Great explanation, thanks, So much to learn, please consider to add close caption to your videos, I speak spanish and some times Is difficult to follow your instructions, you speak so fast, regards from Mexico.
Hello captain. Today i did a sector EHRD - LICJ. My Simbrief-made FPL gave me a cruising level of FL350, but halfway the flight the FPL showed me to descent to FL290 (just inside MILAN FIR/UIR). I had a bit of a struggle to adapt the fmc to this. How is it done in real live with an initial higher cruise and a lower cruise further on in the flight? I can send you the FPL if desired. Thank you in advance and looking forward to your next stream!
Hello FD2S! I've got a question for ya if you will. I dont know If you already included this information in your videos, but how does one specificaly know which SID and/or STAR to use? Is it common to leave this field blank in the FMC untill ATC gives you instructions? Because when I'm flying online in- or outbound from an airport I'm always relying on the ATC to give me these instructions. Say if there isn't an ATC online, how will I know which route to take? Thanks for the quality content!
Hi Toine, Briefly covered in Part 1 of my Full Flight Tutorials. The information typically comes from our Flight Plan and is usually correct. Annoyingly, both in flight sim and real life, it can change at very short notice, especially at large busy airports with multiple arrivals! In reality we have to re-select the new SID/STAR, re-brief and then go fly it! Hope this helped answer your query! FD2S.
In FSX, its default setting at throttles shall be reduced at 1800 altitude but, can you explain real life procedure? With N1 engaged and autothrottle armed, will it reduce automatically? In airbus You have to move back throttles physically to CL Detent after pfd gives Prompt to reduce thrust.
Hi Kk, It's set using Takeoff Page 2 in the FMC. The A/T will command ARM at 800ft and at the thrust reduction altitude (Defaulted to 1500ft based on my operators SOP's) it will command N1 and the A/T schedule change to CLB power. My Take Off Tutorial shows this happening at 09:57 ruclips.net/video/eI-FtpfSILo/видео.html Boeing is not scary like the Airbus! The thrust lever always moves as the thrust changes! FD2S.
I think you will find all this info is available in your flight planner (Simbrief or PFPX) and your Takeoff & Landing Performance Calculator [TOPCAT or Virtual Performance Tool).
Hi FD2S Great Video:) In the video you mentioned that your European carrier only has a European database. How is it that they can fly the plane from Seattle to Europe if there is no database for that part of the world. Thanks😀
nice video and great explaining, have a question what is co route segment used at route page in cdu and how do you insert altn route because as much as I see you didn't make any altn route setting
Hi Mert, thanks! My operator doesn't utilise company routes, we have to type it every time! 😫 The same for ALTN routing, this option is not selected and used. I have a diversion tutorial you might find useful! That explains how we divert to an alternate using our SOP's and procedures 👍🏼 Fly safe! FD2S
Hi ! great channel you have, I have a question how do you assume the 48degress for the thrust setting, that is the only thing that I have not clear to set up the FMC and because of that I always select TO-1
From my understanding he just raised the temperature a bit to ensure the climbing will be optimized, since as he said, the higher the altitute the hotter it is, so the +10 raise should cover the temperature variation when climbing.
Hi, Thanks for the video, I get all of what you have said, I get why a derated take off works, Also see why you would have an asumed temp so you can derate, However in this video you used 48Degrees, How did you get that figure?? Software? I use the Zibo,
Hi there, I use the Boeing OPT App off of my work EFB which isn’t available for general use. I’ve been advised there’s software called TOPCAT which provides comparable data for sim enthusiasts. You can see me use it in my newer tutorials. FD2S
Hi lionell, Using the OPT I have found most the time with the same parameters the performance is identical. Sometimes there does appear to be some discrepancies. APU Bleed for example affects the N1 value in the FMC pre-departure. It works off Duct Pressure and it automatically gives you the N1 value with the engines off so long as you have the APU Bleed On, Isolation Valve Open and the Packs in Auto. There is often some difference in the figures then but usually within 1% which is negligible! FD2S
That is correct, that's how you insert the information on the LEGS page of the FMC. A = At or Above B = Below If you leane no A or B and make it a hard speed/altitude (In Bold) it's AT meaning exactly that altitude or speed. FD2S.
