Mistakes are SO important, thats how we learn! Learning how to recover from mistakes makes an artist. And since I rather live in a world where nothing is perfect, I leave minor mistakes in my pieces, especially knittings, to underline its handmadeness. That has its own life now, the receivers search for these mistakes for days :)
Happy crafting! I love how you said “ I think I can remember how to make a bow, I don’t know guys this might be a little painful” lol. It’s always great to listen to you while crafting I have missed it.
Thanks Lindsay. I’ve never made a card before, so I appreciated you going through everything step by step, and also showing how to fix any ‘oops’ moments! 👍🏻
I’m so glad you walked us through the entire process. I find it very helpful to see all the tips on working through the details, even if it takes a little more time and effort. I thought you made a good choice to change the color of the embossed greeting, for instance, and wonky bows seem to be my specialty, so I know I just need to fiddle with them a little more. This is a gorgeous card. Anyone should feel very special to receive it!
I need to start my Christmas cards! This turned out beautifully! I laughed when you brought out the "never ending supply" of the foam supply. If you ever do run out of them, you'll either have a moment of silence in mourning, or do the "dance of joy" in glee, lol!
That's so funny you mentioned company. My husband just said, why are you watching a card video while painting? I said, for company while I paint. Also, get creative group think. Me and metallics just don't get along so this was very helpful. TFS.
Hullo Lindsay! It is always a joy to watch a master card maker at work! I have no current plans to make cards of my own, but to watch you gives so many options for future cards Thank you!
Beautiful card! Loved seeing a card making video from you, and learned a few things with the tips you provided throughout the video lesson. I am definitely going to try using the metallic pencils and paints in some cards this year for Christmas. Thank you for posting another great video lesson for us.
Lovely Lindsay. I made a Christmas card while I watched and listened to you. Hope your week is better than last week. Empty nests can be good too. You’ve given them skills and it’s time. Loved your pictures on Instagram of you and your family.
Loved, "it is really difficult to do this on camera." I wholeheartedly agree! I have that same little paper trimmer! I think I got it about 25 years ago. lol Love the Silver pen on the berries too! Gorgeous card!
Hehehehe I love you fixing the “E”s in the card…. It’s totally a “cross stitch” type lettering but super cute anyway! Love this card idea. Thank you…. I’ve hated my embossing folders because I don’t have snazzy machine…. But I saw your video for a rolling pin and water….. like duh!!! Can’t wait to give it a real try again.
I was thinking about all of the different ornament dies I have while you were making this card. I think metallic highlighted embossing on a dark colored card stock would make for fabulous ornaments. Changing the size of the embossed image so it was an appropriate proportion to a smaller piece would also make fantastic earrings. Thanks for sharing this technique. I actually didn’t know that I could use pencils & crayons to color embossed paper without crushing the embossed paper.
Lindsay, do you have suggestions or a video on making specifically a watercolor paper sketchbook/notebook? I hope you’re hangin’ in there after the drop-off trip to college. Moral support!
Great video I love the card I always wait til late to start my holiday cards. But I may get my stuff together and start early. When you used the gold ink pad to stamp sentiment did you use gold or clear embossing powder over to heat up. It was off camera so I just wanted to check. Thanks
What a fun video! I love how you made the embossed paper come to life! Also- this sparks a question for me- have you ever used shimmery water colors? And do they end up gunking up your brush?
How did you know?! I did just need a little company while I was trimming paper for fall cards! And a cat on my lap…plus I love working with metallics, especially embossing…so, thanks 🙏🏻
you are so awsome ive been looking on amazon for rubber stamps with my favorite words its real hard to find ,so ive decided im going to have to learn to use my elegant writers to teach myself to write words ,i love the words dream ,create inspire, imagine ,i do have tiny stamps with these but for my art journals i want them bigger ,any ideas ?
Do we think you've "lost your mind"? That implies we thought you had it before this ;) (also, yes, the cardboard-as-dimension makes total sense) That glue roller thingy--is that like double-sided tape? and have you had issues with the oils (or whatever) in that glue--or in double-sided-tape--leaking through to the other side?
I will never make cards. I can’t even get the ones I buy sent, but I enjoy watching you do it!

Thanks, Lindsay! It's so nice to watch you papercraft again!! Made perfect sense to me.
Thanks!

Lindsay, I love this card! I have the Dewent metallic pencils and watercolors but didn't know how to use them. I am so happy you showed us this card!

Beautiful 😍 I have gold and copper gilding wax that I think would work for this 😁

Thank you for a card project I could probably do! I’m not artistic but I love to try to make cards ❤️
I started my Christmas crafting this past weekend so this will help with my card marking. I never thought to use my metallic pencils and watercolors!
I don’t have any metallic items, but I will be on the lookout for some now. Beautiful cards.
Thanks!
I have a folder similar to yours that I'm going to try this on. Beautiful card!
I have metallic pencils and paint NEVER use them. I’ve bookmarked this video for reference. Thanks. 🎨
Lindsay you are to crafting art as Julia Child to French food. You make it accessible, understandable, and ultimately, doable. Thank you so much
Aww:) thank so much!
Christmas card? In August! I’m horrified... lol
😆
Lindsay, do you have suggestions or a video on making specifically a watercolor paper sketchbook/notebook? I hope you’re hangin’ in there after the drop-off trip to college. Moral support!
one down and one to go! I'm doing OK:) I have made a few journals but I'm no expert. I'd recommend Sea Lemon's tutorials for sure.
Cotman just came out with a set of 8 metallic paints.
I might check those out.
I am in the Mood for Metallics! Now I just have to buy some metallic watercolors or metallic pencils or both?!!!
Great video I love the card I always wait til late to start my holiday cards. But I may get my stuff together and start early. When you used the gold ink pad to stamp sentiment did you use gold or clear embossing powder over to heat up. It was off camera so I just wanted to check. Thanks
Encore is the brand. Im not sure if they are still in business. I've had it for ages!
What a fun video! I love how you made the embossed paper come to life! Also- this sparks a question for me- have you ever used shimmery water colors? And do they end up gunking up your brush?
I've never had a problem with them. I like them for accents.
@@thefrugalcrafter good to know- now I may need to splurge on some shimmers and metallics! Thank you so much!
I still have two packages of metallic rub-on!!
How did you know?! I did just need a little company while I was trimming paper for fall cards! And a cat on my lap…plus I love working with metallics, especially embossing…so, thanks 🙏🏻
Awww:)

If you have a printer you can type it out in a font you like and print it.
Do we think you've "lost your mind"? That implies we thought you had it before this ;) (also, yes, the cardboard-as-dimension makes total sense)
That glue roller thingy--is that like double-sided tape? and have you had issues with the oils (or whatever) in that glue--or in double-sided-tape--leaking through to the other side?
No Ive never had that with this but this tool is orginally menat for picture framers so I don't think that would ever happen.
What is a good sharpener for prismacolor? I am forever breaking leads.
Any electric one
Love the ideas and the card. Can you use Gamsol with the metallic pencils?🤗
That should work. Haven't tried it tho.
Do you have a video on how to take mica powder paint?
Yes, I just posted one last friday!
what kind of mechanical sharpener do you use ?
I have a Jarlink, and a couple others. They are all about the same I think
Christmas? yall are Way Too Organized
I had to make this for a holiday catalog and it was due July 15 (otherwise I would not be organized 😆)
@@thefrugalcrafter Ah deadlines! The great motivator!! 🙂
