There's no problem with urgent job estimation Squirrel. It's up to you to invest in a better engine so your truck can haul faster and make that 70mph to be there in time. I remember in the earlier SCS games there was even a hint somewhere that you shouldn't get those hot jobs in a cheap truck. They don't need to fix anything.
Your $1107 penalty for being late is $69 per MINUTE! That is why I use a ~500 hp engine; you cannot maintain your speed and on a long run it ended up costing you the cost of the upgrade. In fact, you said it yourself that you can barely maintain 60 mph with that little 370 hp mouse motor! Your drivers also have better trip times if they have 500hp engines too.
Don't trade in the Peterbilt-Assign it to a driver because you will loose A LOT on the trade in. Just keep saving until you can buy your KW W900L for cash. The payments get easier w 3x drivers and a full small garage.
Having a blast! Thanks Paul!
HeavyHauler1USA
I just noticed that when you change light modes, the switch on the dash actually moves -- WOW what detail!!
ikt
+Jim Jasutis Your're easily pleased Jim :)
+Jim Jasutis Did you know on the W900 the dial even shows how much weight you got on the rear axles, and changes with each load
+wolfe1970 No I didn't. On the one hand it is really amazing that they took the time to go into that kind of detail. On there other hand, there are probably other areas of the game that could have used that time to better advantage.
wolfe1970 Now that's detail.
I got to say...I am trying out this game as the demo and today my one of my parents is going to get the digital ver. off of stream. Also when I started on the demo and I had to pick a driver icon, I chose the one that is your picture. The more I watched your episodes and another youtubers American trucking simulator videos. I have finally decided to get it. And I love your commentary. Hope your having a good day Squirrel. Bye.
Talk about getting up early, as a bus driver I start working from between 4-5 am. The best part with that there's almost no traffic at all so I never have to worry that I will get stuck in traffic and get late to work. The down sides though is that I can never take the bus to work since I drive the first one.
2 tips Squirrel,
1)There is a Kenworth dealer in Elko
2) If you get stuck at one of those intersections that shouldn't exist on the Interstates where the traffic never eases enough to allow you to cross and turn try switching the HDR setting. It resets the AI traffic momentarily, clearing the intersection.
If you struggle with a 370 break engine you should upgrade, you've got the money. PS it had dinged when you reversed the trailer, you just didn't notice it :D
Squirrel, the clock slows down from 1 minute per second or so on the highway to something like 1 minute per 10 or 20 seconds once you enter a property or if you are within city limits. That way if your running late or close to the delivery time, you should have time to back the trailer yourself without having to worry about the clock running so fast that you run very much later than your already are.
25:30 I've seen plenty of wrecks on those hills in multiplayer, including a whole 6 truck convoy go flying into ditches on both sides, with 3 of the trucks stuck with no hope of getting out, and trailers just sitting on the road. Very dangerous place, always watch the road through there.
The pressure tank would probably have been used to treat lumber, I used to deliver building materials and trusses local, we had pressure vessels to chemically treat the lumber with preservatives and protective coatings.
Also the good thing about highway patrol is that you don't see them as often as normal police coursers, but they have Dodge chargers, and actually our police forces are changing the cop cars over to Dodge chargers and SUV's, but that being said the highway patrol is still out there and you WILL run into them on the road cruising around
a 13 speed is easy to map, but tricky to learn... I have a G27 with a Thrustmaster TH8A shifter, the middle red button on the left bank of 3 on the wheel is my range button, the left flappy is the splitter button... so the "conventional" 1 - 6 positions on the shifter are actually Reverse H/L (selectable via the range button) then L through 4.... L is VERY useful if you're hauling 25+ tons and have to do a hill start on an off ramp... so when you're in 4th, you click the range button, then when you go back to "1st" you're on 5th Low... hit the splitter, then when you take your foot off the gas and then back on (no clutch needed), you'll be shifted to 5H, then clutch - splitter - shift into 6L etc till you're in 8H... Took a couple of trips to get used to it, and a look at a couple of vids of people describing how it's done, but once you get used to it, 13 speeds is perfect.... google "eaton fuller 13 speed" and take a look at a diagram, to see what I've clumsily tried to explain...
