I agree completely. I bought an Everse8 to test, set it up to compare against my Yamaha DBR10 and JBL EON One MK2. Brought my friend's S1Pro as well. S1Pro is completely outclassed by the Everse. My friend is now planning on replacing the S1Pros with Everses. However, my DBR10 and JBL were a lot more impressive than the Everse. For less than the price of the Everse, I could get a DBR10, mixer, and a battery pack to run everything. The Everse was impressive, but didn't do anything that I don't already have covered...I sent it back. The EON One MK2 is still the best all-in-one battery powered speaker IMO.
@@joserossy5085that’s exactly it. The eon is pretty big and having to carry a battery back? I don’t run into many scenarios I need more than an Everse and it includes all I need
To each his own. Four years ago I got a Yamaha DBR10. It surely was LOUD and the fidelity was good, but I could not effectively use it without a mixer. So I got a Bose S1Pro. Uhhh. I have stayed with it for 4 years using a Mackie (and now a Yamaha AG06 Mk2) mixer. The mic preamps are pretty pathetic. But last month I was able to trade it in at a Sam Ash in Raleigh and got an Everse 8. I love it! If I go over to a friend's place and we have a singing session with a dozen people, I just can't see carrying an Eon One Mk2. By the way even before the S1Pro I bought an Eon One. Big fat heavy and ugly :) but I love the sound and still have it in our kitchen! I use it for karaoke. Same horribly weak mic preamps with it so I use a mixer. So there it is.
You can overcome the mic power issue with a Shure A85F inline booster transformer that plugs into the Bose S1 Pro mic jack and actually will boost the mic signal much higher. I bought it on Amazon after watching a ytube video discussing the lack of mic volume on the S1 and the fix. It works fantastic and in fact I had to get accustomed to not setting the mic volume past the halfway point. Inexpensive, if I can remember rightly about 32 bucks plus tax Canadian last summer. The mic XLR cable simply plugs into one end and the other end is equipped with a regular 1/4 male that plugs into the Bose unit. Very neat, quick and simple. Amazing increase in mic volume.
I had a Bose S1 for a few weeks and I swapped it for the Everse.Best thing I ever did.Much more headroom, with an 8 inch speaker I get a much rounder bass.Plenty of eq options, while the Bose was very lacking and with the application, that is dead easy to use you can completely control it without even get close to the amp.I found very awkard to reach the controls of the Bose ,I guess it would be easier if mounted on a stand.
EVERSE8 is all around with sound , battery , outdoor , SPL , conveniently use precise tuning with led screen not only see color of led as other very confusing me for Bose and JBL
Thank you. A month or so ago I traded in a 4 year old S1Pro for an Everse8 at a Sam Ash in Raleigh. Wow, I am blown away! However, here's an interesting thing: you played some music on the Everse8 on your video and the music sounded kind of pathetic. The same thing happened to me and I thought, hell, what have I done, trading in the S1Pro for this! Then I discovered it is ALL ABOUT THE EQ SETTINGS. Both on the Cellphone or Tablet and the speaker. On my Galaxy S22+ for instance, if I set the EQ on it for classical music and I play pop music, it sounds horrible! And vice versa! It was a learning curve setting the EQ on the Everse8 but doing that I now have excellent fidelity. And the volume from the mic preamps, awesome! Great sounding vocals too. So delighted with the Everse8. Truly a next generation PA speaker. I also have a JBL Eon One that is over 4 years old. Big, fat, heavy and ugly but I just love the sound! Have to use a mixer though, as the mic preamps are pretty pathetic just like the S1Pro. Really, the Everse8 is entirely a new generation PA speaker and sorry, man, you have not even scratched the surface of that amazing new PA speaker. I did consider an Eon One Mk2 but I already have the original Eon One, and I wanted an easily portable PA speaker to take for parties for karaoke and entertainment. I'm absolutely delighted with the Everse8. And oh, one other unrelated thing: I just bought a Wireless Microphone adapter. I chose the JOYO brand from Amazon. Normally $110, it was on sale for $88. Battery charged, it works for 4-5 hours. Such a delight not being connected by an XLR cable, and the sound is as clear as with a cable. But if you decide to get two, you'll need a short 1 foot XLR cable as they are kind of fat and you cannot plug two of them side by side whether into a PA speaker or a mixer. A short XLR male to female cable solves the problem. But it uses Micro-USB so now I'll have to find a USB-C to Micro-USB cable to charge it from the back of the Everse8. I have two mics, a Shure SM58 and an Audio Technica AE6100 which is far superior. Final comment: it is ONLY FAIR that you plug in a microphone and test the Mic preamps on these PA speakers rather than just blasting some rock music! Really! Thanks for listening!
