As a Naturopathic Dr who focuses on women’s health and hormones I really appreciate this topic! I also highly suggest any women struggling with this to get your hormones tested just to make sure you are following the right recommendations for you! But this is so helpful and important 💚

Yes-I know I need to get my hormones tested. I was diagnosed 20+ yrs ago with pcos. They put me on spironlactone for acne/excess hair growth. Didn’t do anything. Suggestions on how to go about getting hormones tested would be much appreciated! Thank you for sharing!!! 💗

I am so happy to see an influencer talking about this!! Thank you for starting the conversation about being your own advocate for your body and informed consent when it comes to birth control. It can be a great resource for some, but there are so many things it can do to our bodies that we aren’t told! I am on the journey with you… unfortunately birth control has hindered my ability to conceive and has caused me to have PCOS and irregular periods, but through similar steps like you’ve taken I’ve seen such great improvement. One of the things I was most surprised by was dairy. Dairy can be such a supportive thing for minerals and so much more. The ultra processed dairy we have today is the source of why our bodies can’t handles lactose. Look into pro-metabolic eating, it’s super interesting! Wishing you good luck on your healing journey 💗💗💗

great video Alex, love the sit down , chill and chat vibe, and love the information . I agree and think its so good when we can become more introspective , listen to our bodies, seek out educational information and see how and if we need to apply it to our lives as we all go through different stages as we mature and age. love the 80/20 rule be smart and deliberate with choices but also enjoy this life we have been given so that we can feel as good as we possibly can

Loved this video Alex. Your journey sounds so similar to mine, I’m 34. I’ve already adopted much of what you’ve mentioned and am slowly but surely seeing results. I especially resonated with the anxiety changes. I went from being an active energetic person, traveled the world, etc to someone who barely likes going out to eat and doesn’t like being home alone for no reason other than my hormones and body/brain feel so out of whack. It’s hard to explain how different you feel compared to your baseline to people who don’t understand :) I think many of us women who are 30+ are on such a similar journey figuring this out!

I loved this. Thank you for sharing. I was put on birth control in high school and was on and off for 10 years. I am a huge believer that it affected my life my moods and fertility once I got off of it. It’s such a topic that I wish I knew more about… as we grow and learn it’s so helpful to know we are all trying to figure it all out and regulate our hormones and just at least be aware of our cycle and what our bodies do as women every month. 💕💕💕

Alex, this is one of the best videos you've made. You were so authentic and sincere. While I don't deal with the same hormonal issues you are dealing with, your candor and openness will be so helpful to people that relate to your hormonal struggles. Women accept bad periods and other side effects as a "normal" part of being a woman. i think what you're doing is great. You're figuring out what works for you. Maybe this will help others but more importantly, you've opened up a personal side of your life. Better than exploiting your kids (as many do) for clicks & likes. GREAT VIDEO!

As women we need to allow ourselves a lot of grace. We go through so much mentally, emotionally, and physically that is connected more than we even realize. That doesn't make us weak or incompetent or incapable it just makes us women. The more we know how everything is connected the better equipped we are to look for ways to help ourselves out.

Thankyou for making this video! I suffered with severe, cystic acne in my early 20’a. I tried everything for almost 2 years (naturopath, medications, skin care etc) until I reluctantly took roaccutane for 10 months and cleared my acne. I knew it was hormonal but all doctors said “everything was fine”. I never took the pill/ any birth control at all until last year when I was told I had suspected endometriosis after over 10 years of symptoms but being told “everything was fine”. I took it for 3 months to “manage symptoms” but had more side effects until my surgery to diagnose endometriosis last year. I am now 2 weeks post second endometriosis surgery and I still can’t see myself using birth control, though I know it works so well for some people I just prefer how much more attuned I am to my body and it’s changes without being on birth control. I wish this topic of natural family planning/ natural pregnancy prevention was also disused more in schools as well as the side effects of birth control, hormones etc too