I have a question... How do you know which numbers to put on the DES FORECAST page for the use of anti-ice? I mostly use PFPX or Simbrief for flight planing. So how do I know where would I turn on the engine anti-ice, where is the top of the cloud, how thick is the cloud layer? Can I get this kind of info from the flight plan?
Hi Johnny! Great question. It's a feature we seldom use because it's difficult to predict at what level we descend through clouds especially if we descent through several layers of cloud! I've not used it once in five years! Good Luck! flightdeck2sim
How do you know which departure you are going to use ? Because the way I know it that you get a departure with your clearence. Also where do you get all the essential charts for your flight?
Hi Raed, usually by the forecast wind but sometimes you can take off with a tailwind if there is a preferential runway, as you said you'll find out when you get your clearance! I use Navigraph charts which you can get for a small subscription, they are kept up to date and are identical to real world charts. FD2S
Hi flydeck2sim ive been looking everywhere in the FMC where to insert the values for the MINIMUM call when landing... can you please help me with that? thanks! and very cool video!
Ugh... The SEL/OAT still gets me. I enter it the exact way you do but I keep getting invalid entry. Try another way without this / and same result... OH COME ON!
Regarding the CI, I use the one for whichever RW airline I am flying in the sim. But, I see that some are variable, eg. KLM is 30 on CLB, but then 15 for CRZ. Do you change this from 30 to 15 in the FMC once you've reached your Cruise FL, then?
Hi Douglas, never heard of operators changing CI in flight, might be the case but it's something we don't do in my outfit. A lot of operators will use a variable CI but we have a fixed CI, it hasn't changed for some time!
I notice you don't use the take off page 2 ? Is that because you don't take off with VNAV engaged so the thrust reduction and acceleration heights are not effective ???
Hi nemisis34, That is exactly right. When we engage the A/P at 1000ft LVL CHG automatically engages and we accelerate the aircraft by setting the "UP" speed We don't manipulate any information on Page 2, we leave the default value of 1500ft (N1 engages at the Thrust Reduction Altitude) FD2S.
It really varies. In Europe it's extremely busy. If we're radar vectored on Final Approach we're often under speed control, something VNAV PTH struggles to control so we would revert to other modes like LVL CHG and V/S to comply with any speed restriction given by ATC. You can manipulate waypoint in the FMC and VNAV PTH will do it's best to comply with those restrictions.
Hi G. Skouras! You can put on the first waypoint after the first turn in the FMC which was the conditional waypoint "intercept" waypoint. This helps prevent the magenta line overshooting the turn. This is Operator specific, other operators might do something differently!
Hi Mark J, This information we find on our Operational Flight Plan (OFP). My latest full flight sim tutorial EMA-DUB Part 1/3 includes an FMC setup with information from the OFP as well. This will help to answer your query. Good Luck! FD2S.
Quick question. What are the STAR transitions? Never use them as I don’t know what they are and often mess up the flight path backtracking to a point already passed (probably sim error)
Hi Kieran, A transition is usually routing from the STAR to the Approach in use or some sort of procedural approach from a beacon. They usually “join the dots” in the FMC but sometimes you have to edit them slightly. FD2S
Hi Vimal. I’ll plan one in the future. In my full flight tutorials I go into a little bit of detail regarding take off performance calculations which you might find interesting! FD2S
when i use simbrief i get routing which shows a couple of waypoints, but then the waypoints section shows a lot more. Which ones do i enter into the FMC?
