I think the open box are just returns after a certain time but im not sure how best buy does open box items. I can tell yours has at least been turned on because its not suppoed to turn on until you plug it in
I did pickup for open box, and I believe you can inspect open box in store. Of course ask them first, but even if you're not able you're able to return item if it's not to your liking

I do believe it's worth getting an open box excellent condition, from what I can see the prices are constantly going down so you can always find good deals for them! And as long as your friend keeps it in a safe place I don't see any problems with her keeping it for you in the mean time.
Mine was a returned item that seemed to never been touched at a discounted price. I'm sure yours is brand new though, let me know what you think about it!

Yes it can, the reason I had it on the charge was because it told me to put it on charge while I was setting it up and it didn't want it to die just in case. Would have to do settings all over again which would suck. But yes you can plug without it being on charge.

Only if the Left Joystick was placed at the Bottom. Makes it harder to move (For me/ I’m a Ps Controller player not an Xbox controller guy)

I have yet to try that out, but I have already installed a 2tb internal ssd, so not a big concern for me at the time.
