  • With Apple Vision Pro now available for pre-order, there's a lot of new information going around! Today I want to cut through the narrative and show you why I'm taking a chance on Vision Pro, why I bought 1tb Vision Pro, and why I think Apple's vision of the future is more likely to succeed than other futuristic devices like the Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1

    • @jackdominiak445
      @jackdominiak445 5 месяцев назад +1

      A developer would be stupid to develop anything for less than 5 million users.
      There's the problem, not that developers are miffed with Apple.
      Luke is right, it's a product for people that want to do what they do now, in a different way, but that is a niche market and the P3 issue might be a huge problem for content creators, which is the biggest market for this product at the moment, the mirroring at 720p is also a huge issue.
      I suspect a lot of these 1st gen VP's will be going back within 14 days and Apple will only have themselves to blame for launching a half cooked product 😏

      @@jackdominiak445 As VR user I would say that VR\AR always loosing comparing to good monitor. Even if you have perfect screen in VR, it is still heavy and uncomfortable with very small benefits. It is cool novelty, but wears off fast. So if this is a use case then people will be disappointed.

      As someone said on another channel, this particular device isn't for mass adoption, it's basically an expensive developer model to get developers to start writing apps specifically for this format.

      @@xsleep1 Probably true. I guess I'm more responding to the idea that people need to be convinced of its usefulness. Anyone with a current vr headset knows how awesome it would be to web-browse and watch movies with 4k lenses and eyetracking. But even if you're totally ready to abandon your laptop for this thing, it's double the price it needs to be.

      I see the potential of AR/VR - but I don't see what the apple device will do way better than a quest 3 for 500 bucks. Yeah, resolution. Well. Is this worth 3 grand extra? And at the end of the year the "consumer" AR/VR devices will be ahead again in resolution. (and I say this as an Apple Fanboy with a lot of Apple devices at home)

      @@clark2109The main difference is a VR headset requires you to connect to a computer. Vision Pro is the Computer. Which is why it basically has everything an iPad Pro has and more. A person can buy three or five monitors and figure out how to wire and display them, or they can use the Vision Pro and have a much more streamlined experience. I personally thought about a monitor setup with a large ultrawide display and a couple of smaller 32” or 27” monitors. So instead I decided on the Vision Pro instead. No longer have to fret about rearranging my desk. Besides the possibilities will be exciting to explore and discover…

    Hot take: The OG iPhone only sucks if you compare it to where phones are today. All the short comings you mentioned are valid but what the iPhone did better than anything else on the market was ease of use. No stylus, fluid scrolling, big easy to select buttons and intuitive gestures. 🤔 you could also use all of that to describe the Vision Pro for those that have used it. It feels magical. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but it’s not all you have to do is look at what you want and tap your fingers together. So if AR/VR is going to be a product category for the foreseeable future, Apple Vision Pro is the product that’s going to make it accessible to everyone not just hardcore people. As far as the price goes, there are three factors one everything at Apple is expensive, to there are zero compromises when compared to other headsets, that’s going to cost more, and finally this is just an opinion but you’re basically getting a MacBook Air M2 and as many pro display XDR as you want for 3500 bucks sounds like a deal to me.

    I honestly think the most exiting thing about the Vision Pro will be seeing you review it . Small ears , not to tall and enthusiastic about many things Apple . For me as a tall chap with large ears this particular item is just another way I can bang my head on low lying structures , scrunch my ears up for far greater wrinkles than an air pod pro or the likes and pretend that vision is a superior sense than sound . Having said all this if it wasn’t for such tech I probably wouldn’t now be sitting on the greatest collection of music play list compilations , specifically tailored to my own tastes and bye my own hand along with many new musical appreciation techniques , only possible in the Apple echo system .

    Great video. I must admit I find it difficult sometimes to understand some tech journalists. You spent almost $4k on a device but used 7 out of 12 minutes discussing your reservations and anxieties about the device. Every possible or potential negative that could exist was covered. I’ve been a consumer of various goods over the years of “top selling” products and only Apple devices have reviewers reading scripts that feel like “terms of service agreements” within “CYA” videos. No other company, not with Tesla cars or Sony cameras, Dyson vacuums or DJI mics can leave reviewers acting like liability lawyers nervously babbling about real or imagined potential downsides like Apple.