Hello FlightDeck2Sim, Normally we do not get the MSA in the fix page when preparing the fmc? A 25nm circle in relation to the airport or a beacon? And so in your company you never use TO1 and TO2? You do all the time TO26K with an assumed temperature? See you soon :)
Hi Alexis, Not required to select a 25nm MSA ring but none the less a good idea and some crew do elect to use this for Situation Awareness. For my operator we use the OPT App to initially work out Fixed Derate (26k, 24k or 22k) and then Assumed Temperature Thrust (Selecting a assumed temperature that is higher than the actual temperature) Depending on what thrust setting we use for takeoff decides our derated climb thrust, the FMC will decide CLB-1 or CLB-2 based on what derate we select or/if we decided to use assumed temperature reduction. We don't change it as crew. Use of derated climb thrust actually increases fuel burn on the whole but decreases noise and engine maintenance cost. Hope this helped! FD2S
I saw photos and videos of pilots filming at takeoff and being pilots in your company. And I noticed that there is a circle of 4 nm around the runway on the nd at take-off. And should the radials be traced to be intercepted on the nd using the Page fix?
Alexis Ahh I should think that's the ETP (Emergency Turn Procedure). If there is high terrain around an airport and the SID is over high terrain there will be specific routing to be taken in the event of an engine failure.
Hi there, It's a way of reducing take off thrust. We tell the engines to command the thrust produced if the outside temperature is at the assumed temperature, it's hard to explain if you're not very clued up on take off performance calculations for a jet aircraft HPa or the QNH can be received from the ATIS, METAR. This information can be found online! FD2S
This info wil come from you flight-planner (Simbrief or PFPX) and your Takeoff & Landing Performance Calculator (TOPCAT or Virtual Performance Tool) all available on the web.
Hi JacksModz, it depends on what airport you're flying into. Every airport will have a slightly different procedure, in most cases the STAR will join the APP straight in. FD2S
Hey, I have a question.. I was flying from EDDF to EHAM on IVAO. I choosed the NORK2A approach. The ATC told me after this to take the ARTIP3B approach for RW18R instead. But I couldnt find any ARTIP approaches in my FMC. What am I doing wrong..? The Stars begin with the DENU1A approach..? So he led me with headings to the ILS RW18R.... After that he changed the active RW to 18C. I couldnt change that in my FMC.. There were 2 ACT markings on the arrival FMC site and I couldnt change that. How can I delete approaches and Runways on my FMC? I am so disapppointed right now.. :-D Thank you very much indeed. BR Manuel
Hi IceColdd99. ARTIP is the IAF for aircraft from the North and East into EHAM. Looking at the latest EHAM charts I cannot see a ARTIP3B arrival so even if you had the latest AIRAC you wouldn't find the STAR in the FMC! If you had stayed on the NORKU 2A you would have made it to ARTIP, this is where the STAR terminates and in real life you'd be on vectors for the ILS at this point. The only way to remove an ACT APP or STAR on the DEP/ARR page in the FMC is to simply re-select another approach, I'm not sure why it couldn't be changed in your case. I wouldn't be too disappointed! This stuff happens all the time in real life! FD2S
Hey FD2S, Thx for the fast reply! I have the newest AIRAC installed. I cant find any ARTIP approaches, the first STAR for EHAM starts with an "D" (don't remember the exact STAR Name). Maybe it also has something to do with night approaches on EHAM? I did read this in some forums today. I have another question... When I am seletcting a STAR for an ILS approach. Sometimes it happens that the route is not connecting every Waypoint. As your tutorials say.. this sometimes happen. But do I need to get a clearance from the ATC to connect that Waypoints? Or is this a normal thing in STARS to connect the waypoints without any contact to the ATC? Thanks BR Manuel
Usually with the OFP the last waypoint is the beginning of the STAR. If it's not you essentially just "join the dots" and confirm the routing with ATC. FD2S
Hi there, great video but a word of advise if I may, the background noise is very realistic but too loud and when you try to explain sounds like if you where whispering, many words are really hard to understand but nevertheless great video, thank you
Hi barilier They were from a real world OFP but you will be pleased to know simbrief (www.simbrief.com/) use the identical format (LIDO) and is generated in the exact same way as the real world OFP. FD2S
