It really hits me everytime when Drummer says "There's no place for me in the universe". We have never seen Drummer so broken before. I am amazed how much character development they were able to pull off in 6 episodes especially with Rosenfeld.

something you said about holden ... took me into kind of a wormhole, lol. when i came out of it, two things seemed important to me: 1. holden is the captain of the ship. he has to make difficult decisions and can't be asked to explain himself to the crew. he's the boss. he does the right thing, sometimes to his own detriment, because that's who he is -- and in challenging times, he can't be asked to explain himself, even to amos, even to naomi. he expects them to trust him, and if they don't, then ... they aren't his crew. 2. a lot of people who've watched the show and post about it slag holden. from the get-go, he's been called annoying, a simp, and useless. i don't think that the people, who fist-pump when the rocinante pulls off an unexpected and pretty amazing win, realize that the person who comes up with those plans is holden. for instance, when the rocinante stopped to pick up bobby and avasarala, they needed to devise a way to stymie the ship that was trying to kill them -- that was holden. he's the one who strategizes. he's the one who thought, "what if we blind that ship with nukes and then slip into that blaze of light, kill the engine of the ship, and then make the rescue?" he'll put it to his crew, listen to their ideas, incorporate those which make sense, and then run the whole, completed plan by the crew, just to make sure everyone's on board with it and understands their role in it. not saying that you don't get that, lol. it's just i think of these things and have no one to talk to about it, so ... here.
tl;dr: holden's the captain and the quarterback, and i love him. lol.

Thank you! Holden is an incredible character and I love him, to. (I'm actually hard-pressed to pick just one fave character in this show. They are ALL so wonderful!) Some people don't appreciate those that are just "good people".

@@anouar3194 as much as i love almost every other character, i think so, too.
He went from, "I don't want the responsibility" to taking responsibility sometimes to the extreme. Great character growth, not perfect but realistic.
Drummer really is one the best characters on this show and this episode exemplified why.
The scene with Drummer and Naomi, amid all the epic fights and crazy alien antics, is probably the best one in the entire series.
I don't think when Noami initially reached out that she was there on behalf of Holden and Avaserala because she sent it before they even talked, but I think it eventually became more "mandatory" in a sense that she saw her because it became about more than just their friendship. Also, I love the Noami/Drummer friendship, you really got to see its ups and downs over the years. I think a lot of shows that aren't necessarily centered around friendships don't always do a great job of showcasing real friendships (outside of work relationships) and I think THE EXPANSE did that really well. The same can be said about the Alex/Bobby friendship and the Peaches/Amos friendship.

The characters in this show are so well developed, and brilliantly acted. Going to miss murder snuggles the most, but all the female leads are just kick ass - Avasarala, Drummer, Draper and Naomi. In which other shows do you get such strong female leads?
Josh Whedon shows. But that's a whole different can of worms that I ain't touching.

Re: Filip's speech. That wasn't him doubling down on the Inaros Legacy. That was him doubling down on desperation, his back already creaking with the weight of guilt over questionable deeds done in the name of The Great And Powerful Inaros, who gives a flying rip about no one but himself. Filip's thought is, they have to win or none of it means a damn thing. But inwardly, he's already started to realize none of it means a damn thing no matter what.
also his aching expression when he is out of the room walking down the hallway almost wondering what the hell he is doing.
That eyebrow during the end of that scene was doing so much work, it was amazing.

I think Cara Gee [Drummer] is the best actor on this show.. and I love most of them, so that is extremely high praise.

It's interesting how many modern tv shows feature oppressed groups: the Belters in The Expanse, the wildlings/freefolk in Game of Thrones, the inhabitants of the Inland in 3%, the taillies in Snowpiercer, the Origines in Tribes of Europa, the Germanic villagers in Barbarians and the Fey in Cursed.

Try to remember that this show is many things but in the end it's about humanity and our tribalism! Remember the opening crawl! Earth, Mars and the Belt are on the brink of war and all it will take is a single spark! That's what this story is all about!