Most truckers will turn on their emergency flashers when climbing steep hills at slow speeds. For future reference
SCS should add in cross winds to make the game more cool
It would be easier to navigate without the satnav if there were street names and numbers as in real life. You could turn off the green arrow, the actual navigation part of the satnav and just use the blue icon that is your truck. These streets should have names regardless of how accurate the streets are laid out.
When you're at delivery and pick up (and some cities), the time scale changes to 1:1 so you're delivering in real time and not taking an hour to park.
Did you noticed the sky in left mirror on 3:49 its saying 'dogs'...
LOL
Ya
LOL
I hate waking up at noon, I feel like I have wasted the ENTIRE day by just allowing myself to sleep that extra 2 hours. Even when I have booked time off work I still set my alarm for like 9am, just so I can do something productive with my day. I usually lmit myself to 11am on days I am not working from 8am.. but that is as late as I feel I can go before I just get a "bleh" mood for he rest of the day.
I always get up at around 12. But to "compemstate" I usually stay up to about 02:00. I could never keep myself awake for so long if I got up at 09:00.
Speaking of straight roads, it's a fact that when the first Intercontinental railroads were being built, the railroad companies were paid by the government per mile. So many of them put as many bends in the tracks as possible to up the mileage.
Oh wtf! Good to know...😮
that ruler road planner thing is actually precisely what they did
you said that you heard the break pressure release when you disengaged the parking brake... it's the other way around, you are increasing the pressure to compress a spring that keeps the brakes engaged
You have to think about real life-would a real company give a crap if you had a 370 HP engine? Uhhh, no. Real companies aren't going to change their expectations just because they hear 'oh, a guy with a weak engine chose your heavy cargo.' Especially not on an URGENT DELIVERY!!! It is your fault for choosing that because stuff happens and you got to account for that.
Well, I can agree with you on that.
+pschlik Thought I was the only one thinking that. Well spoken, sir.
+pschlik yes i agree, and then at the same no matter where in the world you take an job, you come up short, you get a fine (lot bigger than 100$ ) and lost the chance to do more future job for that company, and if you some how get an reputation that stats, you have a bad management or something like those line, you will never get jobs at all and your trucking company dies faster than it was too start it in the first place.
this is how it is in very short therms here in Denmark. i have been an truckdriver for many years and i know what they have told me, when i got late.....but the only thing that can make it up, if there have been an trafik ascendents which block every roads and they have seen it on tv, then you are not too get blamed if you happens too be there but if they can calculate time line and makes it so you could have taken an 2nd route too make it and choose not too....again your company which you work at, get stomped by a contract breach.......in money.
but for this simulator game 19 t is nothing really.....
i normal had and 420 hp truck and that does it very good and pulls any load too the max limet on freeway 80 km/t..here in denmark it is 48 t total....and too this, your truck...well mine was 18,5 t ..+..load....so normal i pulled an 30 t load on my trailer no problems, and 370 hp can easy pull and 19 t load...
today we have 25 m road trains up to a total at 57 t total and if your truck incl trailer have 7 aksle .....you may have a total 56 t total weight....or something in those line.....and still you may have like 480 hp or 580 hp too pull it....some has those very nice 730 hp but they are rar since they cost so much more compare too the smaller once, which does the same job. but in this game 20 t make my 360 hp truck al most stop at an small climb, not realistisk at all.... the game need a twerk if they wanna have it real.
jess rohde holy crap, you didnt have to write an essay on this lol
+ jess rohde That was a bit much, wasn't it?
eaton fuller 18 speed is actually pretty easy to use, just need to remember that reverse is where first was on the regular 10 speed layout
Just wait until they get around to expanding the map eastward and include the Rockie Mountains. The engine in this truck will make it seem like a golf cart.
Not really unfair. That delivery was 3 sideways arrows(i don't know what they are called) so they needed it as soon as possible. What i did in early game was avoid those 3 arrow deliveries and just stick to the 1 and 2 arrow rush ones. Going through cali and several cities i found that the 370 brake engine is too sluggish during hills and acceleration for jobs like that. Once you pick up the bigger engines like the 455 or 600 brake it will make those jobs easier.
Chevrons
The areas where the people seem to be gathering, reminds me of the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers. In fact the whole landscape looks rather scary to me. Take a break , but don't you fall asleep man !
