Terracotta jewellery baking at home(mini-kiln method)

  • Hi,
    terracotta jewellery baking is one of the most important part in terracotta jewellery making..i guarantee on the success of this baking process..(not if you skip and watch this video)if you listen my words carefully...
    you should make sure following things before baking of your terracotta jewellery in this way..
    1- your terracotta jewellery items should be dried well.
    ( products should dry around 10-14 days..in normal climate, and 20-25 days in wet climate).
    2- enough thickness should be maintained when you made terracotta jewellery.
    pendents- minimum 0.5-0.6 cm
    earrings- 0.3cm
    3-in wet,rainy climate product should be keep for more time in sim stage of baking..should be 45 mnts - 55mnts.
    timing is important so keep watching without skipping ..
    After searching many formless baking method... i find out this method. my friend guide me to develop this method..
    1st time it will be little difficult to all as timing is important. once you learn this.. never look back to other methods.. i am sure... waiting for your valuable comments.. if you did.. sent me pic of your products..

      Maybe because of no air circulation inside the pot

    Why is firing in electric kiln non ecofriendly?

      Hello mam... Electric klin never be non eco friendly.. Meanwhile, if baked in electric klin with the correct temperature, you will get more effective and strong baked products.

    can we add the some slow burning coal in the beginning of the baking process...so as the coal starts to burn slowly the terracotta will bake...

      Yes, you can..reduce the smoking period then you can add coal

      For 2 things -1- remove all dest particles from the product.
      2- most important- to check whether the product baked completely or not.. If you did water test after baking and any thing come to your hand, i mean clay.. That means those products not completely baked. Pls check it

      @@Ishu__2329 mainly 2reasons..
      1-may be not dried well .should give 7-12days to dry..some clay dry faster..some clay need time..so better to give 12days to dry.
      2- may be products have not enough thickness.

      Actually i dont know about air dry clau. Follow the instruction on the packet.

    Can I replace this jali with something else?

      You may use mesh instead which is normally available in every hardware shops.but the life of mesh is less than that of jali.. or you can ask for damaged piece of jali which you will get in floor mills...buy from them and cut it in round shape.
