    I have a iFi Zen Blue connected to an old Denon av amplifier with Tannoy MX2 bookshelf speakers and a SVS SB1000 Pro subwoofer. I use the Sony LDAC codec on my Samsung mobile phone which the iFi switches to automatically. I stream from apple music lossless
    The sound quality is top notch. I'm pleasantly surprised at performance of hifi over bluetooth.

      Good for you, you dodged a bullet by not getting the HK. The HK WAS a good device back in the day as most Bluetooth devices back then sounded bad. However compared to modern devices, its like comparing a 78rpm Victrola record to a CD. I hope you enjoy the B2. Cheers

      I totally agree. The manufacturers completely drop the ball on specs on Bluetooth.
      In comparison let's say that you are looking for a new car.
      Salesperson: "It's got a V8"
      You: How big is it?
      Salesperson: I dunno
      You: Is it OHC or push rod?
      Salesperson: I dunno
      You: What compression does it have?
      Salesperson: I dunno
      You: How many miles to the gallon does it get?
      Salesperson: I dunno
      Aaaaaarrggghhh!
      Don't manufacturers of audio gear get that people want to know what the specs are? And yes, a codec is a "spec"!

    I bet just one of them slugs you have for you're Bird 43 cost more than any single device there. Nice video... Got a NEC projector I am using for outdoor events so I think I want to go wireless. Need a device that has 90 to 100dB (SNR) On the RCA line level. Range does not matter. Easy to obtain all the R.F. gain I need by building a pair helical antennas. Hell, maybe I will drag out an old pair of Marty STL TX/RX rack units. I can always use USB for left CH and LSB for right., LOL! Good separation... Boy they knew how to build great loud speakers and Amplifiers back in the 60s 70s but had no clue how to keep the gain structure up without dragging all that noise up in the mix. The old reel to reels and dragons at best were 78dB (STR) Now the cool thing is use the old mc-2100 McIntosh amps in mono block configuration with a pair of JBL L-222 Discos hooked up to a cd player that most will easily do 100 dB (SNR) and none of the new or old generation heard music this great because they do not build wonderful amps or speakers for the average consumer and the old cats never had a medium this high to work the good stuff... Gotta love the old junk. And it all still works providing one changes all the electrolytic caps out., HAHA, awesome job on the video...Very best wishes and 73,

      Yes the slugs are very spendy nowadays. The IfI ZEN has balanced outputs so that is the one I would use for sure, the great sound, range and removable antenna and the balanced out. Copy on the old school gear, I'm with you 100%. Thanks for your comment.

    I am yet to find someone who is willing to open these up and show off the various chips. OP Amps, XMOS, APTX, Decoding chips and what not. So many of these companies talk rubbish about what is actually in there. I find there are a lot of Chinese clones (very very very good ones) which offer the same chips in a similar layout to say £300-400 Bluetooth DACs at less that £120.

    I have the Bludento BLT 2 which was under £50 direct from China and I think it’s very good. Not quite up to CD or vinyl quality but still very musical and a steal for the money. You need to use better RCA interconnections than the ones provided to get the best out of it though. The only drawback is if someone else has been connected to it and I want to use it then they have to manually disconnect first. Looks like that problem has been fixed though with the ones that you are reviewing so maybe it’s time to buy the newer version but it’s almost 3 times the price of mine. Perhaps I should buy the iFi Zen which has great reviews and is built in the UK as far as I understand.

    I’ve been using the Audioengine B1 for several months and am absolutely blown away by the sound quality and convenience streaming from my iPad. Music is more enjoyable because I have millions of songs easily called up from my chair using Apple Music and Amazon music. Will the iFi unit sound noticeably better? would be nice if you can test the Frequency Response of each unit and compare sound

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Год назад +3

      I have some videos that show the difference between certain devices. Freq response is generally 10-20K and killer S/N ratios ( over 100dB ) and pre out level out is 2.0+ volts. I honestly don't give factory specs much consideration, I use my ears.
      Back in the day we had great sounding stereo receivers, great dynamic sound and real power (20-20K both ch driven) However manufacturers wanted to save money, made the stereo cheaper and disguised it as better specs. With distortion ratings like .001% THD, and bogus power ratings that are measured at 1000hZ and one ch driven. Great way to give a sense of more power and less distortion. However this not true hence the modern AV receiver sound:(
      Manufacturers liked cutting cost of each unit built, more profits!! and last but not least..... Shipping weights, yes it costs a lot to ship product from overseas. Crazy huh? Sorry for rambling on my friend.

