Some great tips for new travelers. If you are experienced, avoid places like Boracay and BGC. It's generic foreigner traps. 7000+ islands to visit, make local friends, get creative. If you're old, Angeles is a good place that takes minimal effort for tail.
@@rayflaherty3441 I think he's saying until you get used to the scam's, it's probably worse in the hot tourist areas. Those places are some of the best for sure, but very expensive even by western standard.
Excellent advice!!!! I’m definitely going to keep this video and watch it again, before I come there! I’m going to skip #32. And, I always love watching your videos, you have such tremendous energy, and amazing vibes! Thank you so much!!
Good advice. Especially the part about the luggage. That is an unpleasant surprise for a lot of people when they learn that International flight weight restrictions are different than regional flight weight restrictions. Check carry on weight restrictions as well, that is also usually lower.
@@Foden5354 It depends on the region and the airlines. I can't speak for regional Philippines airlines because to be honest, I've never flown on one, but I have been bit by rules like this when travelling to Australia and New Zealand. Generally speaking if its pretty obvious it fits in their size check box, they wont hassle you, so if you were carrying a laptop and an Anker power bank and those heavy but relatively small batteries were throwing you over the limit, you would PROBABLY get away with it .. since you cant exactly stick that battery in a checked bags. Dont ever underestimate the tendencies for someone to be a low paid Nazi when they can be a low paid Nazi and flex a little power.
@Electrichead64 hah so true thanks for the reply, helps me to understand how things work, so inexperienced with traveling, it's nice to know that they aren't always so strict, but I'll prepare myself if they ever are
yes Smart Girl Philippines there are lot of stores that are similar to stores in are own country but the one thing you left out and did not say is in all those store you will run into that item is out of stock all the time so its not the same as it is in are countries at all. like int he usa you rarely ever hear some one say that item is out of stock so in this way the philippines is kind of like in the jumgle for things being out of stock. or they just do not even carry that type of item at all.
Before I travel to the Philippines in October 2024, I'll have $1000 USD changed to Small Bills at a Currency Exchange in the US before I leave. Wise has an ATM with very good Exchange Rates.
Are you talking about changing $1000 to small php bills in the US? If so, you will have a huge pile of cash. Imo it's better to take ten new $100 bills, and exchange them here. They charge a higher percentage to exchange smaller US bills. Personally, I take $1000 as back up only, and try to rely on ATMs while I'm in the Philippines. There are ATMs at the airport, as well as exchange booths.
@@rayflaherty3441 I'll have a Thousand USD, changed to PHP is the US. I'll get a Mix of Small & Large Bills. I'll use ATMs in the Malls & Banks to replenish. PNB has a US Location near my Brother's place. I'll see about getting an Account this August.
Very nice vid! In Europe electricity is 220V so no need to buy! I wonder how these tips work for europeans, like credit cards, phone plans and ATM cards?
It's cheaper to send yourself money from your bank from remitly teansaction than atm. You can pick up cash many places. Another thing I Don,t agree with saying use atm. It's more expensive and limited transactions
You can extend your visa easily on the Philippines immigration website. No need for a travel agent. Took about 12 hours and they emailed me my extension confirmation. Also don't go to Manila go to Cebu and surrounding islands.
i've heard of wrinkled 100 dollar bills being rejected in your country. in the US you can ball one up, chew on it and toss it at a teller and it's the exact same as an unused crisp bill: 100 dollars.
Phones that don’t have physical sim slots anymore - if you need an eSIM buy in advance online and set up first. Don’t try to go to a local store in PI to buy one there. We just learned the hard way that they have a low inventory plus it requires a contract. You can still buy one online even if you’re already there. Way better than the telco’s international plan. The tip for crisp plus clean $100 bills is right on. Don’t even fold them. Agree with the don’t get angry or be rude to Filipino’s. There’s going to be situations where your patience will be tried, for sure. Just try and hold yourself in and force a smile. Your status will improve and you won’t cause anyone else to have lower theirs. I’m going to disagree on the travel direct on PAL. I hate PAL. We hate PAL. We try and only travel Eva air and they are wonderful. We barely spend 3 hours in the airport in Taiwan. Their planes are comfortable. Service is prompt, with a smile and always efficient. And it’s about 50% cheaper than PAL. Plus the last time we flew PAL they stopped in S. Korea on the way back for a last minute scheduled 90 minute stop where we stayed on the plane. This was added the evening before our flight. Were we given any credit from them turning our flight from a non-stop flight to one with a stop and hours added? Ha. Course not. 😢
If I find a beautiful Filipina girlfriend I have a strong feeling that Mrs. Rick will be quite unhappy with me. The problem with flying out of Los Angeles airport is ~getting~ to LAX. People overseas just don't realize how big America is. From Chicago O'hare (which is an hour drive away) it takes 17-19 total hours to get to Manila. From Chicago O'Hare to LA to Manila it still takes at least 17-19 hours to get to Manila, plus I can only bring one suitcase instead of two.
This girl is really cute! She will be very beautiful when she grows up! In agreement with #27 for sure. Philippine people are very respectful, so don't take your American attitude with you!
#14 metered taxis are not allowed at NAIA! That's the rip-off! They only have unmarked taxis at the airport n will try to charge $1500 pesos to take you into Manila! a Taxi would be maybe $500 Ph. So, yeah if you're gonna stay in Manila (I just stay one night) use a place that has a shuttle. Selah Gardens in Paranaque has a shuttle ($600 Ph) n ANIS Transport will bring a rental car straight to your hotel!
Philipine air is more expensive and always late I can save over $1000 on one hour and half stop over rather than direct. Don,t agree with you there done it many times.

No.14 can get a grab taxi from the airport.Cheaper.
That used to be possible, but I don't think you can anymore. I just take a public taxi, and insist that they use the meter.

Take a metered taxi from the airport? Why not use a grab taxi? Any fee free ATMs?
I doubt it. Have read that opening a Schwab account is best for travel, as they reimburse the ATM fees.