Hi Carol, SIDS are typically based on ground navigational aids. If you have a look at my Takeoff Tutorial it covers some points regarding flying an SID accurately in the 737. ruclips.net/video/eI-FtpfSILo/видео.html Good Luck! FD2S
Hi Dave, thanks! Yes I work for a European Operator (4000 hours on the 737-800) and instruct in a Level D sim Keep an eye my social media accounts like FB and Instagram where I provide real footage from the flight deck and provide an insight to commercial operations. These videos are designed for serious simmers who would perhaps like to operate a 737 aircraft just like it’s done in real life and is just a little insight into what goes on behind the locked door! All the best! FD2S
Many thanks for that, i sure will check you out on social media! and i shall pick your brains if i can at some stage? after being tour manager for a famous rock band for 25 years i have now retired to a considerably quieter life! As ive always wanted to, im just starting out on flight simming! I have a friend who is a pilot and singer in a band, but his life is so busy, its hard to acquire any of his time. so im looking to network with experienced people especially current or past real world pilots a well as the community to ask all the newbie questions ("whats that do ...gulp") i have been lucky enough to go behind that "locked" door a few times over the past 30 years (absolute commercial aviation anorak) before it was as heavily guarded as it now has to be, and have seen the fmc up close (a bit) and have pressed the localiser switch and felt the aircraft turn and capture the thing (for a laymen almost as good as sex!) many thanks for the response and safe flying!
Hi Dave, Sounds like you’ve had a far more exciting career then I’m planning on having!! There really is some great content available. Flight sim has changed quite a lot when I started in the early 2000’s. I only really came back to it when I started this channel at the beginning of the year but I used it throughout my training to practice operating different aircraft and to practice IFR Procedures. I was very fortunate to end up where I am now and have been flying the 737 for 6 years now. I now instruct and do re-currency for the Airline I work for. The PMDG NGX is a very good product and certainly realistic enough to replicate real world Procedures which is exactly what I share on my channel. I try to answer as many queries as possible both here and on FB. You’ll be up and running in no time! Take care, FD2S
flightdeck2sim many thanks for your response, I don’t think there Is a more exciting career than professionally flying a 767, and the potential for future conversions to other aircraft! My career had many highs but rehab 4 times for heroin and cocaine addiction is the downside and hard to avoid im lucky I’ve been clean for 17 years and left just about with my sanity intact! The “commercial side of music is evil” and I wouldn’t wish it my worst enemy. I appreciate the information, I currently have the PMDG 747-400 (dash 400 is a plane I adore) as well as PMDG 737 NGX. I wonder if you have used the PMDG 747? If so your thoughts on its realism, is if the 737 has more realism, I would immerse myself into that plane fully to get a better/real experience?
Well I'm happy you made it through to the other side in one piece relatively unscathed! I don't know much about the PMDG 747, never flown it! If it's anything like the NGX then it will be very close to the real thing! The NGX is pretty accurate and although there are some differences, it's reasonably well modelled against the real aircraft. FD2S
I've always started by inputting the departure in the FMC, then putting the waypoints, airways, etc. Does it make any difference to do it the other way around? Nice video btw.
Hi GinjaNinJa, It doesn't matter either way, so long as it's activated and executed prior to departure. This is just the order with our SOP's. Glad you enjoyed it! FD2S
Hi Kronic Gaming, I need to seek approval from my operator I'm afraid. I do however share photos from the flightdeck during non-critical phases of flight which you can find on my Instagram account if you're at all interested! instagram.com/flightdeck2sim FD2S.
A pilot actually recommended this to me, I loved it!
Hi guys!
Sorry for background noise being too loud! You'll notice newer tutorials don't have this issue. I'll update this tutorial in the future to so you can hear me a lot clearer.

best CDU/FMC learning video yet! thanks!
Our company uses "Co route" for the most part.. Great vid. Correct info with slight OPS differences between companies.
Not used it at my current outfit, we have to type it out every time 😫

Just started following!! Great videos, may have questions down the road
Welcome Rajat!

Hi Toine,
Briefly covered in Part 1 of my Full Flight Tutorials.
