Squadron Leader Les Blackburn MBE, a Radar Navigator on Avro Vulcan Bombers based at RAF Scampton, reflects on the his role as part of the RAF's Quick Response Alert on an aircraft poised to launch a nuclear attack on the heart Soviet Union.

    That was fascinating. I knew the facts of the 'Navigators Story' as I was stationed at HQ Bomber Command 1966-68 and worked with the V-Force receiving position and simulated bombing reports etc. but it's fascinating to hear it first hand.

    A very well produced and thought provoking film. Thank God that the nuclear option never had to be used again, and hopefully it never will. I'm currently reading 'Hullo Russia, Goodbye England' by Derek Robinson, and this film adds a lot of perspective to that "MAD' Cold War period.
