I got komplete regular last year. I'm STILL discovering sounds. As a composer for library music it's infinitely useful. Gonna see if I can squeeze the funds to upgrade to ultimate but trust me, the regular is incredible as it is. I loved your example of using world instruments to create such an interesting sound from just two minor chords!

Does Battery operate outside of Kontakt? I can hear the drum samples when I click on them in Battery but how do I get that playing on my keyboard and into the DAW? Thanks!
Nice one. I started out with Select, but there's so much more in the Standard edition. The Discovery series stuff (Indian, Middle Eastern, Cuban) was a big part of it. Also, I agree with you that it's worth getting the full versions of Kontakt and Reaktor. The only problem is that now I can spend so much time just searching around, I'm making music less....
I really wish they would offer a subscription plan. Would you be willing to bring that up with them? Since you’re officially their new face? Most plans are $19-29 a month. I personally would pay $50 a month for ultimate. That’s $600 a year for 2 years
I’ll be tracking as well. Often sales in Winter. I did just realize (happily) that my owned Komplete 12 Select Full gives me a discount towards Komplete 13 Ultimate for what I paid for. So it’s easier for people to buy into the ecosystem and later upgrade without a loss of investment of money at least from Select to one of the other bundles.
I’ve had komplete standard for many years. Something to note is that periodically NI do crazy upgrade deals so you can go from 12 to 13 usually for £89 rather than the full price. They also do similar level upgrades so if you want to make the jump from standard to ultimate they take into account what you already have and you just pay for the additional content but still at a massively discounted price compared to buying the stand alone instrument.
Standard version is imo the best priced bundle. Allas, it will cost you a bit more, but combining the standard with some 3’rd party plugins, like Orange evolution series guitars, and Eg Albion One will be quite a notch up in quality sounds. The stradi violin is quite good, but the rest of NI’s orchestral sounds, even the Pro ones just doesn’t math up, if you want to make it sound real.

The reason I write to you is my mother is extremely unwell with post covid issues and last night she was serious. I saw a lot of your videos and somewhere in my soul it really calmed me down. I just bought Collector's Edition.. It's absolutely insane, I'd go as far as to say it's overwhelming how much stuff comes with it. SUCH a learning curve ahead, but just going through 15-20 different instruments today, they all sound amazing & very very usable in productions to say the least!

Thanks, great video Sanjay! The only ridiculous thing is how NI are showing things like "worth $100,000, now $1,000, so you save 99%!!! MUST PURCHASE". I understand companies using this sales tactic a bit, but they've gone way O.T.T. here.

Wow! If Omnisphere had someone like you demo-ing their multitudes of sounds as well as drums and keys instead of just synths and strings I might have erroneously jumped to that! I am so glad that I got Komplete 13!

I have the ultimate collector’s edition😍 love it♥️ Waiting for the 50% sale maybe on Black Friday, to upgrade my bundle to Komplete 13. I started from select, upgrading that to standard, then ultimate and finally collector’s edition. I guess buying a hardware first and upgrading the bundles in 50% sale is the best deal.🤗
I've got 12 UCE and I love it. Not decided if it's worth it to go to 13, or if I should just wait for 14. Not a LOT of new stuff from 12 to 13...but the new stuff that is there is nice...but it's $500 to upgrade. A bit steep.

As someone who learned his craft using cracked software, I told myself back then: if I am going to ask people to pay for my music, I need to put the money where the mouth is - so to speak - and pay for my tools. When I was ready to put my music out there for the public, I made sure everything I was using was legitimate.
As a 14 y.o kid I always felt guilty for using cracked software. But, then again... What else can I do? Bugging my parents to buy me a 100$ sample pack won't do me good in the long run. I just made a promise to myself to pay back all the softwares I use after I can pay them on my own. In the meantime, i used the chance to learn all the softwares i cracked... Tho, I'll try my best not to do it too much. Also, about freeware stuff: Tried it, been there. No thanks. Free synth is good though. -Addendum, viruses and such: I'm fairly careful when it comes to download links and at times where there are malwares in the crack i know some fancy hax to get rid of em. Ah yeah, add that to the list of why not to use cracked softwares. Don't ask why I know this.