Hi Kk,
It's set using Takeoff Page 2 in the FMC. The A/T will command ARM at 800ft and at the thrust reduction altitude (Defaulted to 1500ft based on my operators SOP's) it will command N1 and the A/T schedule change to CLB power.
My Take Off Tutorial shows this happening at 09:57
ruclips.net/video/eI-FtpfSILo/видео.html
Boeing is not scary like the Airbus! The thrust lever always moves as the thrust changes!
FD2S.
you made this look easy buy just coming out with this that and everything else, where are we meant to find this info your refering to
I think you will find all this info is available in your flight planner (Simbrief or PFPX) and your Takeoff & Landing Performance Calculator [TOPCAT or Virtual Performance Tool).
Hi FD2S
Great Video:)
In the video you mentioned that your European carrier only has a European database. How is it that they can fly the plane from Seattle to Europe if there is no database for that part of the world.
Thanks😀
They do have Seattle in the database and a few enroute/diversion airports in Canada for that routing!
FD2S
Please can you explain me why is N1 thrust setting lower when I put APU bleed ON I dont understand?
nice video and great explaining, have a question what is co route segment used at route page in cdu and how do you insert altn route because as much as I see you didn't make any altn route setting
Hi Mert, thanks!
My operator doesn't utilise company routes, we have to type it every time! 😫
The same for ALTN routing, this option is not selected and used. I have a diversion tutorial you might find useful! That explains how we divert to an alternate using our SOP's and procedures 👍🏼
Fly safe!
FD2S
Awesome video!!!
Thanks a lot Ben, will update it at some point!
FD2S
Hi ! great channel you have, I have a question how do you assume the 48degress for the thrust setting, that is the only thing that I have not clear to set up the FMC and because of that I always select TO-1
From my understanding he just raised the temperature a bit to ensure the climbing will be optimized, since as he said, the higher the altitute the hotter it is, so the +10 raise should cover the temperature variation when climbing.
How to find SEL temp? OPT says that it is in DEMO mode. Any posibility to run this?
Hi, Thanks for the video, I get all of what you have said, I get why a derated take off works, Also see why you would have an asumed temp so you can derate, However in this video you used 48Degrees, How did you get that figure?? Software? I use the Zibo,
Hi there,
I use the Boeing OPT App off of my work EFB which isn’t available for general use. I’ve been advised there’s software called TOPCAT which provides comparable data for sim enthusiasts. You can see me use it in my newer tutorials.
FD2S
flightdeck2sim ok thanks.
Hello sir, great videos. Are you using your Boeing OTP for takeoff and climb perf calc? Are they right for the PMDG software? Thanks!
Hi lionell,
Using the OPT I have found most the time with the same parameters the performance is identical.
FD2S
Great !! Question, When we enter altitude and speed restrictions, whats A and B like 6000A or 220B?
That is correct, that's how you insert the information on the LEGS page of the FMC.
A = At or Above
B = Below
If you leane no A or B and make it a hard speed/altitude (In Bold) it's AT meaning exactly that altitude or speed.
FD2S.
flightdeck2sim Thanks captain but if A or B isnt mentioned at all. What does FMC understands from it?
Kk - it then keeps exact speed or alt at that wpt . A means above b means below
Hi im using the captain sim 767 on the cdu when i press the menu button nothing happens is this normal?
Great vids my man. Many thanks.
Cheers Andy!
FD2S
So if you enter a waypoint or airway, and the various counterparts show up, you basically always choose the top one (which is nearest to you)?
Choose the one applicable to your routing/flight plan
FD2S
is there any other performance calculation for b737? cant find wmkk airport using the one you gave.
Very nice, thanks!
You're welcome!

I can start up pmdg 737 from cold and dark in 2-3 minute, still cant use fmc
How do you know which departure you are going to use ? Because the way I know it that you get a departure with your clearence.
Also where do you get all the essential charts for your flight?
Hi Raed, usually by the forecast wind but sometimes you can take off with a tailwind if there is a preferential runway, as you said you'll find out when you get your clearance!