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  5 месяцев назад

      Great question... I would try the 1MII and see what you think. This is how I would start... Hook uo your DAC to a RCA input to your amp or preamp/receiver, then hook your 1MII's OPT or COAX to the input of the DAC100. Now take the RCA out from the 1MII and plug that into another RCA input to your amp or preamp/receiver. Doing this will allow you to switch inputs on the amp/preamp/receiver and see what sounds best to you.
      If your no happy with the sound then I would maybe upgrade BT receiver like the BluMe PRO.
      IMHO... The best sounding BT receiver is the one that makes you happy. Cheers

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Год назад

      BT (Bluetooth) is radio, so understand radio signals have a hard time going through Sheetrock/brick walls so metal is going to be a real tough one. Since BT is on the same frequencies as WiFi you could get a bigger/higher gain antenna used for routers, But first you could try mounting the BT device up high on a shelf away from the wall, put the BT device near or in front a window, I would try different locations before spending money on antennas and coax. IMO I have seen "high gain" antennas that do not perform as advertised , it can be a crap shoot on their quality.
      Good thing is that your device has a SMA coax connector so it will allow you some flexibility for antenna add-ons if needed.

      The Denon is a nice receiver however it is old BT technology, BT 2.0 or 2.1 If I remember correctly. XLR outs are nice for someone using it in a PA or pro application.
      The audio quality of BT 5.0+ is superior compared to old BT generations. I buy most these devices with my own funds and did not want to spend money to "go back in time".
      Cheers

    The passcode of BluDento device is set to 0000 (four zero) by default. However we can set different passcode for every BluDento device in order to avoid strange connections.

      The iFi Zen V.2 and BluDento BLT-HD. In that order IMHO. You have a very nice receiver with tons of inputs, I would try your RCAs and optical inputs, see what sounds best to you. Very Cool! Cheers

    What do you need to make a radio Bluetooth and how do you do it

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Год назад +1

      Depends on the radio right? modern units may already AUX in puts. The older units from the 70-80s may be able to add BT receiver to them via internal mods and much easier. Hmmm that sounds like a fun project.

    can you please advise, how to get bluedento hd in standby mode? in my case it either blinks (pairing) or it is lit, when paired. thnx

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Год назад

      Yes, that is normal for the BLT-HD. Solid LED when paired, Blinking when nothing paired to it. Blinking is telling you the device is on and ready for use.

      @izoyt Год назад

      @@breakerbroke23 you mentioned in video, that goes in standby (i would read that as no lights at all etc) after not used/paired. so, this means jut blinking all the time?

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  Год назад +1

      @@izoyt Yes... That is standby for this device, some BT devices turn off lights and some do not. The BLT- HD blinks. If this bothers you then you have a few options.
      Cut power to it when you are done OR put something over the light.
      Like I said in the video, I plug my AC adapter to the switched 110v outlet on the back of my receiver, so when I shut down my stereo the BLT-HD shuts down as well.
      BTW... it is okay for these devices to stay on, will not hurt a thing.

    Don’t understand why use WiFi
    Or receive it , for what purpose.

    • @izoyt
      @izoyt Год назад +1

      it's not wifi device, it's direct (digital) audio transfer via bluetooth (5.0 which is big leap from previous versions). i do have both (other one is wifi streamer trinagle aio c), i prefer this one, mostly because of ease of use (you can basically connect any phone or tab and play music on some vintage wifi etc) and faster response time frome phone or tablet.
      but if you want best quality possible (playing flacs from your nas or hi-res streamed audio for example) with online streaming etc, than wifi/lan streamer is maybe better solution for you. but you will need some high range audio to really hear difference.

      Not using WiFi. We are using BLUETOOTH.
      Streaming via WiFi is a different method.
      I use BLUETOOTH for convenience, both for not being tethered to my stereo and my music files are on my phone, as well as YT and pandora.
