No brandy old fashion? *Gasps in Wisconsinite* Speaking of Wisconsin, if you find yourself in Door County Wisconsin, stop by Nelsen's Hall on Washington Island. I was introduced to old fashioneds in a Wisconsin supper club and the brandy variety will always be my favorite. They muddle granulated sugar with Angostura bitters and orange before adding the spirit and ice and I love the way the sugar doesn't completely dissolve, so you get the tiny crunch of sugar at the end. That, and brandy is one of the few distilled spirits I like.

I love learning new Old Fashioned recipes! I know we're just past pumpkin season, but a Brandy, Pumpkin and Angostura Old Fashioned is surprisingly addictive!
This was great! The old fashioned is my all time favorite cocktail method. There’s a gin made down here in the Austin area that’s aged in whiskey barrels. It is a really fascinating, complex liquor. I had trouble figuring out what to do with it, but I recently found it works GREAT as a bourbon replacement in cocktails. Gave it a shot with the old fashioned. WOW. highly recommend.

I was wondering where I'd first seen the Angostura float. It's become a common sight on many of my colourless old fashioneds. It does make for a pretty sight.
I've got an old fashioned recipe I'm working on called "vecchio stile" (old fashioned in Italian). Mix a barspoon of granulated sugar and 1oz of Campari in your glass. Add your ice cube and two ounces of not expensive Scotch (I use Johnny Walker black). Stir to desired dilution. Finish with a citrus twist (I use orange but I bet grapefruit would go well too). Maybe trot it out for special occasion vids
@@stevencooper3202 Oh, I second that as a good compromise!
@@howtodrink Maybe play it as your outtro? "I'm Greg and this has been How to Drink. Remember, it's not about precision and technique, because, if the drink you like is in the glass, you did it right."
You sir are a delight. This has helped my Saturday workday go by that much faster.
My rum old fashioned is
2 barspoons of sugar, a splash of luxardo, 2 dash of Angostura and 4dash of Reagan orange no.5, stir, add ice and 2oz. Of diplomatica Reserva garnish with 2 cherries
"Makes me think of being anywhere other, then NJ!" 😂😂😂😂😂, I graduate for Freehold borough 😧and now, I ive in Amsterdam! Thanks for the help with making amazing cocktails!
applejack (brandy) old fashioned! perfect for autumn.
The Queen Mary in Chicago makes an old fashioned with Smith & Cross and Plymouth Navy Strength Gin. It's as strong as it is delicious.
Love this drink (pisco] but the chocolate notes got me thinking
Try using a 1/2oz of cream de cacao in place of sugar syrup, and coffee bitters (I made my own since I couldn't find any and put them in an old angostura bottle] in place of angostura..
Heaven as well. I really love this "mocha old fashioned " formula. Great with rum as well
I certainly love a good old fashion, but mate I cannot stop staring at that Rolliflex you got in the back. That camera is sweet!
your rum old fashioned sounds great, like a stirred daiquiri. gotta try that.
I was wondering where I'd first seen the Angostura float. It's become a common sight on many of my colourless old fashioneds. It does make for a pretty sight.
In the most delightful way 🎶 As always, the real hero is Greg’s designated driver.
Rum old fashioned is great! A bit sweeter than the old fashioned old fashioned , but very good!
I'm so glad _Sober for October_ is over and done with 🤙🏻
Quitter (j/k)
You gotta try the Trinidad sour, uses angostura bitters as the main component and kinda turns your idea of what bitters are for on its head
You've inspired me Greg. Time to hit the journal to come up with a recipe!
My mom loves Old Fashioneds, and I cant wait to make one of these for her and see what she thinks of it!
I've seen campari old fashioneds done with gin but I think the scotch works better, imo.
Um, this absolutely sounds like a drink I'd love. My favorite combination is scotch and cynar.
@@mommylap it's definitely worth trying; a great combination of smokey and bitter. My next step with it is to try a Luxardo cherry with the orange twist. I think that'll bring it all together.
Try this recipe I made, every one who’s tried it has loved it.
Angostura bitters
3 drops orange bitters
3 drops black walnut bitters
1 Brown sugar cube
2 oz woodford reserve
Crush and mix
Add ice cubes and woodford reserve cherry
And if you like add 1 oz of water, I personally don’t
Watching this while enjoying a hazelnut old fashioned. Delicious!
Can I just say.. your watch collection is amazing! Love that Monaco!
Old fashioned week is coming quick! Make another old fashioned video!!