The reason the dealer was closed was here in the states it is actually against the law for vehicle dealers to be open on a Sunday.
Has anyone ever actually seen that stop sign stop light combo IRL, I never have.
WOW!! This game is so detailed!!! watched this video in 1080p60 for the first time!!! WOW!!!
Any more trucking diaries, I love that series, since I don't have that game, that's the only thing that fills the void
That dashboard GPS controls has also been in ETS2 for a while now ;)
When you enter a motel I always think of the fools and horses episode where trigger says " I'm staying at a motel but they don't know I haven't got a car " lol
Those trailers should have backup cams so you can keep track of those smokies on your bumper. You should do do an air brake test at highway speed and see how the smokies react.
+Tom Mendenhall It'd end up being his fault.
If you didnt know... You can assign a key to increase and decrease the cruise-control!
Just noticed the Bates Motel from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho @ 16:45. Hilarious.
Paul buddy that's life
Dispatch " hey whats up your late to your delivery, where are you?"
Driver "I'm in New York rush hour about half way through the city I'm not making it."
Cell ringin', parkin.... The Pressure.... No pun intended eh with the Load
I find it a little funny that everyone tends to think that Peterbilt and Kenworth are big competitors, even though they are both made by the same company.
I'm really lookin' forward to the point in the game where you're doin' more managing drivers than driving yourself.
Squirrel said he was under pressure but he did have a pressure tank on the back lol!
The only thing I don't like about this game is that interstates in the USA do NOT have 4 way traffic intersections on them at all, they are all exit and entrance ramps
When's the next trucking school out Paul
Yeh where's it gone?
Sunday
***** but he hasn't done the sixth one yet
When you hit 30 employees and have reached lvl50, discovered everything and have defacto unlimited money there are two things you NEED to do: Get mods and get an Audible account :D
I love going into Ely. 65, 70 and 80 mph.
Quality Video As Always Pall! Keep Up The Good Work Many Thanks Charlie!
+Buffalo Wingz he means blah blah blah - Charlie as in his name is charlie not Squirrel
+Buffalo Wingz Hi Buffalo Wingz, I said "pal" as in "mate" etc and signed off with Many Thanks "Charlie" Being my name..
Why should games be easy? I think it should be even harder than it is right now... Loving these videos. Just found them and watching them in marathon session while being sick at bed.
My Mambo Number 5 Squirrel Remix (Lyrics express Squirrel's Advice to STS):
A little more realism's what I'd like,
Scenery that makes me say "Oh my life"
Up the difficulty, for the love of christ
Add a little more variety to the AI
A few more pedestrians is all I need
Make it feel a bit more lived it, won't you please
Open the door for Mod authors to keep it fresh
Get some venture capital, then do the aforesaid
...
Miss your trucking videos, Squirrel!
squirrel you can have the engine break on it helps with braking I personally leave mine on when I'm in the city but in residential areas it's banned
His views on the Trucking Diaries has decreased so much because he has been crazy uploading those only and a lot of us have the game.
***** Which Euro Truck? You should get ATS, and thanks!
You should of held off getting your first truck until you could upgrade the engine, then you wouldn't struggle on the hills as much.
excitedly waiting on episode 25. keep up the excellent work paul
It's pretty funny listening to both you and Accurize since you're always suspicious about cops and he is always suspicious of criminals (pedestrians) :).
MORE TRUCKING DIARIES
(3:40) regarding a lot more pedestrians. I think that building was supposed to be a school, based on the time of day, it looks like school just let out.
I feel that Squirrel should have waited until he was able to buy a better engine before putting more than one point in
Just-in-time Delivery. I have the feeling the time requirements will get shorter as he adds more points to that skill.
1:13 How urgent is it if the deadline to pick it up is in 21 hours, and the actual trip itself is nearly 20 hours?
Use the "V" for your diferencial which will help you climb the hill.
With a 10 speed. You shouldn't always go up 2-4-6-8-9-10. Do that with an 18 speed...
that moment when you are 2exp from being lvl 6
'dogh!
I wish that audio was available back years ago before Lymes Disease took my vision and I could no longer play this type of game.
squirrel you need the realistic smoke mod (eshaust from stacks). I have it and it is great. The only minus is it doesnt depend on load or even wether the engine is running ut always has smoke but its not overwhelming just a touch of realism.