I use Navigraph charts which you can get for a small subscription, they are kept up to date and are identical to real world charts.
FD2S
@@flightdeck2sim well thank you your video was really helpful as well as your reply (:
Hi flydeck2sim
ive been looking everywhere in the FMC where to insert the values for the MINIMUM call when landing...
can you please help me with that?
thanks! and very cool video!
Hi Kevin,
You don't use the FMC to set minimums. We use the BARO/MINS Selector on the EFIS Panel.
FD2S
ok found it! thanks a lot !
Hi nemisis34,
That is exactly right. When we engage the A/P at 1000ft LVL CHG automatically engages and we accelerate the aircraft by setting the "UP" speed
We don't manipulate any information on Page 2, we leave the default value of 1500ft (N1 engages at the Thrust Reduction Altitude)
FD2S.
flightdeck2sim, but just out of curiosity: what do you supposed to put into "RW WIND" on takeoff ref page 2?
what about the decelaration point when you approach for landing?are you putting 220 knots to slow down from 250 or you do it manually from the MCP?
It really varies. In Europe it's extremely busy. If we're radar vectored on Final Approach we're often under speed control, something VNAV PTH struggles to control so we would revert to other modes like LVL CHG and V/S to comply with any speed restriction given by ATC.
You can manipulate waypoint in the FMC and VNAV PTH will do it's best to comply with those restrictions.
thanks man please make a video about RNAV-RNP...
What scenery is that
How do you enter the acceleration and thrust reduction heights in the fmc?? AGL?
ruclips.net/video/yPfKEVaXVqY/видео.html
FD2S
nice man one question the 220b knots should be always be on the (INTC) ?
Hi G. Skouras!
You can put on the first waypoint after the first turn in the FMC which was the conditional waypoint "intercept" waypoint.
This helps prevent the magenta line overshooting the turn.
This is Operator specific, other operators might do something differently!
WHere do you go to find out the CRZ heading and wind info for your programmed flight?
Hi Mark J,
This information we find on our Operational Flight Plan (OFP).
Hi Kieran,
A transition is usually routing from the STAR to the Approach in use or some sort of procedural approach from a beacon. They usually “join the dots” in the FMC but sometimes you have to edit them slightly.
FD2S
flightdeck2sim Thanks for the reply makes sense now :)
This is really cool. I'm still a bit confused by the derate page. Can you do a video on how to calculate how much you derate by?
Just select the DEP and ARE airport and it should generate the WPT’s and Airways in between completely automatically.
FD2S
@@flightdeck2sim oh, right thank you. Keep up the great work btw
Hi Captain. Could I ask if the unit of weight of the FMC in the real aircraft is measured KGS or LBS?
Hi Allan,
You can use both. Here in Europe we use KGS where the US sticks to LBS, you change these options in the NGX FMC.
FD2S
Hello FlightDeck2Sim,
Normally we do not get the MSA in the fix page when preparing the fmc? A 25nm circle in relation to the airport or a beacon? And so in your company you never use TO1 and TO2? You do all the time TO26K with an assumed temperature?
See you soon :)
Hi Alexis,
Not required to select a 25nm MSA ring but none the less a good idea and some crew do elect to use this for Situation Awareness.
For my operator we use the OPT App to initially work out Fixed Derate (26k, 24k or 22k) and then Assumed Temperature Thrust (Selecting a assumed temperature that is higher than the actual temperature)
Depending on what thrust setting we use for takeoff decides our derated climb thrust, the FMC will decide CLB-1 or CLB-2 based on what derate we select or/if we decided to use assumed temperature reduction.
Alexis Jagot 4 nm is most likely during landings to mark gear down and flaps15. They use 24k and 22k.
just amazing
Thanks Hasan!
FD2S
Where do I get all the info your putting down in the FMC? I would like to fly from Heathrow to Amsterdam where do I get the info from please ?
Hi there.
May I suggest simbrief. You'll find that flight plans are accurately modelled using the same format by many major airlines.