Hi Sanjay! I own K12 Standard. My problem is I own every Expansion Pack there is and several instruments not given in this by itself. If I upgrade I’m not getting much extra except Butch Vig. I would like to have the new guitar rig 6 and some of the new instruments just recently added. Should I sell my expansions to use towards the upgrade? Otherwise I’m just stuck with a lot of what I already have. I think NI should give a buyback plan on expansions and instruments already purchased to buyers like me who are loyal to them when upgrading Komplete Suites. Anyway love you and your channel, keep it going as you are inspiring to me and many others!
It seems like part of their business model to make upgrades enticing, but fairly minimal in new content while still selling everything individually. It might be convenient for you, but I don't see why NI would do a buyback plan.
Most people skip a version while upgrading. I personally upgrade every time and don’t buy any expansion/instrument as and when they come. I think you should sell some expansions and upgrade as you will get most of those expansions back with the upgrade!
Do you mean Update to K13 Standard? You will get Butch Vig Drums, Super 8, Cuba, Modular Icons, Noire, Session Guitar Electric and Guitar Rig Pro 6. That's IMHO a good offer, even if you own all Expansion Packs but I would wait till the Thanksgiving special in a few Weeks.

I own Komplete 12 Ultimate now, I am going to upgrade to 13 Collectors Edition as soon as it goes on sale for me, probably sometime in December. The upgrade to Collectors is $599 regularly, but when it's on sale, it will be $299, so it's totally worth it at that point. It will be a Christmas gift to myself!
I have just bought Komplete standard and I'm watching different videos before I test drive. That last beat before the video ended is EPIC!!! I hope I have access to those drum sounds!
More and more I am really loving your channel! I relate to you in so many ways as far as what I want out of my studio, and you seem to review every single thing I potentially want to add to my studio. I can't thank you enough for all the content you create, the OBVIOUS hard work you put into each and every one of your videos, and the sheer passion for it all! I've been on the fence about either buying a new Roland Fantom, or trading my liking for "all-in-ones" and going with Ultimate Collector's Edition with an NI Komplete S88 MK2. Though I'd like to think NI has listened to its customers and will want to release an MK3, but with the addition of knobs and sliders with all that real estate the MK2 has..
@ Sanjay C Im setting my music studio in 2021 and I'm buying a Mac computer with Logic Pro X. So, these KOMPLETE 13 plugins does work in Logic too? I want them so badly! I am a intermediate, not a PRO musician. But I'm still learning it how we can get the best EQs, compressors, synths including my keyboard/MIDI controller as time passes by, and by the way this sounds GREAT by any standard! It's like if I use and set instruments from Logic + a Legacy synth + the NI KOMPLETE 13 plugins package and the best VST or DAW plugins = I am creating the FUTURE of MUSIC by myself, INCREDIBLE!

I thought I might want this, but you 110% convinced me. Native always has the best sounds, all the sounds are so full. Right now all I have is massive and just that is nuts.
There's a lot of brass samples out there. As a brass player when I heard that sforzando I got nostalgic. I think a lot of sound libraries don't know how to add expression to brass. Strings is very well-covered interms of articulation and tone, many sample creators probably don't know about the intracacies of how brass can respond.

Some questions I’d like to ask as a year beginner producer using Ableton Live 9 trying to learn some music theory.I’m learning to produce Afro beat at the moment but have tried lofi before which I like,but looking at some EDM and Tech house etc later.Using 2012 17 macbook ,16GB ram,1TB internal SSD.Had a play with Komplete start but find it limited.Which package would you recommend on a smallish to medium budget for learning to produce various genres? Which external SSD should I get? Using at old 7,200 rpm GTechnology drive that’s full now and a Novation remote 25 compact SL keyboard.Should I get a particular Komplete keyboard or what I got is sufficient?Lastly got a very small room with Adam F5 monitors and uss Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones.Should I get the 770 instead? Laptop gets quite hot ,though it’s got a recent new SSD.Would you recommend anything else if looking for a change Sorry to be so long.Any advice? 🙏

