2016-2020 Kia Optima HPS Short Ram Intake Install

  • A how-to video of sorts for all of you who want to install an aftermarket intake on your 2016-2020 Kia Optima with the Theta II 2.4L engine. Hope this helps! #HPS #SRI #Kia #Optima #K5 #KDM #racecar
    After installing said intake, I felt a decent difference in throttle response but nothing crazy. I used the good old butt dyno method so whatever “gains” I got I’ll never know since all that Kia power drove me and the car right into a tree a few months later. Happy modding!

    Gets better 0 to 60 times and fuel milage. That is what it does. Probably boosts torque more than HP but it is very noticeable when sucking enough air. Won't get your doors blown off by an old dude in a farm truck anymore.

      Unfortunately the Optima was totaled last year 👀 but I have a new project now that is coming along. I definitely did notice a difference with the intake; it wasn’t anything major but it was a difference in performance.

    I had a 2020 kia optima turbo with a K&N COLD AIR INTAKE but from My 2015 challenger R/T and that shit gave me the full potential of hp my kia after that on dyno with tune was at 256 hp but at the end I did full bolt on and made that kia a 405 hp beastand the sound of the cold air i take with headers that sounds was the best sounding car I have so far cause I don't have that car no more I have a 2006 chrysler 300c srt8 6.1 liter and just bought a nissan sentra 2020 turbo and guess I still have that K&N and now it's in the sentra lmfaoo 😂😂😂😂 just realized that I have that cold air intake for 5 to 10 years but I had the maintenance 110% good with it I sprayed when needed too etc every thing that you do for a intake when it's running low to make it back yo full potential again but I've noticed in the kia and now sentea the intake will knock the hoses off the metal zip ties cause of the heavy flow of cool air but I always end up beating a Benz or a BMW and shock the mafuckahthat I've raced no lie shit is funny ask but at that point it depends on the driver and not the build cause I feel like with my kia I shouldn't have mopped any amgs or m series cars but I was and they were surprised as much as me and after every race at that time I would have to pull over and put a new metal zip tie on and it will last me about 2 months until I had to exchange it again

    • @TheNemesisCoupe
      @TheNemesisCoupe  3 года назад +1

      @dopex2xdeath Fair enough man, honestly, it depends on how the intake is made, the design and how airflow travels through it, the diameter of the tube, the quality. There are a lot of factors that go into it. I’ve never had a problem with HPS and I’ll most likely stick with em for a while with all my cars.

      Make sure you get one specific for your year. The 2.4L engines had some changes between 2015 and 2016 going forward. I wouldn’t recommend changing the spark plugs unless your engine actually needs it mileage-wise. And I personally wouldn’t use a thicker oil unless it’s in the summer or is recommended by Kia specifically.

    • @roguetune03
      @roguetune03 5 лет назад

      Dude you're way overthinking this. Its a naturally aspirated 2.4L 4cyl. You'd never need to worry about having to get a step hotter or a step colder plugs..nor will a bolt on intake tube create a need for a thicker oil film over the moving parts to prevent it being blown off or mechanically overcome. Those are both things to consider with higher psi turbo engines and that's well beyond what this engine is capable of. All good, bolt it on and enjoy the noises. Very little performance gain for the money but satisfying anyway.

      N Garci I had it on for about 5 months, no problems, no check engine light and the car ran better tbh. It would’ve been even better to get it tuned but I never got the chance. I’m having an issue with the intake on my 15 Civic Si due to the mass airflow sensor going crazy over the amount of air that’s now going into the engine which in turn is throwing a check engine light. I just got a Hondata Flashpro for it so I can tune the car so it accepts the new intake. It just depends on the car and how sensitive it is to whatever you’re installing on it. My Optima, no problems whatsoever; my Honda, needs a tune.

      The Nemesis Coupe interesting... so I’m sure I would go to a performance shop to get it tuned but what would that tune up job be called..?

      Yeah, you’d have to go to a tuning shop and ask them to dyno tune the car to run with whatever supporting mods you have done to it. If you have an intake and exhaust done then ask them to dyno tune it for specifically those mods.

      @@TheNemesisCoupe lol!! Ok cool, dont know why I was hearing a new England accent lol I'm shot lol. Ok good video guy, im probably just gonna go with a K@N Air filter for $70 bucks. Probably get the same sound and power as the intake system lol.

      You definitely were hearing the accent lol I usually do that just for shits and giggles. Thanks, I really appreciate it and I thought about doing that too but I really wanted the intake noise. 😂
