I think he was applauding for the people behind the scenes. He seems to give credit to all crew members in a production. So he gave a shout out to Sandy's hair, makeup and wardrobe people. Adorkable man!
It wasn't bad timing. That's Keanu. He was the only one on the stage with that kind of humor that know one else gets. She was making a joke that her hair and make up artists keep up the "illusion" of her being hot, and he jokingly agreed, by clapping, that it is an illusion and she's not that hot.
That was so sweet and funny. I love it.
I don't care if she's beautiful. I don't care if she's a talented actress. I don't care if she has a great set of pins. I care that she's a class act. She's handled things no one should have to deal with in public, and done it with style. That's why I like her so much. I don't know her, but she's the total package, in my book.

I have never seen an actor and actress (or any man and woman) have as much chemistry as these two have !! So beautiful together !! Hugh or Matthew don't hold a candle to Keanu !!!
