Good Video, looks you like AR speakers.me too, I own 3a , 2ax ,4x .and 302.That’s right, old AR speakers need recap and rewire ,clean pot connection may replaced . after that is magic sound.
The 12s are somewhat rare, 1977 one year only production. The gent I got these from was going to toss them in the city dump! Fabulous sounding for sure!
Thanks! Can’t go wrong with the king of soul! Still haven’t heard a set of 9s in person yet. Hopefully some day! Yeah, love the 12s! Thanks for checking out the video!
Hey, just wondering how you have the attenuation switches on these speakers set? Do you find them a bit bright with everything set to 0? And did you get the woofer refoamed with an ordinary kit or something funky?
Highs -3db, Mids 0db. I replaced with the correct surrounds for these woofers, which I got from Roy C., one of the co-authors of the AR-3a restoration guide on the csp site. They are amazing in person. Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers!
@@70GD hey, do you have a link to the restoration guide you're talking about? That setting for the highs is consistent with my experience so far, which is that they can be a bit overwhelming at 0.

Those AR-12's are sounding really nice, shocking amount of bass coming through RUclips compression. Very cool, great speakers. Cheers!
Thank you!
These have had a full recap and new surrounds on the woofers and mids. Rare one year wonders!
Cheers!
Those AR12s sound very musical with outstanding tight bass. I'd love to have them.

The highs are very crisp, but also my ears are a bit sensitive to high frequencies.
That sound is so warm and richness, wow!
Have You ever heard AR 40 connoiseur series?
I have not. Do you have a set, or are you looking to purchase a pair?
How do they compare to your lsts??
Sorry for the delayed response. The 12's go a bit deeper, highs a bit crisper, the LST-2s are much more dimensional, bass is satisfying for sure.
