simple way to remember : back of the fan (exhaust) (air blowing out) , front of the fan (intake) (air blowing in) . The front of the fan should usually have a logo. Also fans mounted on the front of the case should always be intakes, fans mounted on the rear and on top of the case should always be exhaust.
The top is not always exhaust fans..... sheesh you’ll have negative pressure, which in some cases (cases lol) is a good thing, however my pc I have equal intake and exhaust
Best video i've found so far on RUclips. No stupid background music, not too technical, and just the right amount of information/details on how to determine airflow direction. Thank you!
Thank you so much, most pc builders assume you already know this but i was so confused which direction was intake and exhaust. This video helpoed me understand
I think it's important to think of it in terms of what the fan blades are doing. People might get confused that the sweeping curve (convex) rotates into the air in a sweeping motion, when in reality it's the concave side of the blades that rotate into the air in order to "scoop" the air and pull the air through.
Short and to-the-point. Great video. Also, despite what was mentioned in a previous comment, not all logos are on the intake. My fan that prompted visiting this video is at least one exception.
Thanks for the help. I'm building a PC with an AIO cooler and needed to know if I'm pushing or pulling air through it BEFORE I assemble everything and hit the power button and possibly have to flip the fans and rerun the wires. Thanks again for taking the time.
You are awesome man... Short videos... to the point... non of that usual waffle on for ten minutes about nothing like most video (unless they're indian... those are short n on point too)... but with you there is the much appreciated added bonus of useful descriptive function. Thanks man.... I reckon I'm going to be watching ALL your vids till I've absorbed them all. Chur and Happy New Year from Alley Kat (New Zealand). :)
Straight to the point. I love it. I’m new to ur channel and will sub right after typing this out. I’ve seen sooooo many other pc tip youtubers who legit talks nonsense and doesn’t get straight to the point, i am new to pc gaming and only had mine since November 2020. I just bought me some silent wings 3 fans and am installing em as i speak, i just wasn’t sure what side it should go. Thx man keep it up
@@hypernova-brawlstars4577 not sure I understand your question.... It just depends where on your computer tower you place and orientate fans to work as intake or exhaust... Normally the airflow goes through the front of the computer and out the back... Is this what you mean??
Thanks for taking the time to watch my video, means a lot to me! For all of you who want to build your own GAMING PC, I've created a tutorial on how to build your own and install Windows 10. A step-by-step guide on how to build a Ryzen gaming computer - ruclips.net/video/55a6GZ-l3Ek/видео.html
@@ScottsPC Because I couldn’t understand it at first because I didn’t know what direction (was confused a bit) but now I get it, thanks man I saved this video on my PC Tips so that I’ll get more experience and educated
I think this explains why my fans were going crazy. I bought a pre-built computer and the top fans were had a dust filter on it. I guess that's unnecessary, right? I removed the top filter an the PC is running much quieter now.
my fans set up are 3 in the front 2 on top 1 in the back i thought that the 2 on the top and 1 at the back were exhaust but it turns out i have 6 intake fans, thanks

x for "x"haust. that's the easiest eay to remember
That’s how I remember exchange
X evokes me movies. 😯
Do I look at the outside or the inside
@@natedagreat6704 each fan has an arrow that indicates flow
connect it to test😎
or the dust inside my pc !!!
yes that's correct, but i remember my x's😂😂

Also fans mounted on the front of the case should always be intakes, fans mounted on the rear and on top of the case should always be exhaust.
Thats how I remember as well. Factory always tries to put their 'fancy' logo on place where you can see it. That is indeed the front
So if you have an aio on the top of the case you want the fans to have the logo?
@@nightwing100T ye
So basically the exhaust fans should be upside down (logo facing upwards) for top and rear same applies (logo facing outside the case)
This correct?
The top is not always exhaust fans..... sheesh you’ll have negative pressure, which in some cases (cases lol) is a good thing, however my pc I have equal intake and exhaust
Thanks man.. that "x" for exhaust helps a lot.
Scott my man, thank you so much for educating me on how to properly put on the fans, god bless
Glad the video helped! ⚡️ Good luck to you! ⚡️
I love how the thumbnail has the answer. No bullshit, just answeres. Love it.
To the point! Grill side blows air at you when facing it... can't believe how long it took me to figure this out.
Yes...if you don't know....you don't know...computer fans work the opposite of a traditional house fan...thanks for the comment!
I build my pc.. This is the most simple and yet straight forwad. X for exhaust...amazing
Thank you! May you pc build be AWESOME!!!
You explained this imba way that my 5 year old would know which way the air flows. Masterfully done. Thank you!
Best video i've found so far on RUclips. No stupid background music, not too technical, and just the right amount of information/details on how to determine airflow direction. Thank you!
Thank you. I just bought a pre-built and the fans in the front were set to exhaust. This helped me know the correct way to switch them around.
