Shoutout to whoever produces and edits these videos! Even for a simple q&a video, everything is so nicely done. Way above what I'd expect from a smaller RUclips channel.
Just wanted to say that I appreciate that you look at women's clothing as well as men's - most other 'clothing quality' content I've seen really only deals with men's clothing, but I also want to know! The market also seems to assume women aren't similarly interested in buying good quality clothing (e.g. brands sharing the gsm of their men's t shirts but not women's).
Without beeing sexist, I can give you my guess; woman tend to buy in higher quantities whereas men buy less, so you have to convince them otherwise, for example on technical details/functioanlity etc
@@IamaDanish It is not sexist to highlight differences in consumer behaviour between sexes. And didn't sexism also require there to be a negative statement?
We all wanna see you take apart a chrome hearts piece! Not the blanks they print on but something like maybe their leather pants etc…. Love the channel bro !
I'm someone who's been trying to get into designing & making my own modern garments that match or surpass ready-to-wear designer quality. This channel has been refreshing given how so many 'garment making/sewing' channels focus on traditional/historic womens' wear, and how many 'start a brand/business' channels are centered around running a grift flipping blanks. I've learned a lot about fabric & construction for modern garments here. My question is, what's your story? What was the path that lead to you creating a design agency?
Thank you for the kind words; we're glad you've been enjoying the angle we take with these videos! Joe goes into a bit more depth on his background and how he got into fashion in one of our upcoming question videos, so stay tuned for that if you're interested!
As someone from Singapore, thanks…. We hate it as much as the next person who came in the wrong season of heavy shows in one place, and within 1hr of travel or less, hot and humid…. We’re slightly better than Thailand, as most of the places are underground connected. Do love the series and more tips on brands or materials to look out in certain weather conditions, say Singapore humid and dry but rains randomly….
Just discovered your channel and I subscribed after just a few videos! I love how open you are with sharing your knowledge and experience with us! I would love to see you review some knitwear as we move into the colder months like baa baa or the knotty ones! Keep up the good work!! 💜💜
Really appreciate your work. In the process of binging every video. Would you mind doing a video on how a small brand could find a suitable manufacturer, like at a sourcing tradeshow. Like what kind of questions to ask and things to look out for. Thanks.
A brand I feel like you should do is Gallery Dept. I bought one tee from them and it fell apart faster than any other I’ve ever worn. Their price points are insanely high for some of the cheapest cotton I’ve ever worn. Definitely haven’t bought from them again.
After seeing a video recently that showed the amount of pfas that shed from gore-Tex I’ve looked to wear more natural fibers. Would love to see more reviews of linen and the like when summer hits.
The media team actually ran into that video as well and we're thinking about potentially adding that to the list of things that we test for in some of our upcoming series. It also seems that a lot of folks are interested in linen, so we'll definitely look into doing a video on that when summer rolls along!
Hey! Love your videos! As a mechanical engineer I particularly appreciate the level of detail and technical knowledge you bring to the fashion world. May I ask, what your background is, and how you educated yourself on all these different processes and technologies?
Hello, could you do a review of different jeans? I’m partial to Old Navy jeans but I find the quality is only ok. Also, maybe looking at Levi’s. Thaaaaanks
Hi Shift! I watched your Podcast with Glass Factory and you both recommended new clothing brands learn everything about garment manufacturing. Do you have any book recommendations for someone new to this industry to read? About fabrics, stitching methods, etc? I want to be about to speak competently with manufacturers when trying to bring my ideas to life, I don’t just want to be “someone who draws,” like you both talked about. Specific books, online courses, etc would be incredibly helpful. Thanks again for all you do, your content is amazing
You are well spoken. Good job, not a typical influencer in the way you speak. Very professional. Can tell you're not a fraud from the way you answer, does not seem to be necessarily rehearsed.
Don't know if previously discussed haven't went through all your videos yet but any thoughts on polyester and micro plastics etc? But at the and time being unable to find quality cotton shirts the replace a nice blend
One more q- how is wholesale fabric sourced? Are there MOQs that might be feasible for an individual to buy if they want to make & iterate upon many garment designs using the same quality fabric?
Best gym clothes brand recommends? I really need sth that last long and not lose its shape quickly ! … and hope you do a lot of video about gym clothes from big brands Young LA, Gymshark, Under Armour, Nike & Addidas
We don't usually recommend any specific brands, as most brands use different suppliers across their range, making it difficult to judge quality as a whole without looking at their entire range. That said, we are going to be doing some comparative testing where we look at how similar products from different brands stack up to each other, so stay tuned if you're interested in that!
Sure thing! We have an upcoming series planned where we go into a lot of detail about the kinds of testing that we do, so stay tuned and subscribe if you're interested in seeing that when it comes out!
Please compare manufacturing costs from country to country. Use a tee or a crew neck fleece as an example and break down how the manufacturing costs and MOQs might compare.
We don't review brands as a whole, only individual garments, as most brands work with multiple suppliers, making it difficult to evaluate their quality across the board.
@Shiftfashiongroup hey sorry I meant to ask if you would ever consider deconstructing a piece from anyone of those brands. Curious about Zegna as they're vertically integrated.
I would love to see you take a look at the Yeezy Gap double layer “no seam” tee. I love it and would love to see what you think about its construction!
I have watched all of your videos since June. I can say that I make my girlfriend watch them as well so she doesn’t think I’m being neurotic about the quality of clothing that I would like my line to be. What manufacturers would you recommend for a samples. Hoodies and sweats and sweatshirts. I have 4 colors so far. Black and white. White and black. White on white and black on black.