FD2S
I would recommend onlineflightplanner.org
bro please explain 12:19, what to enter SEL/OAT? U enter 48c, why is that? air temp was 38c ?
and last thing, how to know the hpa to enter?
Hi there,
It's a way of reducing take off thrust. We tell the engines to command the thrust produced if the outside temperature is at the assumed temperature, it's hard to explain if you're not very clued up on take off performance calculations for a jet aircraft
HPa or the QNH can be received from the ATIS, METAR. This information can be found online!
FD2S
flightdeck2sim but if it is hotter wouldn’t we need MORE thrust? If you raise the assumed temp, that “reduces takeoff thrust”.
also... the data that you are inputting.. where are you getting it from.. this is like you are assuming people know all the info already
This info wil come from you flight-planner (Simbrief or PFPX) and your Takeoff & Landing Performance Calculator (TOPCAT or Virtual Performance Tool) all available on the web.
does doing this line you up with the destination runway?
Hi JacksModz, it depends on what airport you're flying into. Every airport will have a slightly different procedure, in most cases the STAR will join the APP straight in.
FD2S
Hey,
I have a question..
Thank you very much indeed.
BR
Manuel
FD2S
Hey FD2S,
Thx for the fast reply!
Thanks
BR
Manuel
Usually with the OFP the last waypoint is the beginning of the STAR. If it's not you essentially just "join the dots" and confirm the routing with ATC.

Can I updated the FMC for free ,my one is 3 years old .Am using pmdg 737 ?.
You need to go to the navigraph site and for a small fee update the database!

Hi there, great video but a word of advise if I may, the background noise is very realistic but too loud and when you try to explain sounds like if you where whispering, many words are really hard to understand but nevertheless great video, thank you
Hi Gino,
This issue has been addressed with my newer tutorials after tweaking the Microphone I used to record my tutorials.
FD2S.
Great video, but why the background noise?
David Kessler it’s the plane engine lol
I'm going to a 737 Flight sim tommorow, any tips so I can look like a pro? xD
Follow my videos obviously! Haha. Just enjoy the experience and listen to the instructors guidance!

12:06-Reduce thrust takeoff and derate climb actually use more fuel.
Yes you’re quite right, that was an error on my part stating fuel burn will be lower by reducing thrust.
Hello
How do you get the top of climb winds?
Hi barilier
They were from a real world OFP but you will be pleased to know simbrief (www.simbrief.com/) use the identical format (LIDO) and is generated in the exact same way as the real world OFP.
FD2S
Ok thank you !
How Do You Read The SIDS ?
Hi Carol,
SIDS are typically based on ground navigational aids. If you have a look at my Takeoff Tutorial it covers some points regarding flying an SID accurately in the 737.

Overall a helpful video, but unfortunately quite short and therefore very compressed.
great videos many thanks! are you a "real boeing pilot" ?
Hi Dave, thanks!
Yes I work for a European Operator (4000 hours on the 737-800) and instruct in a Level D sim
Keep an eye my social media accounts like FB and Instagram where I provide real footage from the flight deck and provide an insight to commercial operations.
Hi Dave,
Sounds like you’ve had a far more exciting career then I’m planning on having!!
Take care,
FD2S
flightdeck2sim many thanks for your response, I don’t think there Is a more exciting career than professionally flying a 767, and the potential for future conversions to other aircraft!
Hi GinjaNinJa,
It doesn't matter either way, so long as it's activated and executed prior to departure. This is just the order with our SOP's. Glad you enjoyed it!
FD2S
Alright, thanks a lot.
you raced through a lot of it.. cant see what buttons you are selecting
Is your Cost Index always 30 ?
We've used 30 and 6 over the last few years. A lot of operators use a variable cost index and others like ours use a fixed CI.
Thanks alot
You’re welcome!
FD2S
Ive seen other pilots record their flights from in the cockpit, is this allowed? Could you record a real flight for us?
Hi Kronic Gaming,
I need to seek approval from my operator I'm afraid. I do however share photos from the flightdeck during non-critical phases of flight which you can find on my Instagram account if you're at all interested!
