With all due respect to your recreation (because it's unbelievably fucking good), I think it speaks volumes as to how so far ahead of its time the original opening was considering that even a fan remake that's of such a high quality as this STILL doesn't look one to one identical. I can never figure out what it is in these fan recreations that is different because from my (admittedly amateur) perspective, I honestly don't know what you could do to improve it, and yet there's just *something* off about it. Regardless, unbelievable job my guy 👌
I wonder how they did the TARDIS animation in the BBC title sequence. The movement is really smooth and realistic, making it look like a mo-capped object at times. They must just have really good animators.

Not to mention... you really nailed the logo~ Even if the BBC never gets a chance to hire you, like so many other brilliant graphic designers on RUclips, I hope you get the chance to work on some major TV show or movie -- if that's what you want, of course! The Tardis movement seems like it missed an ease keyframe at the very end as well. Put I only point those things out because everything else is just so _good._ The camera shake at the end especially. It might bring it even closer to the original if that happened more throughout like the original, as well as more twists and turns in the vortex itself. Really do love it though
It could, but I don't have £150 to hash out for a decent motion blur plugin. Plus the default one in After Effects is a bit naff. 😕 But thanks anyways. ☺️
Has anyone tried merging all the titles together? So like the tardis animation with the matt smith lightning and capaldi clocks and whittaker vortex? lol
@@adamwalkervfx Interesting; I genuinly wonder what software the BBC used to make the original titles. The subtleties in the way yours and the BBC's vortices behave makes me think it was done similar to yours. Would be an interesting challenge try with the software that would have been available at the time. By far the best remake I've seen and I'd say it's better than mine (I used 3DS Max). So many things look good: the vortex texture is almost spot on, though I feel it could have benefitted from the lighter 'clouds' further down the vortex and FoV of the vortex is slightly higher than the BBC titles. The font for the names is spot on and the reflections also. The logo is near identical too, but the rear not having the same reflection as the BBC titles. It's so good; how long did it take you?
Wow! This is a fantastic remake, I can see you have made alot of awesome improvements 2005 ones you did a couple months back. Particularly to the vortex. The RTD titles are probably the most difficult to recreate. My only major criticism is the tardis movements towards the end, and the way the logo appears which seem less fluid compared to the orginal 😋 On a sidenote, Would love to see you give Matt Smith's series 7B titles a go, considering those weren't great it would fun to see what improvements you make to them =)
Going by the rumour mill, the 60th anniversary episodes will use an updated Tom Baker style intro. There was a leaked image of a 3D mock up of the diamond logo.
idk if i've commented before on this, but make sure to make the vortex a bit slower, add a bit of motion blur, also the the vortex looks a little stretched out, try to make it more equal and add a kind of flare to the back of the vortex, where the light comes from too
@@adamwalkervfx look at the 10th doctors vortex, look at the furthest point, these is a whitish light flare, it is very subtle, but if it's not added in, the vortex is just a black void

There was no flare in the vortex in the original. Plus adding it would be a major distraction for the viewers.