Great video, as usual. Wrestling with the justification for Komplete Kontrol 13 when Logic X came with 24 VSTs, 70 plugins and 72gb of samples? Is it easy of use? Are the sounds better quality? What if I don’t produce/compose with a Maschine?
Last year I got select & the expansion to standard. Today have gone to ultimate. Next year I’ll go collector’s edition. Maybe it will be Komplete 14 by then. Great video.
Great editions comparison, thanks for showing us the key differences between each of them! I’ve got NI Komplete 12 Ultimate Collector’s edition with a student discount in the summer. Is upgrading to V13 recommended? I know it has Guitar Rig 6 instead of 5, some additional new instruments... but are they worth the 500€ upgrade cost? I know a lot of people tend to skip a version or two between upgrades of NI bundles, but there are a number of additions in the new Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition that are proving to be tough for me to ignore... Specifically, the Guitar Rig 6 Pro updates, the Cremona Quartet instruments, and then all of the cinematic instruments... really, almost everything they've added, if I'm being honest. The upgrade price feels a bit steep though, especially being that I just picked up Komplete 12 UCE during their Summer of Sound upgrade sale a few months ago. I mean, when compared to buying all of the new pieces I want individually, it's still a great deal, of course... but I guess I'm just hesitating to drop another $500 when I still have loads of new NI content that I haven't spent a ton of time with yet -- so. many. Maschine. expansions... 😂 Anyhow, I'm just wondering what your take on this is. I think that, historically, they tend to put the full versions on sale on, or around, Black Friday, and then they run the Summer of Sound half-price upgrades sale mid year. Does that sound right to you? If so, do you think there's any real hope that there will be a less expensive upgrade path from 12 UCE to 13 UCE at any point between now and next summer? I'll gladly wait a month or so to save a few hundred bucks, but I sort of want to get my hands on this new kit sooner than 9-10 months from now. I'm still pretty new and am blown away by what was already included with my M32. I've got 12 UCE and I love it. Not decided if it's worth it to go to 13, or if I should just wait for 14. Not a LOT of new stuff from 12 to 13...but the new stuff that is there is nice...but it's $500 to upgrade. A bit steep.

First of all you're doing a great job. Can you make a video on why people shoud'nt use the crack versions of the vst's, daw's, ect.
That’s a great video idea. What are the reasons you think of?
As someone who learned his craft using cracked software, I told myself back then: if I am going to ask people to pay for my music, I need to put the money where the mouth is - so to speak - and pay for my tools. When I was ready to put my music out there for the public, I made sure everything I was using was legitimate.
As a 14 y.o kid I always felt guilty for using cracked software. But, then again... What else can I do? Bugging my parents to buy me a 100$ sample pack won't do me good in the long run.
I just made a promise to myself to pay back all the softwares I use after I can pay them on my own. In the meantime, i used the chance to learn all the softwares i cracked... Tho, I'll try my best not to do it too much.
Also, about freeware stuff:

I'm fairly careful when it comes to download links and at times where there are malwares in the crack i know some fancy hax to get rid of em.
Ah yeah, add that to the list of why not to use cracked softwares. Don't ask why I know this.

Hi Sanjay! I own K12 Standard. My problem is I own every Expansion Pack there is and several instruments not given in this by itself. If I upgrade I’m not getting much extra except Butch Vig. I would like to have the new guitar rig 6 and some of the new instruments just recently added. Should I sell my expansions to use towards the upgrade? Otherwise I’m just stuck with a lot of what I already have. I think NI should give a buyback plan on expansions and instruments already purchased to buyers like me who are loyal to them when upgrading Komplete Suites. Anyway love you and your channel, keep it going as you are inspiring to me and many others!
It seems like part of their business model to make upgrades enticing, but fairly minimal in new content while still selling everything individually.
It might be convenient for you, but I don't see why NI would do a buyback plan.
Most people skip a version while upgrading. I personally upgrade every time and don’t buy any expansion/instrument as and when they come.
I think you should sell some expansions and upgrade as you will get most of those expansions back with the upgrade!
Do you mean Update to K13 Standard? You will get Butch Vig Drums, Super 8, Cuba, Modular Icons, Noire, Session Guitar Electric and Guitar Rig Pro 6. That's IMHO a good offer, even if you own all Expansion Packs but I would wait till the Thanksgiving special in a few Weeks.

I own Komplete 12 Ultimate now, I am going to upgrade to 13 Collectors Edition as soon as it goes on sale for me, probably sometime in December. The upgrade to Collectors is $599 regularly, but when it's on sale, it will be $299, so it's totally worth it at that point. It will be a Christmas gift to myself!

I've been on the fence about either buying a new Roland Fantom, or trading my liking for "all-in-ones" and going with Ultimate Collector's Edition with an NI Komplete S88 MK2. Though I'd like to think NI has listened to its customers and will want to release an MK3, but with the addition of knobs and sliders with all that real estate the MK2 has..

