    One thing I noticed about Zheng is her composure. Doesn’t get too high or low whether she wins or loses a point. And doesn’t get rattled by opponent taking a questionable injury timeout. I can see a lot more wins in her future

      That's how alot of Chinese players are. They are trained in Sun Tsu the art of war. So no emotions so your opponent can't get a read on you. When you're on the courts you're doing battle and you are the stoich cold hard assassin.

      I have to agree with you. I didn’t get to see this match in its entirety but I did see the Quarterfinal and I was thinking it throughout that match. We should remember too that’s she’s 21, the same age as Raducanu and Fernandez. A very different arc to her career though.

      @kiabtoomlauj6249 11 месяцев назад +2

      Her move up the ranking in the last 15 months is reminiscence of Osaka's own move, from around the 50 - 60the places to #1 in less than 15 months. Three plus years ago, 2020, for example, Zheng was ranked in the 750 range in the world.
      She is currently #13. If she wins the AO, with the points from it, she likely is going to be a Top 5. One more win from another Grand slam open, especially if it's the one following the AO... and she's likely #1!
      ... I haven't checked the exact points, but that's my general estimation, for women.
      Men have established a more robust ranking system, with the Top 5 or so being so much ahead of the rest, from winning consistently more major opens, so their points are also much more robustly accumulated.
      Women, again, are much more fluid, in major point fluctuations, because #12 for women could easily win a grand slam event as #4, if one or two Top 10 is missing for any such major open.
      One or two guys from the Top 10 missing, in any grand slam, isn't going to give a Top 15 guy any more chances of winning a grand slam... because every Top 15/10/5 in the men's circuit is almost equally tough to play against...

    I am so happy & proud of Qinwen. She’s been a breath of fresh air since I first saw her step foot on the tour. Loved her technique & movement around the court, I knew she was gonna be big.. fast forward 2 years and here we are! She’s worked hard, been consistent, improved, learned from her mistakes & pushed thru. She might be the next Li Na.. even Li Na showed up to watch her. A lot of excitement around this player.

      She did great but kinda got lucky on an easy draw. She only had to face 6 no name players to get to the finals. Not sure if she's got enough firepower against Saba but could be Tortoise and the Hare. Saba will think it's a slam dunk against this no name player and slack off and that's how Qin can strike and win.

Not once did he refer to the other player as the "The European"..How difficult it is to refer to Zheng by her name..Does he call all non European players by their ethnicity! Never heard him refer to Coco Gauff as the "African American" or Sabalenka as "The Russian"..It's demeaning at best when these commentators openly shows their bias!

      I have no idea what's in the commentators' head and don't know why they think it's a good idea to refer to people's race/gender/etc at this time and age, but it's probably because there are not many Chinese players on tours. For example, if you say the female Chinese at the AO, everybody kind of know who you refer to. But the female European obviously won't work.

    If you don't look at the score, just by viewing the clips selected in the video will make you think Dayana is playing much better then Zheng, and is winning the match.
    But then the score is 2-0... strange editing.

      Yes, just because Zheng is from Mainland China. It is as simple like that. Biased editing; it gave you the feeling that the winner was playing bad & loosing.

    Qinwen has been playing amazingly so far, but I don't see how she can beat Sabalenka tbh. She needs to work on that 2nd serve, and depth overall as Sabalenka will punish any weak shots. I'm calling a 6-2, 6-1 for Aryna. It's gonna be a tough match for her I reckon.

    Hi! am going to make a comment about what my old Auntie who just arrives from Mainland China, tells me. Many of us would find it silly & laughable, even ridiculous. I just repeat what she says: Zheng qinwen is born year 2002, Lunar horoscope of the Horse, should have a very auspicious year of the Rabbit(2023). She must win something very fortunate before the Chinese New Year 2024 (the year of the Dragon) which starts on the 10th FEB 2024 (our Roman Calendar). And she is in the Final of the Australian Open.