I think I had the Everse on Speech for that demo lol. Yeah, those settings are nice and can make a big difference in sound! I agree- that is one thing I haven't tested yet

So I've been doing street music (and hundreds of gigs) for over 30 years and have owned several battery powered amps : the aer 60 watt, roland ex street, fishman charge, acus street 8 snd now the everse 8. I'd rate the fishman as the best in terms of natural sound for the acoustic guitar and not bad for vocals too. The aer was probably the best option years ago but always sounded boxy for guitar. Today, with all the other options I'd say it's cv completely overpriced. The acus is a very nice sounding amp but the limityer or compressor kicks in far too early so you can't push it too hard. The roland was probably the worst, especially for guitar and u didn't keep it for too long. The everse is s beast.. Acoustic guitar sounds very good as do vocals and it's so loud and clear. I used it recently for a street festival on a stage as a monitor but it sounded better than the pa so we cut the pa and just used two everse. The eq, effects etc are top snd originally i never wanted digital mixer with submenus but operation for the EV us a breeze with or without the app. The JBL eon mk 2 us also excellent but for my ouroises, the ev ticks all the boxes.
I totally agree with the microphone channel on Bose S1 Pro being very weak in terms of volume so thanks for mentioning that. Instrument and aux inputs can get loud enough but mic channel cannot catch up with their volume. I’ve been using my Bose S1 Pro for busking for a while and I’m struggling to get enough volume from my Shure SM58 microphone even though the mic volume is all the way up. There are 2 options to fix this problem: 1) Buying a portable phantom power and mic pre-amp to increase the microphone volume on Bose, but I can’t justify buying and carrying all that extra stuff just to make Bose work right. 2) Selling Bose and buying the EV 8 which makes more sense to me
If you like the Bose sound, check out the new S1 Pro +. I just reviewed it and I'm super impressed. I think the mic is louder, but for $150 you can get they're wireless transmitter and turn that SM58 into a wireless mic and it's louder too
Damn... I wanted to buy the EV, but I like the manual adjustment knobs on my Bose S1. I just don't want to have to rely on the one-button adjustments on the fly. When I'm performing, I want INSTANT control over my voice and track balance. Any singers out there who agree??
I have seen a ton of videos about those speakers. The Everse 8 looks great, BUT I need to connect two mics and one guitar. So sometimes I think about the EV 30M and the JBL EON mk2, and any conclusion at all.
Nicely done, and thank you. I was already leaning toward the JBL, but figured I'd do a bit more research before buying, so thanks for doing the research for me. Cheers
Your videos are awesome! Really enjoyed them and bought an Everse 8--very impressive. What EQ settings would you recommend for streaming music via Bluetooth for outdoor parties to maximize bass and sound quality? Music would mostly be pop, hip-hop and electronic via Spotify. Keep the videos coming!
I’ve got an S1 Pro when it came out and resell it right away. I’m in the mood to buy battery speakers again but as I have 2 x Bose L1 compact and an Ecoflow battery, I might just stick with that, as the L1 compact covers a large area. The other option could be the Maui 5 Go. I don’t like to have to deploy a speaker stand, even it can be more stable on grass for example. Column speakers have the benefit to be more aesthetic, especially when used for a wedding ceremony or in placed in the dining room. An L1 compact battery powered would be great but would be way too expensive (if that wasn’t the case, they would have release that yet).
Get rid of the stupid DPS window for adjustments! Love my Bose L1 COMPACT!! These new speakers are not set up for live performers. Too hard to make on the fly adjustments
OMG!!! I'm glad that I found your post. Please read mine, where I complained that I didn't want a one-knob adjustment for everything because I'm a live performer and when I need to make minute adjustments to balance my mic v. track levels, I cant' be fumbling around on the stage fooling with this!! I need to have total control instantly, and Bose's simple system makes this possible.
