So the group you just saw is called talon. They are an extremist group that believes the only way for humanity to survive is through combat and war. They are led by doomfist and they mostly try to start wars and fuel them. That is why widowmaker killed mondata ( the big omnic peace monk) to disrupt the peace between omnics and humans and to enable null sector to start the second omnic crisis. Members include: reaper, widowmaker, sombra, moira and sigma. Mauga on the other hand used to be full time talon operative together with babtist, however after babtist fled talon, he became sort of a mercenary for hire. He often does things with talon but he also has his own agenda namely finding babtist. There is much more lore behind the creation of talon and all the characters ofc but this is mainly for more talon information
You should watch the cutscenes of the archives modes (uprising retribution storm rising) since they are not on the game since ow2 and they have interest pieces of lore too and if you like you could read the comics too thats the last pieces of lore you didn't see as far as I remember.
I would definitely love for Overwatch to get an animated series. We had hopes for it to be Genesis the "miniseries" when it was announced but later they told us it will be 3 parts of 5 minutes each which is a joke to call it even a mini series at that point. lol Fans have been asking for one for years now.
Mauga and Baptiste have history, they fought on the same team together then things went awry, you've probably heard prematch voicelines with Bap/Mauga/Sombra
The main too bad guy, groups, art talon, and Null sector. Null sector is the Omnic extremist group responsible for starting the second Omnic war, and the Omnic invasion led by Ramattra. other people of explained talon so I won’t. Both bad guy groups have their own goals that sometimes align so they have been doing to team up and work together but other times not so much. In this scenario, Talon is actually stealing from Null sector. Doom fist, reaper, Moira, Sombra, and Widowmaker are all members of Talon. A few of the members are ex blackwatch members, and some of the characters who are now a part of overwatch, where at one time talent members. Some characters have even been an ex black watch members who joined Talon, and then left to go back to be a part of overwatch. Mauga is not actually a bad guy. He just happens to be working for the bad guy group in this short, but in actual fact, he’s a mercenary, so he’ll work for whoever pays him.
Mauga is basically a sociopath, he likes violence, HOWEVER, him and baptiste were friends (and ex lovers) and bap was the only one who could come mauga down on the battle field, making them a great duo, then baptiste (as we know) wanted to leave talon because of the harm he saw them doing, Mauag covered for him but kept tracking baptiste down to get him to join back
@@Ajoi14 The writer of Baptiste's short story (aka the creator of muaga) Confirmed it, they are written as exes and the story is meant to be a love story. Im not spreading false information if its literally been confirmed lmao

Fun fact about Mauga: He and doomfist battled once, ending in a draw. Just shows how strong mauga really is.
7:50 it’s worth noting that despite being affiliated with talon, Mauga is a merc for hire kind of guy. He’s even worked with sojourn in the past.

Mauga is so interesting of a character. He is way smarter than you think. And not only muscle

6:45, Big Man is a MERCENARY, and a PIRATE, that's the definition of a loose cannon.
