly different in beats and/or tone.
So this song is in Sonic Mania as a reference to the reskinned “Crazy Egg” version of this game that was made so Puyo Puyo could appeal to American audiences. Huh.
