      They’d be amazed at by the technology and quality of life improvements. Basically something like
      “Let me get this straight. You mean I can call my family wherever I am and whenever I want by using this phone?”
      Let’s keep things in context. Yeah England isn’t an empire anymore, but let’s not pretend that life was better for commoners back then than it is now.

      The song was from pretty early on it the war when it wasn’t seen as some useless bloody war but rather an opportunity to show your strength and loyalty and such before everyone realised the true meaning of the war.