Please note that this season will be the show's last _for the time being._ It was Bezos who brought in The Expanse from SyFy and gave it a guaranteed 3-season extension. With Bezos handing over the company's leadership to Jassy, a guaranteed renewal wasn't really something the higher-ups at Amazon had in mind.
But Ty and Dan (and maybe Naren) always planned to finish the series in full, but not in the traditional sense that we'd have yearly Expanse seasons. The issue has been discussed numerous times in a lot of interviews, so at least we *know* that they're not ending the series at S06E06. Right now the show's _in hiatus,_ which sort of follows the significant time jump the crew of the Roci would have between Books 6 and 7.
We _will_ eventually have a continuation (and proper conclusion) to the series, but we won't know when it will come out. Amazon might renew it eventually, or maybe some other production company would pick it up instead.
To those who are befuddled as to why Season 6 had these weird prologues down in Laconia that seem to have no bearing on the events involving the Roci... well, I _could_ tell you why they're important. Wouldn't want to spoil it though.
And yes, I've finished all of the books. In my humble opinion, the final three novels surpass *all* of the first six in all aspects. Especially awesomeness. They *absolutely* need to be told on-screen.
I don't disagree with pretty much everything you said. But I will say this, for tv production adaptation of the first six novels.... they did a pretty damn good job!! Yes I know there is more but the conclusion of the story thus far was awesome! I feel like they stuck the landing! And as always they left us wanting more!
For good or bad, the last episode of the series is the final chapters of Book 6 Babylon's Ashes. It is not narratively possible to do anything unless there is a new series. Next is a short story called "Strange Dogs" which takes place entirely on the Martian colony Laconia and has none of the main characters. After that is Book 7 Persepolis Rising which takes place 28 years (!) after Book 6.

@@alcor7104 Thanx for the correction! But I am not otherwise wrong, am I? Abraham and Franck would have to rewrite portions Books 7-9 to de-age the universe and characters to some extent. Or make new stuff that does not impact the major events of 7-9. Or just wait to proceed to Persepolis Rising.
@@michaelgonzalez6295 Without giving away spoilers, there really isn't a huge difference between the two eras/periods. Sure, everyone's aged somewhat, but lighting, makeup, and maybe an extra burger each day could fix that. Not a lot of differences with in-world tech as well, which means they'll mostly be reusing old sets, with maybe a bit of scuffing or minor paint jobs.
Any marked changes on Earth, Medina, and other places could easily be taken care of by CGI.
The only _major_ difference would be, well, the stuff I can't divulge and spoil.

Nikki, my cat, Basia, makes sounds just like that when she sleeps or is resting. I used to worry about it, but now I know another kitty out there that does it. :-) ... I don't think it would be good for Filip to kill his father. I agree with another commenter that it would just be more problems for him to deal with later (assuming he's not dead at the end of the series). One thing we have to remember, is that Filip is really young. I think he's supposed to be only about 16/17 years old. He's not really old enough to have his own true thoughts and beliefs, yet, especially with a father like Marco. He's been indoctrinated and abused his whole life. He IS starting to understand some things, though, and hopefully will be able to come to a conclusion before the end of Ep 6. I also don't think he truly believed what he was saying in that speech he gave in the gally, He had a very desperate look in his eyes as he spoke, and when he was walking away from the gally, he looked very conflicted. When Marco watched the playback of the speech, was he proud? I don't think so. There was not an ounce of pride on his face as he watched.
Yall have got to check out The Last Kingdom. It's so damn good. It's #1 on Netflix rigght now. It's got 5 seasons, and 36 episodes. I would be so hyped
I've only watched the show and not read the books but I have read the Hyperion Cantos Books and the protomolecule in this last season and how it's used by the "dogs", gives me some Cruciform parasite vibes. Like they can bring you back from the dead over and over again but what are you losing or being used for?

To be fair to Holden, he is probably frustrated with himself and it is probably because he understand that Amos doesn't interpret feeling the same way that other people do is probably make it even more so for him. It's not right for him to handle it the way he did but it is understandable.

The moment when Holden suggests they open up to Inaros to let him know about the unknown enemies from the gates, sounds like Jon Snow asking Cersei to join him against the White Walkers. It's such an idealistic thought, but he neeeded Avasarala to tell him it wasn't gonna work. I wish someone had told Jon too, beecause that was so wrong in Game of Thrones.

You have to realize that the authors of the series and the show-runners are pretty much hard science atheist types, who see "life" as a bunch of chemical interactions and "mind" as the brain running some kind of software. Whether or not I agree with them, they do follow that mindset to its conclusions.
Did you personally hear them say that that's how they see life or are you simply assuming such given their atheist position?

If you're looking for a replacement series that isn't too time consuming, there's a light-hearted adventure series that lasted one season on ABC in 2008, called The Middleman, about a super-secret hero organization masquerading as a small temp agency, and the young woman who signs on with them as an apprentice. The humor is very tongue-in-cheek, which is a large part of why it got cancelled. Network suits don't understand the concept of humor. The series is available on DVD and streaming services, and I think the both of you would get a charge out of it.