Yes, I’ve also been on a journey of going non-toxic! It’s so crazy because I never even thought twice about what I was putting on my body, or in my body. Having kids helped fuel that desire, I started looking into clean non-toxic products for their skin, and a huge one for me was vaccines! I never thought about them, but once I went down the rabbit hole researching ingredients, adjuvants, there’s no way. Now we’ve switched over our laundry detergent and household cleaners, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, deodorants, toothpaste, lotions, body wash & lotion. There’s still more I’m wanting to find cleaner products, but I feel like the basics of laundry products, cleaning products and dish detergent is huge! It’s things we use and touch everyday! Always a journey!

It’s going to need different things, again, so don’t get discouraged when whatever ur doing now works then all of a sudden it’s not. It just means u must adjust as ur body changes. And remember climate is a factor, as well. Ur in Florida now, skin and hair drys out more, so u have to adjust hair and skin regiments. Crazy the things we women must go thru. A never ending cycle. I definitely recommend seeing a therapist or psychologist, as sometimes stress and emotions can build up over time and cause this overflow of anxiety into daily life. Even if you dont think it will be worth it, I encourage everyone to just try it for a few sessions if anxiety is disrupting your routine.

I am so glad you’re bringing light to this !! I noticed a huge difference after my first pregnancy - I got BC as soon as I had my daughter and just remember I was so depressed and not in a great spot mentally. I decided to stop the birth control after my last two kids because postpartum is already difficult. As long as you really track your cycle you can still note what days to be careful to avoid pregnancy

I appreciate this info. We as women have to lean on each other.

Good info because the earlier you start with hormone health, its easier to reverse the damage and stop your hormones from getting to low levels. yes, hormones health is very important not to ignore. Also, hormone replacement for women is something that has been swept under the rug in main stream medicine for years.
Alex, glad you are feeling better & doing your research. Now that you are getting older and it makes sense to be happy for yourself and kids.

In your 30s, your body will change drastically. My hormones change every 2 years or so. I'm 36 years old now and in my 20s, I had no hormonal roller coaster but the second that I hit my 30s, it's been a very awakening journey. You must track your menstrual cycle to be aware of what phase you're in

I have been taking that same beef liver supplement along with their beef tallow and collagen and my energy levels are really good but I don't take the full 6 liver capsules as the bottle suggests or I notice I am wide awake at night and begin feeling very anxious so I only take 2 a day. I hope you begin feeling 100%

yes raw liver is the most nutrisious food you can eat. For me go more animal based and eat a lot of grass fed beef , butter and eggs is been a miracle for my hormonal balance

I was on birth control for about 15 years. I got off of it 4 years ago and it took AWHILE to re-balance and know my body again (at least a couple years). I got off because I had optic nerve swelling at a check up. Did some research and found out birth control can cause that. I also had very decreased sex drive on it (which I didn't realize), my personality was more dampened, like somewhat disconnected. Weight-gain. And of course high risk of clots which can be fatal (I got one in my leg). After getting off of it I felt reborn, alive again. I was more connected to myself, sex drive returned. BUT I did lose a TON of hair about 5 or 6 months after getting off, handfuls. I've tracked my cycle since then and always take it into account regarding my mood, appetite, energy level etc. It's been very helpful. Also, COVID has been shown to cause a lot of issues systemically (including neuron death & increased anxiety & depression symptoms) so it can be difficult to know what exactly was the cause of your symptoms. Please discuss these with your pcp & ob/gyn as well. -Mila RN 😊

wow, this incredible you just posted this Alex. I literally called this morning to make an obgyn appt to talk about my hormone imbalance and figure out if I should switch or get off the pill. ive been on it for over 10 years and now I have a one year old and feel lost. what do you use instead of taking the pill if you don't mind me asking? we are not ready for baby 2 yet hahah but I would LOVE to get off. but also TMI I don't want to use a condom? haha