Sanjay C Im setting my music studio in 2021 and I'm buying a Mac computer with Logic Pro X. So, these KOMPLETE 13 plugins does work in Logic too? I want them so badly! I am a intermediate, not a PRO musician. But I'm still learning it how we can get the best EQs, compressors, synths including my keyboard/MIDI controller as time passes by, and by the way this sounds GREAT by any standard! It's like if I use and set instruments from Logic + a Legacy synth + the NI KOMPLETE 13 plugins package and the best VST or DAW plugins = I am creating the FUTURE of MUSIC by myself, INCREDIBLE!

When you get the komplete 13 with a keyboard you buy, can you upgrade to the version you are recommending?
There's a lot of brass samples out there. As a brass player when I heard that sforzando I got nostalgic. I think a lot of sound libraries don't know how to add expression to brass. Strings is very well-covered interms of articulation and tone, many sample creators probably don't know about the intracacies of how brass can respond.

Some questions I’d like to ask as a year beginner producer using Ableton Live 9 trying to learn some music theory.I’m learning to produce Afro beat at the moment but have tried lofi before which I like,but looking at some EDM and Tech house etc later.Using 2012 17 macbook ,16GB ram,1TB internal SSD.Had a play with Komplete start but find it limited.Which package would you recommend on a smallish to medium budget for learning to produce various genres? Which external SSD should I get? Using at old 7,200 rpm GTechnology drive that’s full now and a Novation remote 25 compact SL keyboard.Should I get a particular Komplete keyboard or what I got is sufficient?Lastly got a very small room with Adam F5 monitors and uss Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones.Should I get the 770 instead? Laptop gets quite hot ,though it’s got a recent new SSD.Would you recommend anything else if looking for a change Sorry to be so long.Any advice? 🙏

Great video, as usual. Wrestling with the justification for Komplete Kontrol 13 when Logic X came with 24 VSTs, 70 plugins and 72gb of samples? Is it easy of use? Are the sounds better quality? What if I don’t produce/compose with a Maschine?
Hello Sanjay can you purchase the select version then upgrade to a better version. This option would be cheaper. I’m just not sure if it’s possible.

Last year I got select & the expansion to standard. Today have gone to ultimate. Next year I’ll go collector’s edition. Maybe it will be Komplete 14 by then. Great video.

I’ve got NI Komplete 12 Ultimate Collector’s edition with a student discount in the summer. Is upgrading to V13 recommended? I know it has Guitar Rig 6 instead of 5, some additional new instruments... but are they worth the 500€ upgrade cost?

I'm curious to know what you think about the value of upgrading from Komplete 12 Ultimate Collector's Edition to Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition... I know a lot of people tend to skip a version or two between upgrades of NI bundles, but there are a number of additions in the new Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition that are proving to be tough for me to ignore...
Specifically, the Guitar Rig 6 Pro updates, the Cremona Quartet instruments, and then all of the cinematic instruments... really, almost everything they've added, if I'm being honest.
The upgrade price feels a bit steep though, especially being that I just picked up Komplete 12 UCE during their Summer of Sound upgrade sale a few months ago. I mean, when compared to buying all of the new pieces I want individually, it's still a great deal, of course... but I guess I'm just hesitating to drop another $500 when I still have loads of new NI content that I haven't spent a ton of time with yet -- so. many. Maschine. expansions... 😂
Anyhow, I'm just wondering what your take on this is.
I think that, historically, they tend to put the full versions on sale on, or around, Black Friday, and then they run the Summer of Sound half-price upgrades sale mid year. Does that sound right to you? If so, do you think there's any real hope that there will be a less expensive upgrade path from 12 UCE to 13 UCE at any point between now and next summer?
I'll gladly wait a month or so to save a few hundred bucks, but I sort of want to get my hands on this new kit sooner than 9-10 months from now.
Well, regardless, this is all evidence of having much to be grateful for, as there are much worse problems to have than trying to figure out whether to pick up a NI bundle upgrade or not. 😂

Hi Sanjay, great video... however I have a stupid ? Ive been using MASCHINE 2 software that came with my MK3, it has a lot of samples and been creating some good tracks with it. My Question: What is the difference between Maschine 2 and KOMPLETE 13.... they are both Daws? right... What do I benefit from the more pricer one? Sorry to ask you on here, but NI don't have a email address to ask simple questions like this.,

You need "Action Strikes" and "Rise & Hit" and those are both included in Ultimate and Ultimate Collector's Edition.
I'm still pretty new and am blown away by what was already included with my M32. Am considering the Black Friday deal on Select and can always come back next year for Standard if need be -- it's cheaper to upgrade to Select then to Standard than it is to buy Standard outright so might as well take Select out on its own first and see.
