The Last Mission was somewhat of an ok addition, but the Will part was kinda stupid to be honest. Sin randomly coming back, the melodrama, the "Auron's daughter" characters hits bad fanfiction level of writing for me.
I disagree, as a girl i totally get and love everything the girl friends go through and the struggles each of them face 🥰 I really want to play this now. This is what all girls go through, so Will is a perfect ending for the FFX-X2 games! Eeeek!

she only said that because if she had to call the final aeon in order to defeat this new sin, she would have to sacrifice tidus once more and make him a fayth in order to get the final aeon. although we don’t know if summoning aeons would even be the case in order to defeat it this time. but basically, she didn’t want to lose him again.
Well, there's also another layer to it as well. Powerful Summoners have the ability to do something called "Beckoning" which is essentially summoning whatever they imagine and bring it forth into the world using pyreflies. In the FFX novel, Yuna discovers she has this ability when Tidus accidentally is killed by kicking a bomb disguised as a blitzball. In her shock, she brings him back into existence by beckoning him back with her new summoner ability. The caveat and stipulation to beckoning a person into existence is that they have to remain ignorant to the fact that they are beckoned. If someone who is beckoned realizes that they aren't truly alive, the beckoning undoes itself and they fade back out of existence. Because of this, Yuna has purposefully tried detaching herself emotionally from Tidus in order to maintain the secret of his beckoning so he can continue to exist.
I thought this was a year or more ago upload Also this game is basically the embodimeny of "the real treasure is the friend we made along the way" And revisiting it (2024 May) Will is a complete joke, it will never be canon and higher than the equivalent of "Wattpad's badly written unfinished fanfic made by a child". I mean, Sin returning for whatever reason after the roach god's long gone? Tidus & explosive blitzball? Zombie Tidus? Auron's daughter?? It's like how they add Paine to X-2 as a new addition but without backstory or context or much needed explanation.
I think he was either trying to help her by being the sacrifice incase the final summon is needed, or was admiring her for what she was willing to risk for the man she loves.
Have you thought about doing recapitations for Final Fantasy XI and XIV. There both large so you might need to split them up by expansions, but then you'd have all the final fantasy games
I support this idea. While I don't know anything about XI, I do play XIV, and admit that I do so mostly for the plot and partially the lore. Where to start? Here a very short sum up to let you see what to expect. FFXIV 1.0's events are a bit of a mystery to me, but its most important events seem to be that the heroes of that time united the 3 ruling powers of Eorzea (think of it as a large nation rather than the whole world) to fight against the invading imperium of Garlemand, and then Bahamut was summoned, which brought a calamity (ending the game's service for a while) FFXIV A realm reborn (or ARR for short) is the part of the story we currently join in. Start as a newbie, save people, and fight Garlemand's super weapon. Also learn about a group of individuals that serve as the bigger behind the scenes antagonist throughout the entire story so far, the Ascians. FFXIV Heavensward (HW) ends a war between Ishgard and Dragons. Surprisingly, not by simply killing all the dragons or just their leader, but by uncovering the truth of how the war even started, and educate the public about the mistakes of the past. Granted, you do kill 2 leading figures, but still. FFXIV Stormblood (SB) deals with 2 conflicts at the same time. One in the far east, one in the near east, which both are about rebellion. FFXIV Shadowbringer (ShB). Tired of saving your world over and over? Go save another. Also sheds some much needed light on the Ascians. And this is just the main story. Alliance Raids have a tidbit of their own story while the main story plays out. So in short: Euan is right. This is a big one, probably best for a series of videos rather than a single one. But this is exactly why it might be needed. Even I can't remember all the details by now simply because of how much has happened, so if there is something good to recap, it's at least FFXIV.

the story should be left at the “bad ending” of ffx-2 it makes the most sense where tidus never comes back and yuna just has to move on. anything beyond feels like square enix milking the franchise especially with them magically bringing sin back
All of us right now are very lucky to have the International + Last Mission version of this released globally, back then we had to import the FFX-2: ILM and when playing Last Mission with all japanese text was a bit annoying. With that the only thing that bugged me with the "HD remaster" is that they butchered Yuna's face especially in FFX-2 where her High-res PS2 model looked cute, realistic(for the time when it was released) and a hundred times better than whatever the hell they did to it in the remastered versions lol hoping a mod gets made or an official patch.

There was a book published in Japan that gives lots of context. To sum up your question... Major spoiler That's not the real tidus. It's a image conjured by Yuna's immense power after the fayth-revived tidus (the one at the end of FF X-2) dies. If this images becomes self aware (that it is fake) it is perminantly is erased from existence. So Yuna is trying to distance herself to keep him alive.

During this time, they get shipwrecked on an island that's a lot of Beside (I think it's in the past actually) and there's a lore drop about how things used to be in the war. One such "thing" are blitzball-like mines. Tidus finds one and mistakes it as a ball. When he comes into contact with it, he gets blown up.

That's part of a light novel that, as far as I'm aware, is Japan exclusive. It wasn't included with the HD remaster. Timeline wise though, it's about: X-2 > (Last Mission) > Blitzball of Death > (Last Mission) > Will I'm just not sure if it's *before* or *after* LM, hence why I put it twice in parentheses. 😅
First half: EXTREMELY important story bit for me. This arrived right before high school graduation. I was anxious that the family I found in my elementary school friends would be broken apart as we'd be going to separate colleges. This story came at THE right time for me. This reassured me that we won't be exactly the same as before, but we'll still have each other in some way, and we'll still have our memories. Now as young adults, we still keep in touch and support each other. Second half: Oh... what a cool fanfic XD Not happy it ended so... inconclusive like that... My headcanon will not be including this...

This story really should have stopped at X. I am not happy with any of the endings in X2 even though the sad one is the most logical it honestly should have stopped at X. It's just really weird to see the history of spira continue in this very weird and continues fashion. I would enjoy seeing their lives after X but not in the way X2 did it
With the recent confirmation that Nomura, Toriyama, Nojima, and Kitase are building X-3 after 7R finishes and its going to follow after the events of Will its gonna be interesting to see where it's gonna go.
I finished this on ps2 cuz i didnt have the luxury of wasting money...it was an awful game and i didnt replay it on the remaster. Combat was good but it went full weeb on the characters and story.

FFX-2 was a mistake.
I finished this on ps2 cuz i didnt have the luxury of wasting money...it was an awful game and i didnt replay it on the remaster. Combat was good but it went full weeb on the characters and story.