Hate speaker stands too. With ya there. I do use a small mixer for the mic’s into the pair of S1 pros I bought two weeks before the launch of the Everse 8. Sigh. But they’ll work. I would like to hear the JBL in person. I do prefer the column look. Cheers on another good video.
i have read all the comments and i have to say that both the S1 Pro and the EV8 sound really good but at a professional level this is my humble opinion the Bose is Much more faithful and crystalline while although the EV is much more powerful it has a flat sound then i tried to combine the S1 with the Bose SUB1 and there it was a whole different story S1 pro + SUB1 bose Fantastic
I use two S1-pros and a Fishman sub …. My sound is stunning! and totally compact 😊. Don’t forget as well the Bose has the auto EQ that adjusts magically to your situation without the EQ hassle that can be a unhappy gig 👍 when people hear the Bose sound it’s never! Forgotten 👍. I did an outdoor holiday event on Thursday. Sprung on me when I got there they had a choir that needed mics and it was about 100ft away. No problem I’ll setup the S1 Pro’s I brought as backup. Both of their batteries completely dead even though I charged them last week. Took over an hour of charging before they showed any battery. I think the cold really did a number on them.
@@AaronStrawn I get ‘em charged in time but turned out the choir was only a quartet so I handed them my wireless mic and worked perfectly. A lot of setup for nothing!
Good vid!👍🏾.......I was caught between the S1 and the ev everse 8 and I bought the EV! ......but I bought the EV BUT I had to bring it back since it wasn't powerful enough! Finally I exchanged it for a qwc k10.2! It's obviously a beast but I'm back to inverter with external battery pack and no effects or Bluetooth!👊🏾😡 Ultimately if qsc got into the game and produced 10.2 or column array with internal battery with effects and mixer, it will squash all others🤣
I have both the Eon and the S1. I agree with you on the Jbl. The Jbl sounds great! Also, I hate speaker stands. As for the S1 I it's more compact and light. I was thinking in of purchasing the Ev but the only thing it really has is the extra power source for the mic. I'll stick to what I have 😁 Thanks for the comparisons bro!
JBL has been flawless for me all season. I bought the Everse because I thought, here’s a lighter smaller option, but I miss the features of the Eon. Plus, the feedback suppression on the Everse is not as good as the Eon
My negative with the Eon One is how big it is. I pack in the back of a truck and can fit everything I need for a wedding gig and my photo booth and the S1 Pros but the Eon One Mk2’s take up a lot of room in the bed and don’t fit inside really.
Just picked up a pair of Jbl eon one mk2 myself. They sound crisp! Only thing is I’m sure I have it dialed wrong, seems to clip (red front/rear lights) go on most of the time and I’m not even at 12 o clock on my output mixer (rev7) what are your settings on the Jbl to sound it’s best for djaying? Seems most people use them for acoustic/live bands. Thanks!
I know that people had said to do a hardware update and that helped. I've seen red too, just using an ipad. So I don't think volume is this speakers best quality.
I think the eon one is in a different price bracket though I feel that in this case it would be the best overall, wish I could share the moolah for it ..
I bought Everse on October 9th. I live in Russia. I shot a series of amateur videos. Here is one of them - A maximum volume test on the city square in front of the cultural center in Kazan ruclips.net/video/eix1t-15-J4/видео.html . And there, on the gluing, I compared it with the Jbl Eon One Compact column ruclips.net/video/hZQe_CUPfPs/видео.html True, RUclips blocked the full video for Belarus and Russia, had to edit the procedure proposed by the creative studio, and RUclips cut out some fragments. But there is no special equipment for video filming and conditions for home viewing. Maybe I'll come up with something over time. In the meantime, a regular Redmi Note 10 pro smartphone, a hi-res Fiio X5S player for Bluetooth audio transmission and an ordinary 1-room apartment not intended for video reviews. I'm a street musician. I am pleased with the new acquisition. At home with JBL via cable, I use as a stereo audio system to listen to music and play guitar with backing tracks. The bundle sounds like Hi Fi speakers
For everyone raving about the EV 8 can you olease prove to me that the EV8 has an instant plug and play great sound out of the box? I think it's good to go out of the box. Keep in mind my applications. I mostly play this at mid/low volumes for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours. Wireless handhelds sound really, really good on this.
Hello I have EV Everse 8 speaker and have a question about white noise coming out if nothing is connected to the speaker. Is it normal to have white noise for battery operated speakers? Thank you
Trouble with the everse 8 is the stupid DPS window that will be a bitch to see on the fly in a dark bar or pub. Put those knobs on the top where easily found for quick adjustments. Tough to adjust when you have a guitar in your hand in the middle of a tune!
