結成当時から「痛み」をテーマに活動をし、これまで数々の作品を世に産み出してきたDIR EN GREYが2019年9月18日に発表する待望のNEW SINGLE『The World of Mercy』が発表されることが決定致しました。
本作は、2018年4月25日に発表された『人間を被る』より約1年5ヵ月ぶりとなる待望の最新音源作品となります。

КАКАШКА
20年近く前のいわゆる病んだ子（わたし）に突き刺さったディルだったけど
今やもう、現代の子に対して大衆的と言って良いのかもしれないな、悲しいけど。みんな病んでるよ、この世の中。
この曲とPVを観て最初に感じたのは京都アニメーションのアニメ映画『聲の形』だった。
歌詞の世界観、凄惨ないじめ、孤独、死への願望といった要素が全て組合わさっており、まさにあの映画に通じる。実はこの曲をカラオケで歌う際はあのアニメの映像を観ながら歌っているのだが、実にしっくりくるのである。
また自分としては「Rananculus」のアンサーソングであり、収録されていたアルバムの『The Insulated World』の別のかたちでの結末ではないかとも思っている。
とにかく深い、DIR EN GREYのなかでも屈指の考えさせられるナンバーである。
今の時勢に最も合った「痛み」。結成から一貫して「痛み」を歌っているDIR EN GREYはやはりロックだなと思います。貫くことはカッコいい。
今回の痛みが壮絶すぎる。
こんな世の中だけど、いっそのこと開き直ろうって気持ちにさせてくれる。
ドラマの３年A組が題材なのかな？

Bruh, this is going to be fucking phenomenal! I love the chorus so much! And the MV is so disturbing but looks very interesting at the same time. Can't wait for the whole song. I'm always so amazed that even after all those years they are able to create something new, fresh and beautiful with of course the wicked image of the real world we live in.
It's crazy really, I mean I follow a lot of bands who have released new songs recvently but there's something about the alien atmosphere DEG allow to build in songs like these, it's like, hard to even compare it directly to something
@@danb7601 I know right? they create this unique atmosphere and vibe around their songs and MVs that I'm really drawn to. It's so different but yet so familiar... It's so fascinating. I love what they did with the Insulated World and now The World of Mercy? Goddamn.

I saw them in 2007 in Portland Oregon and then in 2008 and in 2010. I was 13 in 2007 and in high school the last two times I saw them. I am now 26 and seeing them in Cleveland.

他のアーティストの曲だと聞いてる途中で消しちゃったりするんだけど、Dirの曲は途中でも消そうと思わない。そのまえに惹き込まれていつの間にか曲が終わってる。
I love the video. It's a shame that we rarely get to see the "creative direction" behind DEG PVs because this person/team really deserves more credit. This one is a mix of some things that I really love: Tetsuya Nakashima's Kokuhaku (Confessions), Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys and Shūji Terayama's imagery (specially on the b/w collage with the face of the "teacher" and the nightmarish/disfigured depiction of childhood). Terayama's influence was also strong in Ranunculus PV. It seems someone from the art department in FIREWALL DIV. has been rewatching Den-en ni Shisu :P

@@vicentgalvan70 all the references are mainly, in my opinion, taken from Den-en ni Shisu (Pastoral: To Die In The Country). When I saw Ranunculus for the first time I thought "oh, maybe they took those influences", but after seeing a lot of them also in this one I am almost sure. First of all, the whole "circus" setup, although there is a common "freak show" imagery that could be from somewhere else, the creepy/dark atmosphere with the midgets and, specially, the scene of a midget "inflating" a fat bride/balloon is one of the most emblematic scenes of the movie. Also, kyo's second costume in the PV (also and specially during the Insulated World' tour) reminds a lot of Terayama's depiction of the "old witches" that represent "death" on that film and through his work. In any case, DeG and their former pals (meaning the early "eroguro" visual kei bands, and even the pioneers like Buck-Tick) were always aestethically influenced by the provocative underground japanese cinema/art/music, specially the Tenjo Sajiki performances (a theater company lead by Terayama with music by J.A. Seazer). If you search for images or videos you could easily see the surreal/dark/grotesque looks are very similar, but in the late 60's. Terayama's influence in the japanese underground culture is just fascinating, it''s a shame that almost everybody forgot about his legacy :(

@@vicentgalvan70 Btw, I forgot to mention the band "Strawberry Song Orchestra", which are all Terayama (and Tenjo Sajiki) followers that started a very interesting rock band based on the Tenjo Sajiki performances and all this imagery. Goddamn this is so beautiful. I can hear each instrument so well and balanced with Kyo's voice. Amazing drums by Shinya, that brooding bass by Toshiya and the crisp guitars from Die & Kaoru.

I'm so damn depressed the tour isn't coming ANYWHERE in the southeast U.S. :/ I've been to every tour since 2008 (except 2015 because I just couldn't), so I haven't seen them since 2013. Used to drive up the entire east coast to do as many dates as we could (usually 4-5) with a couple friends.
Now the friends are gone and I can't afford to drive to New York from Florida :'(
New York sold out immediately, but I'm flying out to Dallas just to see them. I'm from Maryland o_o

I gotta be honest, I was kinda disappointed when I listen to this song for the first time. I was like, damn this song boring af bruh. But then, it's all changed after I listen to the full song. To me, this feels like discovering Vinushka for this first time. You can't enjoy the song just by listening to it once, or twice. You gotta listen at 10 times, until you find yourself humming the lyrics.
