So I have decided to split it down to oil change in this video and yet to come will be the fuel and air filters. Stay tuned for that!
There’s a few points in this video that if not done with reasonable care or skill could cause damage to the vehicle and injury to your self or other present so it’s super important that you know
1) if damage or injury is caused/ sustained it’s your own fault this is just a video, it has no affect on your actions you control them yourselves.

American mechanic here, visiting Scotland and just helped a friend with an oil change on a 2015 C4 Cactus. Found your video when looking up filter and oil. Not sure which engines this applies to but I figured I'd mention that the 1.2l PureTech uses a standard spin-on canister underneath the car next to the drain plug, as opposed to the modern top-side cartridge style filter.
Before you drain the oil, make sure to have a filter wrench/strap or check to see if the filter is loose enough to remove by hand. I can normally get filters off without tools but the last person to service this vehicle overtightened this one and it's in an awkward place making it hard to get a good enough grip to loosen it. I had to punch it with a screwdriver to get it loose but that was the only snag.
Glad you included the bit about making sure to loosen the filter before replacing the plug, many people don't realize that it will release more oil after it's cracked loose. This only applies to cartridge filters but, out of pure habit, I still like to pull the filter before replacing the plug.
Requires roughly 3.3L for oil change, plug should be an 8mm (5/16") Allen/hex key but you can buy an aftermarket bolt that uses a standard 6 point head, though if you do I'd spend the extra to get a magnetic one. Also, if you're planning on doing routine oil changes yourself, you're better off buying a pack of crush washers as it's generally cheaper than replacing the whole bolt each time.
Aside from that, make sure that the seal comes off the car with the old canister because if not it likely means it's stuck under the car and will cause a leak if you try to put the new one on. Same goes when replacing the washer, make sure the old one isn't stuck to the pan or the bolt when changing it. Also make sure to take a dab of oil on your finger and rub it on the new seal before installing the new filter. Lastly, DO NOT use tools when installing spin-on canisters, hand tighten only. Tools can be used to loosen the filter but you can ruin the threads if you use tools to tighten it. The drain plug should be snug, not torqued, as it can strip the threads also. Luckily never happened to me but, in my experience as a lube tech and mechanic, I've seen all of this happen countless times.
After your oil change start the car and wait a few seconds for the RPMs to drop (may take longer to "idle down" if the car is cold), then rev the car a couple times to check for leaks. Shut the car off, check the level again, and if no leaks you should be good to go. Hope this helps anyone with a 1.2L looking for a tutorial. Great video 👍
Thanks man! Yeah the 1.2 puretech is a petrol engine and this one is the 1.6dv6 diesel engine. To totally different engines….. as you found out 😂😂

@@EllsAutoCare I realized after opening the video 😅 Though my experience is primarily with gasoline/petrol engines and drive line components (steering, suspension, brakes, axles, hubs, etc). I was mainly checking to see if you included the bolt size so I could be lazy and not have to lift the car first haha, but after it loaded I realized I wasn't going to find the info I was looking for so I scrolled through the comments and decided to include what I knew from this C4 since information isn't as widely available on cars here as it is in America. The great thing about doing an oil change is it's pretty much the same procedure on everything whether it's gasoline/petrol or diesel so you're good as long as you can find the filter and drain, and know how to replace both types of filter. There are some exceptions such as filters that need to be primed/filled first, cars without filters, or filters that require specialized cups to replace. As a lube tech, I serviced some Subaru's that I swear were engineered by Satan himself. Not only was there a pentagram on the rear differential cover, the exhaust system was shaped like a demonic hand and arm making a 👌 sign with the oil filter recessed and surrounded by the hot exhaust. It was impossible to get your hands in there without getting burned and we didn't have the luxury of time to let it cool before servicing 😅 Keep making videos, it's good to share information and educate people who are willing to learn. I was surprised to learn how uncommon it was for people to fix their own vehicles here, as well as the poor quality and availability, and high price, of tools as opposed to where I grew up. Any tip if the oil filter seal doesnt fit the casing? I could only install without seal. It was my first time changing the oil and from the last time it was changed, it looks like the mechanic had to do the same thing...

You should put the oilfilter in the engine frist. The little notch nede to be pushed in, inside the engine.

You did a good job mate what I would have done is open the oil cap first and then drain the oil and put a new sump plug in and then I would have change the oil filter and filled up the oil but your way was basically the same just different way around
Hey Kyle. The filters can hold on to oil. So I like to at least lose the housing and let the oil drain from it, before refitting the the sump plug. Just to maximise the amount of old oil I get out. Its just the way I was trained to do it