    Hi Luke, regarding the display. The reason the display quality is different than those of a Mac is because Apple has to settle for whatever displays at the size the Vision Pro can use. The Vision pro other than ram, cpu, storage , other components are not from MAC computers

  • @denesk2794
    @denesk2794 5 месяцев назад +3

    I wouldn't have problem dropping $3,500 on it if I had a use case for it. But I really don't.
    I also wear a helmet 2-3 hours per day for 5 days+ a week. A heavy and hot full face helmet in tropical weather and I am OK with it.
    But half an hour in a VR headset in an air conditioned room, and I feel like I want to die. I also had a Sony HMZ-T1, which is much smaller than a VR headset. Absolutely miserable experience for me as well.
    A use case would be if it was a REALLY GOOD, light VR headset that worked on PC and PS5, with a wide peripheral vision with no unfocused spots on the side. Even though I use a Mac (Studio, M2, Macbook Air, iPad pro), there are no games or apps I would use, and 100% sure it won't work on PS5, and 99% sure it won't work on PC, so for me it's completely useless.
    If it was an AR device, and it would be the size of the Google Glass *thing*, then I would take it with a monochrome display if it was able to put useful information on my vision ...... how about speed, or people's names (I never remember), or directions to a location .... no missed call notifications please :) or every spam I get from my own service provider daily ....
    Just my 2c .... again ... cool, nice, I have ZERO use case for it.... maybe movies, but lately I barely get interested in a movie as much as sit down in front of a big screen... I just end up watching mostly everything on my iPad (12.9) with headphones... or my desktop 32'' ProART displays.... (though the HDR is horrid crap on them)

    I’m sorry Luke, but I fundamentally disagree. The first iPhone did not “suck,” it was revolutionary in how we reimagined how a smartphone should operate. It replaced other phones with clunky buttons, terrible software and UI, and gave us a touchscreen that did not require a stylus to use. Even the iPad replaced those terrible netbooks that were extremely popular during the time.
    The Vision Pro does not solve any issues people have with computing. A majority of people are just fine with carrying around a small and thin laptop with them everywhere. The only application I can see is gaming and entertainment. However, the 3D fad comes and goes every 10 years or so, this just seems like the next phase in that. Even then, there’s absolutely no way that having a screen attached to your face all day is the future of computing.
    The Vision Pro needs to be an accessory that compliments your computer, not a replacement for it.

    "The iPhone when it came out, sucked." - Disagree. I was there, it was mind-blowing - futuristic even. In hindsight - sure, I agree 100%. VP is a different beast entirely. Nothing screams innovation rather than iteration. AVP is an iterative product, it's not innovative in the way the OG iPhone was. That's not a bad thing, per-say. But IT IS different. The AVP is better compared to the Apple Watch. It lacked features, it was iterative - in that it was a big step (not a leap) above the competition. With luck, AVP will be the same. To me, this is the difference between Steve's and Tim's approach. Steve would have swapped in a M3 Pro (imo) and gone for the wow factor. Steve launched the iPhone with as much tech as possible (up to the last minute), Tim takes the longer (safer) path. Both likely end the same, but the "magic" isn't there to the degree it would have been with Steve. Don't compare this to the iPhone, for that reason alone. Compare it to the Watch.

    I just don't understand how anyone can just drop $4000 on this with the lack of app support and without even seeing reviews first. It may well be the best product Apple released since the iphone, but even if it is I wouldn't bet $4000 on it before it even comes out. Even if I wanted this, I'd be waiting for gen 2 or 3 first. At least the first iphone was, at its core, a phone, that could be used as a phone, even if it was overpriced for that basic functionality. If you don't like the primary function of the vision pro, what's the fallback option? I don't see anything viable there.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see what the technology can do. I'm just very disappointed that we have so many questions that need answering even after preorders have opened up. If I was Apple and I had what I thought would be a hit product I'd want that in the hands of influencers, marketers, anyone that could get more eyeballs on it to show off the cool features. It seems to me this device may have had a troubled development though, if they're so unwilling to provide more information that they wait until after preorders open up to even say a little bit about what to expect.

    I don’t see Vision Pro being a viable consumer product in its current state. Consumers will want the kind of experience it offers in large pair of glasses (How’s that “light cancellation” technology coming Apple?), not a heavy, uncomfortable headset. I can see the application of Vision Pro being useful for AR for the medical and design industries, but for short periods of time. This is a case of where Gen 1 really is the worst time to get onboard.

    • @garydiamondguitarist

      Genuinely think it won't get mass adopted. Look at pre-existing VR products at more reasonable price points, they're not exactly flying off the shelves. Unless you hang around with a specific crowd, you're not seeing them everywhere. They're no more than a novelty, a stepping stone to holograms perhaps. Just because the tech world wills it so, and it's a time where existing products like TVs and phones are in something of a stagnant low innovation period, does not guarantee the success of a product that, simply put, has to be strapped to your head. It fails first and foremost on form factor.