Squirrel needs a specially modded shifter made to work with high gear trucks with the two toggles on the stick.
I have the g27 and I use a 13 spees in game. I use the first red button for the range and the red button next too it is the splitter. yeah it gets difficult because it's not on the shifter but it's a thing
Part of the problem, and I'm not sure you would have noticed this, is that the game was still on full compression while you were pulling up to the drop off point, on that little spit of road outside. Basically, it took like 10 minutes to get from the highway to the refinery. THAT needs to be changed.
You can change that
You sure had a lot of pressure hauling that pressure tank!! 😂
FYI. I don't know if you knew this or not, the U.S. interstates are numbered even for east/west routes odd numbered for north/south routes.
Downside to the dangerous cargo is the fact you wont get money from taking one, just bonus xp
I just noticed something, those kind of cops are not aloud to be out there and actually give you a ticket, because that's not there jurisdiction and only highway patrol has jurisdiction on those areas
you can speed a little, even if there's a cop near/behind you. you can drive 10% -1mph faster than allowed. (32 instead of 30, 59 instead of 55, 76 instead of 70 etc.) without getting fined, just watch your speed when driving downhill.
+Alex0Halo and the gps route uses an average speed of 38 mph
I've never been an early riser, I can't function before midday. I just can't be doing the morning, even if I'm awake I'm just nearly dead. And it takes me ages to actually wake up. I'm knackered out by high blood sugars I guess.
on pressure while delivering a pressure tank?
pressureception!
pressure is a pleasure
+IIIRobIII just.. no.. no, just no, just go back into your shelter :P
To be fair if squirrel would remap his gearbox - he would get there on time! 16 mins late for a urgent delivery is quite bad!
great show! keep them coming
Been a fan since the DayZ days with sacriel and the rest haha , but do love these truck videos aswell
Did any of you guys yawn when the guy yawned in the game? I must've yawned because it's like 1:28 AM in the morning.
in America literally nobody uses the sidewalk unless it's in a really urban area like new York city
if that highway you were taking was US95, then that "airfield" you went by is Area 51.
I'm starting to hate Chili's even more now
In this episode squirrel causes a traffic jam on the freeway
hey man heard what your saying about 10 13,18 gears, myself found it a bit harder than the modded truck we brought to ETS2. As i was using the g27 as manual. so ive switched back to auto for the time being in ATS. But i will try the 10 gears which i can handle as manual. Overall your vids are the bomb i love the commentary which sometimes goes well beyond this game. Keep up the good work man.!!!
Good tip the nav option
The reason you were late was you turned and took that other way to get the cop off your back. Just follow that main road next time
The pressure tank there is most likely used to treat the wood for termites
Yep, pressure treated wood is essential for all construction that contacts the ground.
Nice vid squirrel :D
Squirrel you are the funniest and craziness man
The time you rekt the Renault reminds me of the time I was watching a wwe match on tv and someone was recking randy ortan's car. Randy's reaction was probably the same as Renault's, pure hatred.
I love this series
Bates Motel to the right lol @ 16:48
I saw it too lol. It's a shame this gorgeous easter egg wasn't notice by anyone else.
That's why in my mod I played with the AI settings, so they don't get stuck that long, of coarse sometimes they keep reversing and going back over and over till one does it right.
I always love watching you! You take the edge off a crap day =)
Whenever you're going up a hill at slow speed turn your hazard lights are on
If you put your hazards on when going really slow they will go around
Hehe, it was a pressure tank.. I guess the pressure to get there on time was high...
Waah Waah Waaah
I can't wait for their next update for ETS and ATS , steam workshop :D
"That pressure" well it's called a pressure tank after all
31:45 probably a field trip.
squirrel is awesome keep up the good work love youre videos
18:51 "Like Ding Ding" haha lol
When I buy this next, ill see if scs mapped the interstate system and signage so you can navigate from town to town without GPS.
Playing ets2 it kinda seems like that's doable but also not as you have different countries making different highway rules. Whereas in america the whole system is set in a way that you can just follow the signs.
Hi Paul on the menu it said Arizona testing I can't wait😊😊
