What a fantastic concert, skips and all! What a powerful tribute to their teacher to see so many alumni of the choir return to pay respect to their conductor the late Dr. Nathan Carter. Truly a special time. Wish I could have been in the audience. BRAVO TO ALL THE PERFORMERS!
I never forgot seeing this by chance in 1997. Have been looking for this bone-chilling rendition of It is Well With My Soul. And Ernest Sauders solo, "Great is Thy Faithfulness." THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading this. Seeing this again was on my bucket list.
Even though Dr. Eric Conway is the new minister of music at Morgan state university music department, Dr. Nathan Carter is still directing the choir, even in heaven
Always stunning 💗💗💗!! MPT (MARYLAND PUBLIC TELEVISION) continues to showcase Morgan's Concert from 1996 as a fundraiser. They offer the entire concert on various media types... available for purchase.
Thank you, Dr. Conway! I looked for a copy of this concert for years. What a blessing it was to sing with the choir under the amazing direction of Dr. Carter, accompanied by your stellar piano performance.
How do you get to find and gather so many top quality talented black people .Do you advertise?Or does God does this? I am trying to wrap my head around this❤🙏🏻
This is a reunion of former and present choir members under the direction of Dr. Carter used as a fundraiser and they performed well; made me contribute and I didn't have the money!! :)
How amazing to see so many gifted black (and White) musicians in one place, giving such a high level of excellence. Never have I seen such a glorious thing. I wish I could be a part of the moment.
A ha! I've been looking for this video everywhere! Ernest Saunders can be seen in other videos singing Great is Thy Faithfulness but the camera angles and video production on this event are far superior. Thank you. Yes, the skips are a bit distracting but don't take away from the beauty of the voices.
Same here. I have the DVD. Had to leave it in storage in MS for what was supposed to be temp relo in 2018. Now 2020. Stuff still there. So now I’ll get to record and save where I am here. Thanks
Excellent job on Beethoven's 9th, but why on earth are there 2 different gentlemen singing the bass solo, and why do they each look so angry while singing a composition about joy?
LOL...I was in this choir so I have a good idea why (remember this is a college choir not professional) 1st and 2nd bass*(he sang it alone in Bonn Germany with us) could sing the entire solo alone but both were members of the choir who just shared the section. Now the angry face part could be because of our director pullin the air out of our lungs as we sing can cause the facial expressions LOL...perhaps.
Perfect for Black History Month. A Black Choir performing the work of a Black Composer. And if you don't know, now you know!

He was our minister of music at our church, and our music teacher and headmaster of his own school of music in Baltimore
Omgoodness To God be the Glory what messages! GoodWord
This was a moment in Morgan State history that can never, ever be recaptured.
Absolutely magnificent. Cnot

Morgan State is a pubic university, not a church with a minster.
I know but still he's doing awesome with the music department. Dr.Carter left it in great hands with Dr Conway