@@AaronStrawn I thought about this problem too. I am a singer/guitarist and I like having the quick access knobs on the S1 Pro. I love the idea of a more powerful speaker, like the EV 8, but having to pull my phone out of my pocket, wake the screen, use fingerprint to unlock the phone, then use 2 hands to hold the phone and operate the app for a sound tweak, while I'm standing on the street with my guitar, it's just not convenient.

JBL eon MK2 no está en la misma línea del Everse 8. No se pueden comparar. Bose S1, JBL eon compact, Mackie go, Everse 8. JBL eon MK2, Evolve 30M, Bose L1 pro8, Mackie flex.
You compared two 8" speakers to a 6" Bose S1 Pro. Of course they're going to play louder, but that doesn't mean their sound quality is anywhere near the one of the Bose. You could easily use the S1 Pros as studio monitors, while the JBLs and the EVs are probably better for pool parties, where it's just not worth the risk of ruining a true masterpiece like the S1 Pro.
I’ve heard many people say the Everse has better sound quality than the Bose S1. I am an acoustic musician and after testing both, I will be buying the Everse 8. Both incredibly clear sounding, I’d even give a slight edge to the EV, but the EV is louder and has way better features and knowing that some flash rain won’t destroy my speaker is very nice. I used to be a Bose guy and still love their products, but I’ve recently found that EV is pretty much king right now after almost everyone I talked to suggested EV to me.

Ugh..nothing like feeling you got it and the batteries are dead. I’m not sure if the Bose app tells you battery life or not
@@AaronStrawn I get ‘em charged in time but turned out the choir was only a quartet so I handed them my wireless mic and worked perfectly. A lot of setup for nothing!
@@cduemig1 that’s how it is sometimes lol
Thank you, Great review brother
Good vid!👍🏾.......I was caught between the S1 and the ev everse 8 and I bought the EV! ......but I bought the EV BUT I had to bring it back since it wasn't powerful enough! Finally I exchanged it for a qwc k10.2! It's obviously a beast but I'm back to inverter with external battery pack and no effects or Bluetooth!👊🏾😡 Ultimately if qsc got into the game and produced 10.2 or column array with internal battery with effects and mixer, it will squash all others🤣
Same- one of the reasons I stayed away from the smaller QSC is it was lacking some of those updated features we all need.
@@cduemig1 that’s why I got the Everse. It def takes up space
I bough 2 Mackie thump go instead. The sound and the volume is plenty enough and they Costs half of the others.
And they can connect together via Bluetooth right?
@@AaronStrawn right! But they can only stream Bluetooth music that way, they can not link what comes in from the line inputs.
@@navassino just sent back my Mackie go. Thing sounded boxy and not enough power for a mic.
Although sound quality is subjective it’s completely remiss to omit this all important aspect.
So I don't think volume is this speakers best quality.
everse looks great but 2023 im sure other companies will bring better out for same price. Bose upgrade, RCF, and others....
I think the eon one is in a different price bracket though I feel that in this case it would be the best overall, wish I could share the moolah for it ..
how about the bose L1
Hey bro. What about the Mackie Thump Go?!? I use them for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours or general PA applications and they work very well..
I’ve heard great things about that one. Didn’t include it cause I don’t have it lol
@@AaronStrawn okay. Interestingly the Mackie Thump Go is the most affordable and one of the best sounding battery powered speakers.
I like the jbl mk2 but the voice sounds boxy not clear but for music its great nice comparision tho 😎
Definitely not gonna blow you away with clarity and sound. But for a battery speaker, it gets the job done. Thanks bro
Two everse8 suitable for how many people's places
I fuckin' love this review.
Thanks, I fuckin' loved makin it!
For everyone raving about the EV 8 can you olease prove to me that the EV8 has an instant plug and play great sound out of the box? Because ive done quite a bit of research stating you have to did deep and tweak around the EQ to get a sweet spot unlike the s1 pro...... my use case is i sing live with -1 karaoke tracks and additionally use a guitar processor with ny guitar......so please someomw help clear my dillema if the EV8 can provide audio quality and right frequencies out of the box
I think it's good to go out of the box. Keep in mind my applications. I mostly play this at mid/low volumes for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours. Wireless handhelds sound really, really good on this.
Hello
I have EV Everse 8 speaker and have a question about white noise coming out if nothing is connected to the speaker. Is it normal to have white noise for battery operated speakers?
Thank you
White noise? Or hiss noise?
Not really. Where are the gains on the channels?
Trouble with the everse 8 is the stupid DPS window that will be a bitch to see on the fly in a dark bar or pub. Put those knobs on the top where easily found for quick adjustments. Tough to adjust when you have a guitar in your hand in the middle of a tune!
What about using the app?
@@AaronStrawn I thought about this problem too. I am a singer/guitarist and I like having the quick access knobs on the S1 Pro. I love the idea of a more powerful speaker, like the EV 8, but having to pull my phone out of my pocket, wake the screen, use fingerprint to unlock the phone, then use 2 hands to hold the phone and operate the app for a sound tweak, while I'm standing on the street with my guitar, it's just not convenient.
Cual me recomendarías para playas, piscina, campamentos. etc. el jbl eon mk2 o el everse 8?
Everse 8
@ pero su batería no es buena , solo dura 3 horas 🤦♂️
Acoustic guitar and vocals. Everse 8 or Jbl mk 2 fit sound quality?
Everse, this speaker sounds great
Settings for evolve 50? Recommend settings? Evolve all the way! TIA
Keep you good work.
I agree the JBL has more horsepower and features, but like I said in the video, these are the 3 I have lol. Thanks for watching!
Ok what about 2 everse 8s compared to 1 jbl mkii ?
That’s my thought. What say you guys!?
After taking the Everse 8 out more, I switch to the Everse. I LOVE this speaker
Test the vocals with the rrverb
HK audio Move8 is a great battery powered system.
I've heard that too. I just never see any of those anywhere around me
@@AaronStrawn I have the Move8. I think it is only sold in Europe.
Here we are, almost a year later. Has your mind changed, or would you still prefer the Jbl?
My mind has CHANGED. I’m all in on that Everse 8. Used it almost the entire wedding season and it was flawless
@@AaronStrawn WOW! Right on! Thanks for the reply. I’m down to Jbl eon one mk2/bose s1 plus combo or ev30m/Everse combo. I think I might go EV. Appreciate you.
Please Next Everse 8 vs Yorkville mobile 8😊
If I could get my hands on a Yorkville I'd do that for sure
The best would be the EV everse it has a built in Dynacord amp
I agree
Everse 8 is great promise😁 I just bought it.
Let me know what you think when you get it
i got it already! I sold my bose s1 pro both perfect speakers but Ev Everse 8 is a game changer!
@@harmlesstv5001 sold my S1 too
Not really a fair comparison. The JBL is double the price of the Everse and nearly 3x the Bose. Also it weighs nearly 20 kilo.
Well, these are the ones that DJs are looking at for battery options
Mala comparación amigo ya que el jbl que metiste los supera por mucho en tamaño, por lo tanto no entra en la comparación, ya que es mucho más estorboso y difícil de llevar, la comparación seria con la jbl eon one compact
As a street performer I found this review a little less than useful. I turned to this hoping to hear your views including the JBL EON 1 Compact. Then you would be reviewing three comparable portable one-piece units. As it is this was aplpes and oranges.
If I had the compact, I woulda included it
Question for you I would only be using it for street preaching what would be better ev or Bose . Thanks in advanced
I'd go with the EV. I think with the ability to hook up a wireless mic and it power it is an advantage and the app. App is like a mixer.
S1 for me but go Steelers
Black n Gold 4 LIFE!
JBL eon MK2 no está en la misma línea del Everse 8. No se pueden comparar.
Bose S1, JBL eon compact, Mackie go, Everse 8.
JBL eon MK2, Evolve 30M, Bose L1 pro8, Mackie flex.
Well...like I said in the video, these were the ones I had lol
Everse has delay. Game over
JBL can do this too, but I agree- I like the Everse
no acustic instrument this is only dj test
That's correct
The JBL EON700 series speakers SUCK, take my word for it!! Don't even waste your money. These speakers completely TRASHED my New Year event.
That yellow sticker distracted me
Huh?
@@AaronStrawn on the Everse. Maybe a screen protector?
@@richbanks911 Of course.
This review was aimed more to DJs. These are the most popular ones
Couldn't give me a jbl....harsh thin sound. Next.
The louder it's pushed the harsher the sound, I agree on that.
no stagepas 200 btr?
Isnt this a very subjective video?
Definitely at the end
